Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is firing back at accusations of hypocrisy for railing against conditions in migrant detention centers, after having voted against funding legislation for the humanitarian crisis at the border.


“People like AOC create the disaster, refuse to fix it, vote against funding to help people and then go down there to attack the people who are saying to her, ‘we don’t have enough money, we don’t have enough facilities,’” former GOP House Speaker Newt Gingrich said on Fox News’ “America’s Newsroom,” calling her "viciously dishonest."

The criticisms of Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., come after the freshman Democrat traveled to the border in El Paso, Texas on Monday with almost a dozen members of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus, blasting border officials while claiming agents forced migrant women and children in cells to drink toilet water.

See this is typical Democrat, look at the Tweets. If they sit with them in a cell and talk, then they are one of them. It's like always, symbolism over substance. She won't vote to help them, but will gladly do a photo-op at the border, and then sit on the concrete with them; followed by criticism of the people who are actually trying to help them. You don't have to join them in the cell to know they need food, and you certainly don't need to join them, to help the CBP personnel who are actually working for the American people.............and have been begging for support. She said that she doesn't trust the Trump administration to properly use the money that Congress would approve for them. You can agree or disagree but there is no need to make things up.

Plus, they completely ignore the actual reason, and that is, the bill is just a blank check with no accountability and nothing going specifically to help these people

BP has a 4 billion dollar budget and is one of the largest agencies in the government.

I know how you love big government and throwing large sums of money at agencies but come on, they get plenty of support.

Democrats have no interest in actually solving problems. They get the majority of their political power from creating and perpetuating problems then telling their constituents that it's all somebody else's fault and only the Democrats can save them. In that regard they have been Socialists since the 30s.

AOC is a tyrant. A little bit of power accompanied by zero accomplishments and she's off to the races. She knows the CBP can't hit her back. They can defend and try to educate, but no way can they hit back as she tries her level best to destroy their reputations, their livelihoods and their profession. AOC cut off the noses of the migrants in detention and spited their faces, not her own.

If AOC thinks that's a reasonable excuse for not funding humanitarian aid, she needs to go.

Yes. I am paying attention to those who have been there, who have talked with the CBP personnel, who have toured the facilities and actually witnessed the situation that exists. AOC refused to do that when offered the opportunity.

Those who have done that report that those "evil" CBP people are shelling money out of their own pockets and bringing clothes out of their own closets for migrants they pulled out of the river who had nothing other than the wet muddy clothing on their back. Multiply that situation by tens of thousands at any given time and it isn't hard to see the humanitarian crisis the Democrats have created by first inviting them here and then refusing to do anything to deal with the problem they have caused, continue to cause, and will continue to cause.

The people under the care of the Border Patrol are being treated humanely and decently. Yes, there is overcrowding, but that is not the fault of those dealing with it. Some have died in spite of medical treatment because they were in such bad shape when they got here. That is not the fault of those dealing with it either.

The alternative is to release millions of people into the general population where they will need every kind of public resources, and they will include those with dangerous communicable diseases and who are criminally minded and will commit all kinds of destructive, sometimes deadly, mayhem. And only a small percentage of them are showing up for the court hearings these days.
