Deportation raids to begin Sunday: report

So, just let'em go? Give them all amnesty?

Maybe you should be asking the caravan organizers why they created this mess.

The condition of the camps is Trump's mess

Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents will launch massive raids on Sunday targeting undocumented immigrants scheduled for deportation, The New York Times reported early Thursday, in an operation that President Trump delayed weeks ago.
The ICE action had been set to take place in 10 major cities and target up to 2,000 immigrants, according to multiple reports.
According to the Times, officials will try to hold detained family members at centers in Texas and Pennsylvania, adding that ICE wants to deport families as quickly as possible.
The newspaper added that other undocumented immigrants caught up in the raids could also be detained.

It seems as though we can't wake up every day without bracing ourselves for a whole new raft of horrors descending on us. Trump is running out of time to turn this country around and get it back on course. He has to give people what they're really looking for which is, in addition to economic growth, some stability and vision for a country that's moving in a positive direction, not backwards.

what is a raft of horror? these are people that have legal deportation papers.
they have been ordered to leave the country and have refused to do it.

you do understand how our immigration laws work yes?

That's how much you know about what's supposed to come down this Sunday. I know that in your overactive imaginative mind you're visualizing ICE busting down doors and people running screaming down the streets carrying their children. No. This weekend they're only targeting those people that have been adjudicated as criminals. This information comes directly from Trump spokesperson David Urban.

Most of the people presenting at the border for asylum -- which is legal under US immigration laws --don't speak English, and in terms of them not showing up for their court dates basically studies have found that if you give people that come to this country over the border a lawyer or someone appointed by the court to them through the process, that 90% of them show up for their court date.

actually no that is the scenario that you are attempting to create.

These are people that have court ordered deportations that have not left.
you do understand how our immigration laws work correct?

so i ask again what raft of horror are you referring to?

You are right, I did. However, the debt is increasing faster under trump that it did under either Obama or Bush..

I expected some pain but, frankly, as a household we are in good shape. Our personal debt is very low. If the Chinese relent, we'll be sitting pretty.

Though a long-range prediction, I would not be surprised by another ICE round-up at the time of the actual census count.

OMG! ICE is going to do their jobs and *gasp* actually attempt to enforce our current immigration law. This is breaking news because ICE normally does not do that, yet gets paid regardless.

His deportation threats are starting to sound like his infrastructure weeks. All talk. Wasn't he supposed to start them twice already? How much hatred is enough for the GOP?

He announced the raids, then announced that they would be postponed until after the July 4 holiday so ICE could work to address some of the concerns being brought by Democrats in congress. It's now after the 4th, and ICE has announced they will now start.

How is this waffling? How is it "hatred"?

Remember when we were blissfully unaware that Obama was deporting 3 million illegals?

This is 3rd time I've heard this in the last two months. The last two times Trump called off the raid. Wonder whats going to happen this time.

Looks like the dems haven't cooperated.....

I thought you cons said Obama didn't do anything about illegal immigration? Now you are changing your stories.

Time to Resist. Anyone you know who might be undocumented, make sure they know about this. Make sure they can be somewhere else other than where they usually are (home, work, etc.). Point them toward local churches/synagogues/mosques that are providing sanctuary - ICE won't want the further bad imagery of a bunch of armed thugs storming places of worship and ripping people out, and places of worship have a long standing tradition of being places of sanctuary. Or take them and their families in yourself for the day - ICE have the right to enter the homes of the undocumented immigrant on their warrant, but they don't have the right to enter other people's homes where that immigrant may currently be, unless the homeowner allows them to.

Assuming that Mr. Trump arrests and deports 2,000 people every day how long will it take to deport all of the illegal immigrants?

Approximately 20.5 years.
Which is assuming that absolutely no new illegal immigrants arrive during that period.

This is only a piece of the immigration puzzle, but again, one that is straightforward and should have little disagreement. Some enforcement here should go a long way toward encouraging people to cooperate with the immigration process, rather than promising to appear in court and walking away. It should also encourage people to make their own arrangements for travel home following a deportation order, rather than waiting to be arrested.

The figure you are arriving at is 14,965,000 people in our country illegally within 20.5 years, doesn't that figure cause you some concern? The latest figure for those here illegally I could find come from the Center for Migration Studies which says there were 10.8 million people in 2016 living in the U.S. illegally. Really, when is enough, enough? We can't even provide for our own citizens, in Los Angeles County alone there is a estimated 52,765 living homeless, in the streets, under bridges, in any open area even by freeway ramps. They do not have running water, toilets, food, heath care and usually shelters make of junk material.

You say that is the figure is if no new illegals arrive, yet we know that that is happening daily, there is no way to count how many cross because most are not all caught, but in 2018, 396,579 illegal crossers were apprehended.

During Obamas 2 terms he deported 2.5 million illegals which set a record for deportations and earned him the nickname of Deporter in Chief and that was nothing compared to the figure you are putting forth.

Just as ridiculous as the responses I've gotten in this thread so far, but the consensus from the right is AOC's house.

If it's the one in Westchester County, then they'll need to build out a whole lot more....

Since you contend that Canada is a superior country to the US and Canada has a such great healthcare system would you be OK if we just give ALL illegal aliens a bus ride to the Canadian border so they can have a better life in Canada? No spin please. ;) It seems like the compassionate thing to do.
