WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump used a White House conference Thursday to applaud far-right social media provocateurs even as he conceded that some of them are extreme in their views.
Trump, who has weaponized social media to eviscerate opponents and promote himself, led a “social media summit” of like-minded critics of Big Tech, excluding representatives from the very platforms he exploits.
The president used the event to air grievances over his treatment by Big Tech, but also to praise some of the most caustic voices on the right, who help energize Trump’s political base.

“Some of you guys are out there,” he told them. “I mean it’s genius, but it’s bad.”

A summit of far-right pundits that will never run out of fabricated conspiracy theories we welcomed to the White House. Among the guests was none other than Ali Alexander, a right-wing operative that tweeted that Sen. Kamala Harris isn’t really “an American Black,” and of course, Trump re-tweeted it. Then there was a pro-Trump “memesmith” who goes by the screenname “@CarpeDonktum,” and blogger Jim Hoft, whose Gateway Pundit blog frequently promotes hoaxes. Of course Matt Gaetz and Marsha Blackburn attended, they need to be on their toes to prepare for the upcoming Mueller testimony next week.

InfoWars reporter and Alex Jones's lieutenant Owen Shroyer raged that no one from InfoWars was invited to the event, while people who hadn’t been banned from social media outlets were.

What is your complaint?

More evidence that far right wing thought as exemplified by Trump and his Trumpkins is a form of mental illness.

Just a matter of time.

What is your complaint?

They actually don't have one yet. Waiting on instructions I would guess.

Laughingly, one CNN report was titled: "Trump invites right-wing extremists to White House 'social media summit'"

Is there any wonder why CNN can't keep digging deeper in the sewer?

It's not a complaint, have you digested this as a complaint for some reason? What is that reason, I'd be interested to know. I think it's funny that he's circling his wagons of dwindling legitimate news resources, he's even taking the time to criticize Fox now and then. What does he have left? A bunch of college dropouts that like to play on their laptops creating ugly fake stories and conspiracy theories, because people like you just eat it all up, every word of it.

Enjoy your fantasy world of social media.

DUH!! That is officially and EXACTLY how the White House described it themselves, That's right, it came straight from 'the sewer'. CNN didn't 'make it up'. You're so anxious to rage against CNN but really, you should check your bull**** for facts before you leave it here for all to see how desperate you are.

Really? I hadn't seen that. The White House said they invited right-wing extremists to the White House?

Please post a link to that official description.

Thanks!

The irony is that he has been receiving instructions from Trump.

I don't know many of them, but Fleccas was there and is very entertaining.. and he graduated college. So, that should make you happy.

My post:

Your claim:

"That is officially and EXACTLY how the White House described it themselves,"

So you failed to prove that is EXACTLY how the White House described it themselves.

LOL

Not to worry, I knew you couldn't. Without your constant hyperbole, I'm not sure how much you could post.....

I have not heard of any of those people.

Apparently trump can't get anyone famous to visit the Whitehouse anymore...

You must understand that our beloved right whiners have to jump to define us before they can refute us. Reality is the enemy for them. Much better to tilt at the evil liberal windmills in their minds.

Trump is missing a great opportunity of starting his own social media brand. He can call it "Trumple"...or "Trumpster" and he can essentially do what Roger Ailes did for FOX. This way the folks who feel like they can't express their views can do so without having to worry about being banned because this site can set its own TOS. Now that Kushner's solved the Israeli Palestinian crisis, he has time to take this on.

It is because he appreciates their first amendment rights....until Kap and Rapinoe kneel.

It's my understanding that no representatives from Facebook, Twitter and Instagram (you know, the BIG guys of "social media") were invited to attend. So yeah, it kinda-sorta was a right-wing only sponsored event, lol.

Based on what? Why would those liberal media companies need to be invited? Is there some special standard of who must be invited to a Social Media Summit?

I would think the leaders in the industry would be invited to any serious summit.

Apparently so; only pro-Trump, right-wing bloggers and "social media" folks were invited, and I doubt it's because those who were not pro-Trump or right-wing had all their invitations lost in the mail, lol. How gullible can folks be?
