Trump still wants tanks displayed at July 4th celebration

Hi! Thank you for responding. A secular humanist, my viewpoint doesn't necessarily sit easily with either the right nor with the left. Rather, it's an issue-by-issue sort of thing with the underlying question of, 'On balance, is this good or bad for humanity?' It makes for a complex ethical calculus at times, but that's the price I pay.

Pentagon gave Trump two tanks for his Big 4th of July Day. :2rofll:

And a humvee with two Bradleys. Maybe Trump's lucky he didn't get a platoon of Shermans out of the scrap heap.

Looks like Trump should have gone to Putin or Kim for tanks. Makes no difference to him where he gets 'em. And Trump would have got a lot more of 'em from his pals.

I love our country. I just don't believe that the militarization of patriotism is worthy of what it means to be an American. It is a step towards fascism when citizens are coerced or forced to equate military power with self-identity. We are the world's most dangerous nation and apparently Trump gets an erection thinking about it. Do you?

He thinks we should celebrate patriotism and love of country with something special, like children marching from teams of our national sport, baseball.

I can see why its getting to this point. We have a long standing culture that worships the military and they conflate it with freedom.

Well maybe I do get a stiffy at the sight and sound of a big ass tank rumbling down the street. Others might get one from seeing Megan Rapinoe on a rainbow flag covered float coming down Main st.


What difference does it make to you?
