Justin Amash gone from House Freedom Caucus after saying Trump'''s conduct was '''impeachable''' | Fox News

Michigan Repubican Rep. Justin Amash announced Monday evening he was leaving the influential conservative House Freedom Caucus, just weeks after he attracted the ire of his colleagues by arguing in Twitter posts that President Trump had committed impeachable offenses, Fox News has learned.

Amash, speaking at a Freedom Caucus board meeting, insisted his departure was voluntary. Amash said he did not want to continue to be a "further distraction" for the caucus, which is chaired by North Carolina GOP Rep. Mark Meadows.

Ohio Rep. Jim Jordan, a member of the Freedom Caucus, told Fox News' "Ingraham Angle" Monday evening that Meadows and Amash mutually came to the decision after several conversations.
Jordan said the Republican members of the group still consider Amash a friend, but that their disagreements were "sharp" and significant.
Looks like Democrats may be getting another member.

This is becoming a classic illustration of how much Republicans have gone off the deep end.

Even the article will point out that Amash has a reasonably high rating from the American Conservative Union (ACU) going up some 10 points inside of a single year, but while the article points out that Amash stands at 88 last year against Jordan scoring 100 last year it fails to point out that Amash has a better rating by that organization than half of all other Republicans in the House today. Allen, Burgess, Byrne, Hill, Collins, Gibbs, Crawford, Scott, Tipton, Sanford, Brooks, it turns out Amash has a better rating than all of them (according to their own website.) Amash agrees and votes along Trump / Republican party lines over 92% of the time according to FiveThirtyEight up almost 10 points from the previous Congress.

But none of that is good enough for today's "Conservatives" and Republicans, aka Trump's Ass Kissing Party, going so far as to suggest Amash become a Democrat.

All because he actually read Mueller's report and realizes Barr misrepresented what the conclusions were.

Sad times we are entering, and it ends the debate on Republicans in fact being the party of exclusion.

Well duh, the HFC is a sham. They are nothing but the cult of Trump now, why would Amash want to be associated with that?

Yeah, amash is treated like a friend who has the bubonic plague. The freedom caucus is the tea party on stupid steroids.

Hopefully, the voters in Mr. Amash's district will retire him in 2020.

Idiots like Jim Jordan. Mark Meadows and Fox News are actually proud to wear the label "Trump Ass Kisser".

The Republicans deserve to lose every election they are in for the next generation. Amash is a real Republican, unlike Trump and the fools who support him. I'm glad he did this. The Freedom Caucus doesn't deserve Amash.

How disgusting that the Republican Party has now become simply The Party of Trump.

So now you're saying that Trump DID collude with the Russians? Seems a little removed from reality.

Does this level of delusion occur naturally?

Yes, the party of Trump which stands for division, hatred and bigotry.

In the short term this means nothing. In the long term, also nothing.

Why would they? Amash's voting record is impeccably conservative. He just isn't a Trump asslicker, so it has the Trumptard supporters (who believe in Trump over country) in an uproar.

This has been going since since the start of the Tea Party. And now it's the same with Trump.. It's either the far right, radial right's way, or the highway. Party before country.

I remember during Obama's terms there were Republican Congressmen who said not only couldn't they compromise with Obama about any issue, even ones that benefited the country, they couldn't even be seen TALKING to Obama. If they talked to him their constituents would be up and arms.

The Republican Party is now dangerous, and has become so radical it borders on traitorous.

Absolutely no surprise from Justin Amash.
The guy despises president Trump. He did before Trump was elected president.
Funny to watch all the spasms from the left, anti trump folks.

Republicans vowing to never back Trump

Republicans vowing to never back Trump | TheHill

A number of prominent Republicans are vowing to never back Donald Trump even as he closes in on the GOP presidential nomination.

The "Never Trump" ranks include lawmakers, party operatives, pundits and GOP donors — and the movement even sparked a popular hashtag on social media.

They are convinced Trump as standard-bearer would lead the GOP to a devastating defeat in November, costing the party the Senate and potentially the House.

Rep. Justin Amash (Mich.)

I'll note for the record you glossed right over the Obstruction of Justice part on your way to ad hominem... predictably.

To more accurately describe themselves, they should rename the caucus to the "White Christian Men's Freedom Caucus and Trump Admiration Society".

I would never want to be a member of a caucus that is as transparently owned by Koch brother billions and beholden to the kochs only.

Amash had a real reason to agree with impeaching this imbecile president.

**** the freedom caucus and the tea party. Grifters and astro turfed "grass roots" one and all.

need to catch up on Koch brothers new favs...not GOP

"... Amash said he did not want to continue to be a "further distraction" for the caucus ..."

I think it's more that Amash realized that his personal connection to China (part-owner of a Chinese company) would be even more exposed and could be damaging to the family tool business.
His family probably told him to get out of the limelight ...

The Kochs have funded and invented the rotten root of the freedom caucus, the tea party movement, a bunch of mislead fools who believed they were grass roots but were doing the bidding of their hollow, aristocratic overlords, the Koch Brothers.

Good move on Amash's part. I would not want to be part of any group that has Jim Jordan as a major member of.

The House Liberty Caucus is nothing more than a formal ass kissing club for Trump. They are a disgrace.

You should be giving that sermon to Elaine Chao.
