House Condemns Trump’s Attack on Four Congresswomen as Racist

I'm not ignorant. I'm the one who pointed out to you that this rule was specifically added to protect Trump in 2016.

Are you not aware that striking the statement requires a majority vote, and that no such majority vote was successful? Why do you only care about some of the rules and not others? I have an errand to run but can come back in a couple hours and explain this to you.

Perhaps in the meantime you'd care to explain why you make no condemnation of the President's racist tweets yourself. YOU are not subject to parliamentarian rules, you have no such excuse.

You are ignorant on parliamentary procedure. The rules in relation to verbiage about the president go all the way back to Thomas Jefferson. Afterwards, they were Amplified during the Nixon presidency, when Tip O'Neill was the Speaker of the House.

You can scream racism all you want, it doesn't make it so. Liberals are clearly demonstrating how much they know about things, which is far as anyone can tell is near zero. And here they are trying to tell us how to run the country. These stupid and totally transparent political games reek to high heaven, and anyone with a brain cell can see exactly what's going on.

Steny Hoyer took the reins and declared Nancy Pelosi's comments out of bounds, BECAUSE HE HAD TO. He had no choice.

While I agree with their assessment, the vote was a waste of tax payer money, since the vote can't really do anything.

Simply Historic. 240-187. Trump condemnation passes the House. A handful of Republicans presumably not up for re-election have voted with the Dems. Michigan Rep. Fred Upton and Pennsylvania Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick. Indiana Rep. Susan Brooks are the ones I know of. But...Take a look at the states. They are notable. Michigan. Pennsylvania and Indiana! I wonder if the states these people are from are the states Trump will lose in 2020? Would be interesting to go back to this moment and see that this was the point he lost the election

House Condemns Trump’s Attack on Four Congresswomen as Racist

EDIT: Will Hurd of Texas and Independent Justin Amash of Michigan also voted Yes.

For Democrats to condemn Trump and allow the comments and in fact to support the women who make them, (the squad) is hypocritical to the max. Its purely politics because democrats are still suffering from Hillary's loss and the knowledge that they cannot win in 2020 without creating a scandal. The Collusion Delusion blew up in their face and they are facing revelations in the IG and AG investigations that may be extremely embarassing. The result is ignore the good of the country and create issues that do not exist. Every time they attack Trump they attack roughly half the nation that supports him and or his policies and the success the country is seeing. So Democrats you have to slander and make unfounded accusations. Racist? Really? seems you don't see racism but on one side of the coin.

For democrats to condemn Trump or Barr is nothing but politics.

This. ^^^

All the racism is on the left side of the aisle.

All the violence is on the left side of the aisle.

All the horrible human behavior is on the left side of the aisle.

What's on the right? Words. Nothing but big bad scary words.

The lily-livered Liberals are scared of words.

God help us when the next War comes.

Historic hysteria.

But when you have nothing, all you can do is lay on the hate.

Yeah I mean if anyone knows about laying on the hate it is Trump. So spare me your nothing-burger stance.
There would be no need for a resolution if he could keep his emotions and racism in check.

Wrong, the provision about specifically calling the president a racist was added in 2016. You really do need to brush up on your parliamentary procedure.
Furthermore, the rule is about calling the president a racist. They didn't. They said his statements were racist.
Finally, nobody gives a crap because striking the statement requires a majority vote. They didn't get the vote, therefore the statement is not struck. Why do only some of the rules matter to you?

Telling a black person to go back to Africa is racist. Do you agree or disagree? You dance around that a lot, are you brave enough to actually give an answer?

Steny Hoyer took the reins and declared Nancy Pelosi's comments out of bounds, BECAUSE HE HAD TO. He had no choice.
I don't care. Nobody who votes for Donald Goddamned Trump gets to whine to me about the precious decorum and be taken seriously. Whole lot of right wing snowflakes coming out of the woodwork shrieking how DARE those nasty liberals call our president MEAN NAMES! Have you listened to that asshole talk for, oh, any five minute period over the last decade?

Do you approve of the President of the United States telling minorities to go back where they came from?

was that the entirety of his statement?

and why is the MSM only prints part of his statement?

because hate sells...like sex does?

sad that this is what journalism has turned into......

Feel free to point to how the full context changes it.

Such delicious irony!

Such typical troll like response, unoriginal. You clearly don't even know what irony means, you are like a parrot just regurgitating stupid non-responses

Another right wing propaganda victim. Tell us more about how criticizing Israel means criticizing all Jews. I suppose you think Jews are a hive mind 100% in lockstep with the state of Israel, but somehow think the antisemite is not you.

There is no point with these trolls, they will just post he same dumb **** over and over, there will never be anything actually on topic, there won't be any rational argument, just he same stupid one or two liners

Elaborate on what circumstances make it ok to tell a black person to "go back to Africa." That way we can analyze whether this fits.

Can you tell me if these rules which go back to Jefferson permit representatives to tell a President "You lie" inside the Congress when the president delivers his speech?

I like how "reading things the president said" is somehow out of line for the US ****ing House of Representatives.

Fun fact: Melania Trump has been in the US for less time than Ilhan Omar.

So interesting to see “Progressive” Democrat Congresswomen, who originally came from countries whose governments are a complete and total catastrophe, the worst, most corrupt and inept anywhere in the world (if they even have a functioning government at all), now loudly and viciously telling the people of the United States, the greatest and most powerful Nation on earth, how our government is to be run. Why don’t they go back and help fix the totally broken and crime infested places from which they came. Then come back and show us how it is done. These places need your help badly, you can’t leave fast enough. I’m sure that Nancy Pelosi would be very happy to quickly work out free travel arrangements!

you may not like what he said....you may not agree with it....but racist? now is it another case where his blackberry should be taken away from him? probably

but those are so prolific that it really doesnt merit these types of responses anymore....he has been a buffoon from day one, and that isnt going to change

The Democrats have now voted to condemn Trump while they refuse to condemn Omar and Talib's antisemitic statements... good job Dems! You're married to those 4 idiots now while they are actively waging war against your own leadership.

Both sides will fight to protect their brand and stick together. It's more or less become Party Politics at this point.

No argument there. The mudslinging is just going to get worse until the Divider in Chief is out of office.

Trump has certainly exacerbated the problem. I do not believe we've ever had a President who has caused such a great division in the People as Trump has. However, Trump is not the cause of the problem. This move to hyperpartisan, party politics predates Trump, and they will continue once he leaves. And they will continue for as long as We the People reward that sort of behavior.

Yeah, you're probably right. Trump's base will still exist when he's gone. But they won't have a leader to rally around anymore.

And you are ignorant on history. O'Neill became Speaker of the House in 1977. Nixon resigned in 1974.

If you are going to pretend to have even a slight handle on what you discuss, you should at least know the basic facts first. Tossing out names may have seemed like a good idea. Too bad you didn't know the basic facts.

This was a waste of time. It's not racist to say that Somalia or Lebanon is a **** hole. It's factually incorrect to imply these women had any influence over these places, as they are largely, American born, but it's not racist. I struggle to comprehend the usefulness of accusing those who are proudly racist of being racist. No ****, whatcha gonna do about it, is their response.

We should have had a resolution condemning Trump for being a petty, bigoted dip****.

Yes, it is racist to tell brown people to go back to Africa when they're ****ing American.

A reasonable person sees Trump say that and responds with "Rashida Tlaib was born in Detroit you ****wit"

i disagree

and i am not the only one

maybe we hear the term used so much, we have become NUMB to it

but continue on....keep pounding on this drum....

same as you pounded on the Mueller drum for months on end....

Of course the **** you disagree.

So do this for me: find the nearest black person you know for a fact is a natural-born American and tell them to go back to Africa. A real person, to their face, not anonymously on the internet. Are you willing to do this? After all, it's not a racist thing to do, right?

Now, we both know you aren't willing to do that. So I'll offer an olive branch. Can you tell me why other people perceive "go back to Africa" to be a racist statement? Now, I know the reflexive response is probably "because Trump said it and liberals hate Trump." But let's think about that. Donald Trump did not invent this sort of sentiment. It's old. Very, very old. People thought this was a racist statement since before Trump learned to walk. Why do people perceive it that way, explained in your own words?
