Ivanka Trump made $4 million from D.C. Trump Hotel last year

Only $4 million? Why, that's less than Bill gets for his speeches !!!! Crap, Pelosi makes more than that, too. MANY of our actually elected politicians make more than that. Now, which one of those millionaires represents YOU? Tell me again....

So, not knowing how old you are, would you have also been outraged at JFK appointing his brother as AG?

Just so you know, the law went into effect in 1967. JFK died in 1963. This provision went into effect six years after John F. Kennedy made his brother Robert F. Kennedy the U.S. Attorney General in 1961, so it has been nicknamed the “Bobby Kennedy Law.” (JFK’s brother-in-law Sergeant Shriver also ran the Peace Corps.) And neither of them ever profited a red cent off the office of the presidency. Jared and Ivanka have pocketed MILLIONS.

They were making millions prior to Trumps election and I would be willing to bet that the profits from the Trump hotel would have been far greater had he not been elected president. There are probably far more mindless, hateful limousine liberals who refuse to go there simply because Trumps name is attached to it. The truth is, you guys are desperate to make every breath these people take into a criminal offense. If she is in violation of some law, prosecute her. If not, quit whining and STFU

Again, there is nothing I can think of where it lays out to work for the WH one must divest themselves from their investments....Second, You were making a statement merely on the fact of nepotism...I asked a question concerning a Democrat administration who had family members involved....Similar....But you chose then to hide behind the technicality of when the law was adopted....So, I can only guess that you don't have a problem if a Democrat does it....

~ ❓😨❗ It's amazing that anyone makes any money at all with Trump - being he is a failure at business and all his projects lose $$ .
Go figure .. .

Trump could have honored the named law by doing what every president since the 1970s has done voluntarily: sell off his assets, in particular his interests in his brand, and replace them with holdings in a blind trust, the contents of which would remain unknown to him; or he could replace them with Treasury bills and index funds whose value he couldn’t affect in any direct way, as President Obama had done.

From the start, Trump showed no indication in selling off his assets and following suggestions that he set up a blind trust. Trump’s solution was to have his children run the company. Keeping it right in the family and increased their wealth by taking advantage of his position. The Trump Family has gotten much richer since he moved into the White House. Ivanka and Jared may serve as "unpaid senior White House advisers", but they made at least $82 million from their own businesses last year. Kushner earned at least $70 million from his shares in his family-owned real-estate company Kushner Cos., including $5 million from a New Jersey apartment building it acquired last year. Ivanka Trump's assets last year came in at an estimated $55.3 million to $75.6 million, and Kushner's between $179 million and $735 million. Eric Trump claimed all the golf courses earned more and are "profitable."

American history has never seen one president and his family who has profited more off the office of the presidency.

Trump's complex global portfolio and cozy international business relationships create a singular potential for conflicts of interest. But, you don't get that, do you? You just simply cannot comprehend what that means.

The 1978 Ethics in Government Act, all high-ranking federal officials are required to disclose their financial holdings and recuse themselves from any government business in which they, their families or close associates have a financial interest.

Like incest, nepotism is best when kept in the family.

Unfortunately for critics, Ivanka doesn't fit the definition of a nepotistic beneficiary. She earns no salary for her position as Whitehouse advisor.

Does Ivanka Trump Get a Salary? Her White House Pay Revealed

On the other hand, progressive Mayor of NYC, Bill DeBlasio's wife Charlene, received a salary of $250k last year. No one is sure why, and big Bill claims she receives nothing, with another of his obvious lies. He too is on the Democrat presidential slate. Hilary's first campaign manager, and a mayor who refuses to accept NYC has homeless people.

Yeah, "Ivanka" made money of Trump's hotel from foreign dignitaries staying there to see him. Give us a break, it's worse than we thought.

What did Carter sell when he became President?

Ivanka Trump made $4 million from D.C. Trump Hotel last year
Ivanka Trump, the daughter of President Donald Trump and a White House adviser, took in nearly $4 million last year from her stake in the Trump International Hotel down the street from the Oval Office. Her amount of income from the Washington, D.C., hotel property is up slightly from a year earlier.

Ivanka Trump shut down her company in July last year, saying she wanted to focus on her work as a White House adviser.

This is nepotism in it's clearest form.

The 1967 federal nepotism law states, "A public official may not appoint, employ, promote, advance, or advocate for appointment, employment, promotion, or advancement, in or to a civilian position in the agency in which he is serving or over which he exercises jurisdiction or control any individual who is a relative of the public official."

The linkage you try to make doesn't exist. The "nepotism law" (a response to JFK appointing his brother to be A.G.) has no relevancy to a person's business interests. None whatsoever.

Yes, most Republicans understand that many Democrats want capitalism outlawed and any person who owns a business imprisoned - unless of course they are super rich and give money to Democrats - and then they should be exempt from all laws and have total control and ownership of the press, media, internet and government.

What about Michelle Obama pursuing matters for schools such as meals - ADVISING the president and Congress what she wanted? Do you think she broke the "nepotism" law for advising President Obama?

Anyone who sends an letter to the President is an "adviser." Your message is nothing but endless, purely hypocritical Trump-hatred that makes no sense in law and is something every president has done.

Nor does that even address that Congress can no more create limitations on presidential power, than the president can limit Congressional power by executive orders. Sure, Congress endlessly tries to since they all WANT to be president, but they do not have the authority to reduce the power of the Presidency.

What FORMAL position do you claim the President's daughter was "appointed" to? Be specific. Every letter to the editor about the president, every press and newspaper editorial, and even every voter is an "adviser." Since it is not a formal, legally defined position Ivanka has, your message is NOTHING but more stupid, worthless and hypocritical TDS.

That's the very definition of nepotism - giving her a job based on family ties, in politics no less. Her 'advice' is there to earn a buck for the family interests.

Ivanka is volunteering at the federal level. She receives no salary or expense account. Nor does Jared.

Nor do they hold any formal position, so the law has no relevancy whatsoever.

No, it is not. She has no formal job whatsoever. That the president would listen to her - and not to you - does not make her nor the President a criminal. It just means he doesn't care why you would advise him to do. Nothing more.

Without a salary there is no fulfillment of the definition of nepotism.

You have no real idea what she does or does not do in the Whitehouse. For all you know she's in charge of the copy machines and Friday night movies. The Whitehouse Butler is ticked off she's treading on his turf.

Can her violation of the law be any clearer? Any what about Daddy? The Trump family just thumbs their nose at us and our legal system. They are, apparently, above the law because Congress is not doing their job.

What? No she didn't. In fact. DeBlasio whined about this very thing - that she could not get a salary. DeBlasio released his 2018 taxes in April. You show me on there where it shows his wife earning a salary of $250,000 last year. The only salary listed on their taxes is his - $258,750.

It's awesome. The American Dream. Understand why some hate it.

If that linkage doesn't exist (only for you) then I can give other 'linkage' to the exact same story.

Ivanka Trump made nearly $4 million last year from DC hotel - Business Insider

Ivanka Trump made almost $4 million from Trump Washington hotel last year

Ivanka Trump made $4 million from president’s D.C. hotel - The Boston Globe

Dems lemmings off cliff with media talking points.

let me know when charges have been brought otherwise its National Enquirer stuff again

I was being sarcastic at 3 in the morning. You should have picked up my tone from my first sentence "Like incest, nepotism is best when kept in the family."

Charlene runs a million dollar fund for the City that's supposed to be doing something or other, but hasn't and doesn't. However the fund did supply her with a reputed $250,000 office inclusive of other expense account perks. One locally progressive critic from Brooklyn cited this as "in come not income." The nuances of NYC politics. Mr. Bill whines about everything.

I wonder, will the wealth tax be capable of computing the value of a corner office so valuable to senior partners of WS firms?

Some post readers here are too simply literal. Sadly missing the chuckles.

That has nothing to do with nepotism laws.

It has everything to do with nepotism. Family profiting off the presidency is in direct violation of the emoluments clause.
