Trump unveils new Air Force One design plans

US President Donald Trump has revealed the renderings of the redesign of the presidential aircraft fleet, known as Air Force One.

The new design, which Mr Trump showed in an ABC interview, trades in the iconic baby blue and white exterior for more patriotic colours.

"There's your new Air Force One," he said, holding up the drawings of the red, white and blue planes.

The revamp would be the first since President John F Kennedy was in office.

Critics note a similarity between Mr Trump's private jet and the new aircraft design, which Mr Trump first announced last year.

COMMENT:-

How does he ever find time to solve so many world critical problems while still maintaining his hectic schedule of golf and "executive time"?

Aren't you glad that he isn't frittering away his time on silly things like trade or international relations?

Asked by reporters Tuesday morning about the tweet, he responded, “Well the plane is totally out of control. It’s going to be over $4 billion for [the] Air Force One program,” he said. “And I think it’s ridiculous. I think Boeing is doing a little bit of a number. We want Boeing to make a lot of money, but not that much money.” Trump did not say why he believes the planes will cost “more than $4 billion.” Boeing says it currently has an Air Force One contract worth $170 million.

A Boeing source familiar with the program told CNN that not even the company can estimate the cost of the program at this time since “the Pentagon has not even decided all the bells and whistles they want on the new Air Force One.” Without knowing all the security features it is hard to give an estimated cost, the source added, and the Air Force isn’t even sure whether it wants two or three of the planes.
“We are not sure where he is getting that number from,” said the Boeing official.

It's pretty difficult to fail "in business" if you have an effectively infinite supply of incoming money and no actual need to sell even one unit to stay in business.

True, but a particular venture can fail despite it not being a catastrophic failure for the entire enterprise.

Hopefully, the new Air Force One will be available by January, 2021.

No doubt President Joseph Biden will be eager to fly to those swing states that helped elect him the 46th president.

Even the pro-Trump Drudge Report tells us that the swing states are swinging away from The Donald.


I am hopeful that President Biden will grant a pardon to former President Trump, just as President Ford granted a pardon to former President Nixon.


It would be time to forget the past and concentrate on the future.

The future we need to concentrate upon is one that has Trump in an orange jump suit and has him living in a cage.

The pardon given to Nixon was wrong and a pardon to Trump would be wrong as it effectively gives Presidents a get out of jail free card and places them beyond the law.

I personally prefer the current (and iconic) baby blue paint scheme to the new proposed paint job. There is no other plane in the world painted like AF-1. It always stands out wherever it is.

I was recently at a youth flag football game when I heard a low flying aircraft that had just departed the nearby airport. I looked up and in an instant I knew it was AF-1. It flew a low circle around the city before departing, all the while its unmistakable blue cockpit and nose visible to all.

I think the paint design revealed by Trump makes AF-1 look like virtually any other commercial aircraft. Maybe that is the look he wants.

True, but if the over all balance sheet comes out with an aggregate loss that is greater than the actual aggregate worth of the enterprise, it really doesn't matter if your buggy whip subsidiary increased production (and profits) by 1,600%.

I am in favor of Trump personally designing his aircraft. He deserves nothing but the best.
