Two oil tankers were damaged in a suspected attack off the Gulf of Oman early Thursday, prompting the rescue of dozens of crew members. The U.S. Navy's Bahrain-based Fifth Fleet told Reuters it was assisting two tankers in the Gulf of Oman after receiving two distress calls. Details of the incident were unclear, but one of the operators made an unconfirmed report that a torpedo had hit its ship, Reuters reported.
"We are aware of the reported attack on tankers in the Gulf of Oman. U.S. Naval Forces in the region received two separate distress calls at 6:12 a.m. local time and a second one at 7:00 a.m.,'' Joshua Frey of the Fifth Fleet said. The Fleet did not blame anyone for the attack.

That is bad ju-ju...

Re: 2 oil tankers damaged in suspected attack in the Gulf of Oman, crew evacuated

It was only a matter of time before instability in the region got worse and something like this happened... our confusing, hypocritical, and disastrous foreign policy meddling in the region notwithstanding of course.

I wonder who could do such thing.

That is an interesting article. I wonder why FOX News didn't mention that

Iranian search and rescue teams picked up 44 sailors from the Front Altair and another damaged tanker, the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) reported on Thursday, citing an unnamed informed source.

The sailors were taken to the Iranian port of Jask, IRNA reported.

but I guess that it would be inconvenient to admit that the Iranians were actually leading the rescue efforts when you want to imply that it was the Iranians who attacked the ships - wouldn't it?

As we become more energy independent the less these things concern us. Let them blow each other up.

Not quite what I said.

If it is proved that Iran was responsible, let's all hope that the West (led by the United States) administers a "vigorous" response to that country.

Many people say that Iran understands only one thing: A swift kick to the butt.

Did you read the fox article?

Iran's Islamic Republic News Agency, IRNA, claimed the Front Altair had sunk, but the Norwegian shipping firm Frontline said it was still afloat.

It’s pretty clear that the IRNA isn’t reporting facts

I'm just waiting for the false flag ops people to pollute the thread.

What fries my ass is I guarantee you that gas prices have already jumped to $4 at my Cheveron. It was $3.75 or so a couple of days ago. Every time a mouse farts in the middle east, five minutes later, ~ 8000 miles away, BAM! Gas instantly goes up!

Here prices hit 2.90 on the news. And I was gonna fill up today. Damn it.

And why is it unstable now?

North Korea came and went, nothing changed, Trump needs something else that he can tackle for a short enough time before people realize he can't do anything.

No, bad things are, by definition, someone else's fault.

Once we figure out how to build a real car that runs like mine - be it nuclear fusion, solar, or simply much more efficiency - without the need for oil, what is the Middle East going to do? They have no economy otherwise except terror.

Think about it. We're only 10-15 years away from this. What are they going to do when global oil usage drops by 80 percent?

Definitely part of the Trumpian plan

don't ya really hope Trump did it?

Not really, no.

Well I could put on my tin foil hat and come up with all sorts of scenarios....

We're not ready to switch from fossil fuels just yet, so while in certain areas there will be progress, we'll still have a need for petroleum based products since it's not just used for fuel. There is also the developing world which is nowhere near making this kind of transition. The writing is on the wall though, and there isn't much money to make in terrorism.

My bet is Mossad.

It's certainly a huge coincidence how your tin-foil hat CT bollocks always aligns with your antisemitic views.
A miracle really.

My anti-Semitic views exist only in your mind.

Many people are aware of how treacherous the Israeli government is. This month is the anniversary of the attack on the USS Liberty. Yes, the deliberate attack by our "ally".
