He'll "try" to do it. A little. To distract as you say. Rough some up, throw some children in cages, get the base all excited.

But he only has one strategy to energize his base, and it requires illegals. So no way he gets rid of them.

1. Trump makes huge boast, claims to have great plan to fix a huge problem that desperately needs solving.

2. Trump starts implementing said "plan"

3. It soon becomes obvious there never was a plan

4. Trump blames Democrats and immigrants for the failure of his non-existent plan.

5. It all ends with the huge problem still there, and if anything, worse than before.


The wall. Healthcare. Stopping violence in Chicago. Easily winning the trade war. Infrastructure. Bringing down the the deficit. Giving tax cuts to the middle class. Bringing back coal jobs. Stopping illegal immigration. Stopping NK's missile testing. Mexico paying for the wall.

Never a plan. Just big empty boasts that lead to nothing.

I really don't like to accept that this is possible in today's America. Every time he does something terrible, I keep thinking that this time, this time he's done something so despicable that surely his base will turn on him. Every time I'm wrong. Instead they defend his despicable behavior more vociferously than ever.

EDIT: Tell you what, let's make a little bet. I'll be ridiculously nice, and make the break even point 1million illegals deported, that's less than 50% of what Trump claimed, which was millions. What a great guy, eh? More than that deported in the next six months, and you win. Less than that deported in the next six months, and I win.

Geeze, imagine how much better traffic would be in Southern California!!

Oh, my!

I voted for President Trump and would be honored to do so again.

But I am disturbed by his latest statement.

He is NOT going to deport millions.

He cannot even stop hundreds of thousands of people from all over the world from crossing the southern border, let alone deporting "millions."

I hate to admit it, but maybe his critics/enemies are right when they say (with delight) that the idea of his losing in 2020 is really getting to him.

I hope he follows through in deporting millions. Its nonsensical that we allow illegal immigrants to stay in the US. We should be like pretty much every other country on earth and deport them all. It's fascinating that many in the US are so politically deranged that they'd want us to not enforce immigration law or deport illegal aliens. This shouldn't be controversial at all given that basically every other country prosecutes and deport illegal aliens within their borders.

Okay. Now that I've dealt with the Fake News Columbus Dispatch, let talk about those tweets.


Now most of what is in these two tweets have nothing to do with removing people. It's about others and their actions (or lack of actions). Mexico, Guatemala...and, of course, Democrats in Congress. I don't know...maybe my priorities are skewed, but I find news that Mexico and Guatemala are actually taking action to help the US, while the Congressional Dems keep refusing to take action, much more important than news of any new action by ICE. But I realize this is much harder to spin against Trump, so here we are...talking about the ICE action.

So okay. Let's talk about that, eh?


1. The journey of a thousand miles begins with one step. Lao Tzu

If ICE deports one illegal alien next week, they have begun the process.

2. This is referring to people who "come" into the US as opposed to people who "came" into the US. Given the new agreement with Mexico, we already know that migrants seeking asylum will await the decision "in Mexico". So yes, as soon as they enter the US and apply for asylum, "they will be removed as fast as they come in".

As a person who uses reason, logic and facts when reading what others say, these two sentences strike me as no-brainers. Nothing earth shattering about them. But for Trump haters, this is like a gift of manna. Ripe for spin and nonsense. Trump isn't stupid. He KNOWS what the media will do with anything he says and he regularly says stuff to deliberately set them off. Using reason, logic and facts, my judgment is this: The Master Troll is at it again.

And the Trump haters are reacting in a predictable manner.

Are we supposed to believe that ICE has never deported illegal aliens before.

Millions?

Moving tens or hundreds of thousands is a transportation logistical nightmare.....millions may prove to be a bit tougher.

This old watcher from the sidelines is not about to get his knickers in a twist over the latest thing said/tweeted by President of the United States of America Donald Trump. Rather, I'll settle back and wait to see what is actually done. Like, how much of the southern border wall has actually been built and how much money has Mexico sent to the US Treasury Department to cover the cost of the wall.
