US makes deal with Mexico on tariffs, immigration, Trump announces | Fox News

The U.S. has reached an agreement with Mexico that heads off the start of tariffs on Monday.
The deal, announced by President Trump via tweet on Friday night, is said to include plans to return migrants seeking asylum to Mexico, where they will remain until their claims can be processed.
"I am pleased to inform you that The United States of America has reached a signed agreement with Mexico. The Tariffs scheduled to be implemented by the U.S. on Monday, against Mexico, are hereby indefinitely suspended," he said. "Mexico, in turn, has agreed to take strong measures to....stem the tide of Migration through Mexico, and to our Southern Border. This is being done to greatly reduce, or eliminate, Illegal Immigration coming from Mexico and into the United States. Details of the agreement will be released shortly by the State Department. Thank you!"
I hope this helps to reduce illegal immigration.

I hope that the Trump opposition is not too proud to concede, and admit that this is a good deal for our country.

PFFFFTT :lamo When Hell freezes over.

That would hurt their chances of reelection. They are quite happy about hurting this country as long as it doesn't blow back on them.

They are their own worst enemy; politics before country partisans.
Protecting our borders should come before politics. If it doesn't, one has to seriously wonder how this same group of partisans tried to pretend that Trump was the enemy of the state. Think about that.

Pride goes before the fall;)

Ya know what, and yes, I am the eternal optimist, but I am hoping the Trump haters see the light for the good of our country's protection, and sovereignty. Any president who greatly increases the chances that the borders will become more secure through a deal with MX. should be applauded.
America should no longer ask MX to help us... we demand it, and if they don't see it our way, hit them where it will hurt them financially.
They need us way more than we need them.... Glad to see MX came to their senses.

No more than you are to concede his failings and incompetency.

Trump haters will never see past their hatred.

Lady, he was simply given a face saving word salad.

He was not going to win in any tariff war. We pay for it, not Mexico. Everyone that understands basic economics understands this. Even McConnell was ready to override him. His hand was empty, so asked Mexico for a face saving measure, and they obliged him.

Sorry. Hate is blind. Almost nothing can overcome hate.

I've said over and over again that I wish he would curtail that mouth of his and have stated this on this forum... The onus remains with you to prove I have not condemned him for being an ass at times.

Have fun searching.

Sad that you cannot rise above your stinking politics, and give our president his dues for making this right.

This sounds like it's more in line of 'North Korea won't do any more missiles'

I did not like Obama's policies, (long on money short on substance), but I beg those who knew this to defy me when I say I did not hate him and I certainly did not resist him or make up **** up about him because I needed to win.

So many times I said he'd be great to have a beer with... but I don't want my president to be my friend, I want my president to take a stand for for my country, unlike Obama who spent his days apologizing for for America.

I'm not going to give him credit until we see actual results, not just pretty words he was able to get on paper.

Obama got all kinds of hell for the Iran deal, yet you guys have given Trump a pass for all of his foreign policy ****-ups, and pretend you can't see how badly he embarrasses himself and this country.

I haven't a clue as to what you are trying to say...

It's not just that Trump is a douche. I know you think that's only argument against him, but that's not our main problem with him.

He's an awful, awful negotiator. He has emboldened dictators and praised their leadership, while getting nothing in return but photo-shoots. He's started trade wars with our neighbors. He's shredded good faith deals that took years to happen. He's angered important allies, and been shown to be an embarrassing rank buffoon at diplomacy.

You can't see it, good for you. I wish I couldn't.

Of course you are not going to give him credit now or ever....

That's a given. You love your politics more than you respecgt our president's attempts to keep America's sovereignty, borders safely in check from some who do wish us harm.
Our country is overwhelmed right now because of the the influx of those who are claiming political asylum. MX., the first country the central American migrants step foot in should be sharing the burden until the GD Democrats cough up the funds to help us deal with the asylum crisis.

And don't you dare lecture me that this is not a crisis. I live in a border city...

Yeah, we get it.
You hate him because of your politics. You have hated him since the day he was duly elected by the EC.
It is not his fault the Democrats ran Hillary. It is THEIR fault, a gigantic fact that you and many others need to come to grips with.
He is a great negotiator, and he proved it in the 11th hour today.

DEAL.

The way Trump spins deals and accomplishments are more fiction than actuality.

Yeah, that must be why MX. caved to the United State's premier negotiator in the eleventh hour.

Respectfully, but do you actually believe in the crap you are trying to sell?

America won today because the WH gave MX. a deal they couldn't refuse or it would have been economic suicide for the people of their country. Be happy for our country, but also be happy for the working Mexicans who needed their government to bend for their sake.
