Prosecutors: Rep. Duncan Hunter used campaign funds to pursue affairs

LOS ANGELES — Just a few months after taking his seat in Congress in 2009, Duncan Hunter began an affair with a lobbyist and used campaign money to pay for dates, prosecutors said in a new court filing.

On one of their first “solo getaways,” according to prosecutors, the pair went on a ski trip to the Heavenly resort near Lake Tahoe and “spent the weekend skiing, ordering room service and enjoying the amenities of the full service resort.” The hotel tab: $1,008. And no expense seemed too small that it couldn’t be paid for with campaign money, not even the $7 Sam Adams he drank at the hotel bar just after checking in, according to the filing.

Duncan Hunter is toast. Looks like his wife is going to plea bargain for only 5 years in prison, then testify against him. Hell hath no fury like the scorn of a lover, who just happens to be as crooked as you.

In a normal world, the GOP 'leaders' in the house would let Duncan know it's time to resign.

But in the world we're living in, where twump is engaged in a madcap, homosexual love affair with a chubby NK dictator, who knows what will happen?

I am glad he was caught. I might have said it is very unfortunate, but no one forced the man to engage in corruption or cheat on his wife, or his wife to misuse public funds. I hope San Diego votes in a conservative who does not steal from the coffers or abuse the public trust. I hope the Hunters rot.

Duncan's been a busy boy. I suspect this is going to get more interesting in a soap opera sense. So it looks like he cheated his backers and his wife; his comeuppance is well deserved.

That heartens me greatly, Tanngrisnir. For myself, I believe decent people exist everywhere and wicked people as well. And generally, the decent outnumber the wicked. I have no reason to believe that every single conservative and Republican in San Diego is corrupt anymore than I have any reason to believe that every single Democrat and Liberal in Chicago is corrupt. And we have certainly have had more stories about Chicago Democratic Party machine corruption than of San Diego Republican party machine corruption. I have not heard as much about Republican corruption in San Diego, though I do not doubt that it exists.

Whenever a single party has had control of any particular municipality, county, district or state for more than a decade, the rot of corruption almost inevitably and invariably sets in. California's Democratic Party Which is why I think it would be best to try and find ways to make every state a "purple" state so that no party feels safe, and indeed, no party is safe in power if even the slightest hint of corruption is smelled.

You would think that with the party of family values that he would have been toast when he threw his wife/campaign manager under the bus earlier in this debacle.
No, he is likely room temperature bread; you know it isn't like he mimed grabbing a woman's tits in a picture.

This guy is a major scumbag. The affairs are just icing on the cake. The fact that he stole campaign funds to enrich himself is absolutely disgusting and corrupt to the core.
