GOP opponent says AOC ‘literally ran’ away when challenged to debate

Re: GOP opponent says AOC literally ran away when challenged to debate

This is stupid. Chasing after a person marching in a parade? Cmon people, this kind of stuff makes us look petty and stupid...….good lord....SMH

Re: GOP opponent says AOC literally ran away when challenged to debate

She was afraid those racist cauliflowers were start sprouting.

Why do you think making **** up is a good debate strategy?

Re: GOP opponent says AOC literally ran away when challenged to debate

Which has nothing to do with the parade she was attending, so yes, you made **** up. If you are going to insult someone, at least do a decent job of it...

It does explain why she rushed away, as I pointed out.

Not really, no. You might read what was actually happening...

So should you...

Re: GOP opponent says AOC literally ran away when challenged to debate

It seems that AOC's 15 minutes of fame is coming to an end.

As the 20+ Dem candidates start getting all the media attention as they try to cut into Mr. Biden's lead, many people will be asking: "Alexandria WHO?"

Re: GOP opponent says AOC literally ran away when challenged to debate

Awww poor baby. They need to be hounded....uh er debated wherever they go.

I'd say AOC ought to be followed to restaurants and other activities, and harassed in the manner the political left has embraced. I expect we'd find out quickly that the political left doesn't like to be treated as they treat others.

Re: GOP opponent says AOC literally ran away when challenged to debate

He thought that while she was marching in a parade it would be a good time to set up a debate? Is this guy a ****ing idiot?

Oh, ok. Question answered.

I have such a hard time believing that people actually give a single crap about a random representative blowing off a random ambush by ignoring them, but I guess if you support Trump you really need to divert from his actions as much as possible.

Your apology for her is laughable.

Re: GOP opponent says AOC literally ran away when challenged to debate

She had to check on her yucca plants.

She needed to feed the dog.

Re: GOP opponent says AOC literally ran away when challenged to debate

Has Alexandria Ocasio Cortez debated anyone besides Joe Crowley, who she primaried?

Here is my question to you, Redress: Is Representative Ocasio-Cortez under any obligation whatsoever to engage in a serious debate in defense of her positions? Because as far as I am concerned, no politician is necessarily obligated (certainly not legally obligated) to debate anyone, including their main political opponent for the office. I think it is ultimately up to the Representative candidate's constituency whether they want someone who is willing to engage in serious debate to defend their views versus a sh*t-talker who snipes at political adversaries from his or her pulpit then ducks and runs when confronted. What say you?
Debating random idiots falsely elevates them to a position of equals. It’s the same problem when you see two talking heads on CNN or whatever. One one side is a professor of (insert relevant subject here) and on the other side is some lawyer from a “think tank” that exists solely to lobby business interests. The impression is that these are two equal opinions on the topic debating each other, but what’s really happening is one side is an expert giving informed opinion and the other is literally marketing.

AOC should not debate random dip****s in the street while she’s participating in a parade. Nor should she bother wasting time on random twitter trolls demanding a debate.

Re: GOP opponent says AOC literally ran away when challenged to debate

Your apology for her is laughable.

Show me one conservative who ever stopped in a parade to debate someone.

Re: GOP opponent says AOC literally ran away when challenged to debate

So you think she should stop and debate any random yahoo that flags her down while she's in a parade? Seriously, your comments have gone straight to 50 shades of retarded.

Re: GOP opponent says AOC literally ran away when challenged to debate

Oh right, when she was in a parade, and he randomly started shouting debate me at her, she continued on with the parade.

I guess to someone who really wants to make it look that way, it can be construed as running away from a debate challenge.

Other people, smarter people, will probably just see it and anyone pathetic enough to try and pass that narrative off for what it is, a massive fail.

Re: GOP opponent says AOC literally ran away when challenged to debate

Debating random idiots falsely elevates them to a position of equals.

They are equals, unless it is your opinion that elected politicians are simply better human beings by virtue of being elected.

So is it your belief that Representative Ocasio Cortez is such an expert in her particular field that her opinions and positions cannot be reasonably challenged or held up to scrutiny in the forum of public debate? Because if that is your belief, I find it hard to see how it is justified by the facts. Or is her position as unchallenged expert simply being an elected politician who holds positions that you strongly agree with and you do not want to see rigorously challenged?

AOC should not debate random dip****s in the street while she’s participating in a parade. Nor should she bother wasting time on random twitter trolls demanding a debate.

Well, now that you have given your position to who Representative Ocasio-Cortez should not debate, who exactly should she debate, if anyone? If not political adversaries, should she not at least enunciate and defend her ideas against someone who shares most of her ultimate ends, but simply disagrees with her means, like John Delaney who she sniped at but then refused to engage with when he challenged her?

Keep in mind, Deuce, I have two opinions on the subject: one that I am sure you share, and one that I am sure you do not. The first is that, like you, I do not think a politician is obligated in any way to debate political opponents or adversaries or even people who disagree on particular points of policy. When a politician runs for reelection, he or she could say "I will not debate any political opponents, because my beliefs and positions are so self-evidently correct and moral, that to debate anyone is to give voice and platform to manifestly unreasonable and immoral thoughts and opinions. Therefore, I will never debate anyone ever again. If you do not like that, do not vote for me." Representative Ocasio-Cortez could say that and it would be perfectly acceptable as long as she is honest from the outset.

My second opinion on this matter is that Representative Ocasio-Cortez does not want to actively debate anyone because, on a personal level, she does not appear to have more than a surface-level knowledge of the issues that condenses into populist talking points. If she was to actually debate someone with knowledge of economics, environmental policies, foreign policy, and the like, she would be made to look foolish and ignorant, or might lose her composure under the pressure to respond. It would be she who looks like the lobbyist versus the expert. When you have created an aura of meteoric invincibility around yourself, it is dangerous to put yourself in a position where you could be made to look a fool. You only want to engage in battles that you know you can win. And in the age of viral social media, I am sure she is aware that a ten second clip circling on Youtube or Twitter of her stuttering to find her words or a blank look on her face or simply saying an ill-considered comment against an opponent would shatter that aura for all save her most fanatical supporters. And I do not think she can afford to let that happen.

In the realm of being an unchallenged populist agitator and social media s***-talker, Representative Ocasio-Cortez is a master. When it comes to debating and defending her positions, however? That remains to be seen.

No one has said she cannot be approached. Liberals don't play the victim constantly. What has been pointed out repeatedly is that not engaging with random creepy people is not "running away".

Not as long as conservatives continue to let her live rent free in their heads. Remember, what she did here was simply attend a parade, and conservatives managed to make a big deal out of even that.

Huh. Looks to me like the OP is claiming AOC ran away, with witnesses confirming her rapid spin and departure.

Rapid departure is the correct response to random people who accost you on the street.

Anyone demanding a debate mid-parade can safely be ignored.
Anyone demanding a debate on “the merits of capitalism versus socialism” can also safely be ignored because the very premise of the “debate” is a fallacy. Anyone unable to recognize that is not equipped to hold a debate on capitalism or socialism.

Right. AOC doesn't know her political opponent.

Would you please explain why it is a fallacy?

The guy was not her political opponent, he is a worker for a talk radio show. Avoiding random creepy loud guy is not running away.

AOC does not advocate all out socialism, and no country uses all out pure capitalism. Everyone, and that is literally every single person, lives under some mixture of socialism and capitalism.
