[h=1]More brutal 2020 poll numbers for Trump[/h]
The New York Times just dropped a brutal story reporting that President Trump is instructing his aides to lie about his poor standing in internal polls. And a new poll just made their job much more difficult.

Quinnipiac University has for the first time conducted national head-to-head polls matching up Trump and some of the leading Democratic presidential hopefuls. None of the matchups is good for Trump.

Trump trails all six by between five and 13 points, with Joe Biden holding the biggest advantage and the lesser-known candidates — Sen. Cory Booker (N.J.) and Mayor Pete Buttigieg — holding the smallest leads.

The findings mirror the limited head-to-head polling we’ve seen in some key early states, with Trump trailing by as much as double digits in crucial Michigan and Pennsylvania, and even trailing Biden in Texas (!) in another Quinnipiac poll. Trump also trails in most national head-to-heads, although often not by as much as Quinnipiac indicates.

What's most telling about this story is the tactic to deal with polls that don't go his way -- just lie about what the polls said and instruct staff to lie too.

Most candidates faced with bad polling data would try to find out how they can appeal to voters. Not this one -- he just knows one thing -- how to deceive.

When internal polls show that Trump is trailing in Texas, he's got something to worry about.

Quinnipiac grossly undersampled independents.

POLL REJECTED!!

What's even better than that though is that after the last go round in 2016 his arrogant supporters just assume all polls are bull**** so no matter how badly it looks like he's going to get stomped they will convince themselves it's not happening and it's all going to work out. With any luck we can catch them sleeping and turn this into a landslide.

And this is supposed to prove what -- that your cognitive dissonance is better than data?

DATA is DEAD.....polls are only as good as information received......GOP folks are deceiving pollsters

Yep! Hillary is going to win in a landslide! Do the left never learn?

You know this how, exactly? It's what your side said in the Oct 2018 midterms too. And why are they doing it, to make Trump look weak?

Revisionist history. After the Comey letter in late October 2016, the polls narrowed but they still said that Hillary would win the popular vote -- and she did. The election was decided by 80,000 votes spread over four states to win the electoral college. It doesn't take a statistical genius to see that swinging back even a handful of disaffected coal miners who didn't get their high-paying jobs back; or farmers now struggling with tariffs; or factory workers who didn't get the promises Trump made or general voters who were promised better health coverage only to see Trump try to make it much, much worse, to see how Dems can win.

TRUMP IS PRESIDENT!

Quinnipiac grossly undersampled independents.

Ummm...in the poll Independents favored Biden over Trump by 58% to 28%. They favored Sanders 57% to 33%.

If Independents were being under sampled that would make Trump's odds look better not worse.

This is probably the 4th or 5th story I've read about this and it's becoming obvious that Trump will be soundly defeated in 2020. Texas is going to turn Democrat for certain. Basically, there is no longer a good reason to impeach him because there is no question but that he'll go down in flames next November.

There were enough “deplorables” to elect Trump. I hope Hiden Biden repeats that ****!

....no impeachment because we are winning in polls

Polling at this point in the game means nothing.
While at this point it doesn't guarantee knowing the winner, there is indeed information in these polls. When an incumbent president in a reasonably decent economy with low unemployment is trailing every opponent widely, that's telling.

What is telling also is the denial from the Trumpsters here: 'data doesn't mean anything.' 'Crowd size.' 'The polls were once wrong, so they'll always be wrong.' etc.

get used to it!

remember how confident Dems were on election night 2016.....it was false data that gave you same false sense of winning...you're doing it again.

Meh, it's still too far out. Also, we know the popular vote isn't always the electoral vote.

We'll see what happens when the DNC gets through its primaries and we're closer to the actual election.

Why this moron is still interesting?

Trump isn't good at anything. I don't get it. MAGA failed big time: US is more divided now, tax cut for the plutocrats, Trump tweeting terrible things all the time (like someone is psycho), so many crazy things... I'm not going to repeat all those here. Trump is most disgusting piece of crap. Trumpsters think that Trump is greatest leader ever? I like to see some evidence about that greatness. Lying is also Trump's "super power", that's good too? Something to be proud of? Seriously, I can't see any reason to go and cheer for Trump.

People please vote for someone reasonable next time. Someone who's respected, decent human being with empathy. Trump has no empathy, he's only living for himself. Now he's only concern is how to stay in power.

Democrats just wiped the floor with Republicans by about 10 million votes in an off year. I predict they will win the popular vote by 15 million, have a net of 250 house seats, 50 senate seats, and 1 presidency after 2020

A poll that will cook numbers can't be trusted to provide ANY accurate numbers.

Umm...what? If anything they uncooked the numbers according to you. You claimed they mistakenly under sampled independents, but under sampling independents would make Trump's numbers look better. So according to you they "cooked" the numbers to favor Trump, and he still lost by 30 points.

let me guess.....you had a party on Nov 8th 2016 in anticipation of Hillary winning...right?

I don't view politics like I do football. Both in 2016 and 2018 I was refreshing 538 though.
