Border Patrol agents have seen a "dramatic rise" in the number of African migrants detained at the U.S.-Mexico border over the past week, the U.S. Customs and Border Protection agency has said. In a statement on Wednesday, CBP said that in the six days since May 30, more than 500 people from African countries had been arrested by Border Patrol's Del Rio Sector in Texas alone.

The agency said that had arrested a group of 34 people that same day and had previously detained a number of large groups caught trying to cross the Rio Grande River, including one group of more than 100 people. CBP said the majority of the groups' members had been families coming from the Republic of the Congo, the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) and Angola.

In addition to being the battlefield for one of the world's bloodiest civil wars, the DRC has also been hit by one of the biggest Ebola outbreaks in history, with more than 2,000 cases reported in the last 10 months.

Our southern border is so weak, even people from Africa know its a soft target. They're sailing, or flying all the way from another continent, in order to sneak into our country via the southern border. If Trump doesn't do something to secure our border (and let's be honest here- none of the current 2020 contenders are going to go against big corporate America to fix our border), then he is a waste of a President, and a sellout.

Have you been living in a reality vacuum? Are you unaware of the actions Trump has taken to deal with this border crisis? Are you unaware of his constant rhetoric slamming Congress for not working with him to deal with this crisis?

Why would you want to blame Trump when he is the only person in Washington who is working to deal with this crisis?

The article says those they could track came into Brazil. They sure went through alot of countries that didn't stop them.

The last thing Trump wants is to tighten up the border. Complaining about it, and using it to scare his base, is his main campaign strategy.

If he wanted to do something about it, he would have in his first two years in office, when he had all the votes lined up.

So why didn't he?

Trump won't do anything other than lots of talk to energize his base.

If Trump really wanted to permanently change things, he would have done it in his first two years, when he had all the votes to get whatever he wanted passed. But all he did was give himself and his cronies huge tax cuts, and get rid of environmental regulations to again enrich the top 1%. All being paid for by his base through tariffs.

Trump has been trying to get Congress to work with him since the day he took Office. And no...he's NEVER had "all the votes lined up".

What 'crisis' are you referring to? The most powerful nation in the world has been inundated with migrant caravans since 2010, and our government has pretended we can't stop them from entering. Of course we can, we simply choose not to.

Trump enjoyed his first 2 years in office with a Republican house and senate, and in that time he didn't try to get his border wall built, he merely talked about it every chance he got. Instead, his real accomplishments include signing bills to let people out of prison early, a global war on homophobia, and a global war on antisemitism.

Even the most diehard Trump supporter should be asking themselves if they've been suckered at this point.

Appeal to ridicule is very successful on Twitter, and other platforms with low-information users. When Mike Pompeo wetted himself exclaiming Trump was chosen by God to save Israel, even the most apathetic progressive should have been saying what **** is going in DC right now. Charles Schumer has said that he's Israel's Superman, on a mission to be their worker bee in the American Senate. We're now being fed a bowl of bull**** soup about why we should invade Iran. How many more clues do you need?

You need to give up on the "what crisis?" thing. Even your own Trump hating media have had to admit that the crisis is real.

Perhaps you are pretending to not know about the DACA negotiations early in Trump's presidency. Do you remember what that was all about? Do you remember how it turned out? (Hint: That was Trump trying to get Congress to do something about illegal and legal immigration.)

They helped fabricate the 'crisis' narrative from the beginning. Yes, we have a crisis on our hands simply because our government has decided that we are no longer a sovereign nation deserving of the right to defend our borders from hordes of non-Americans seeking a share of our prosperity. The media is only too happy to portray this as a 'crisis' which we must throw our hands up in exasperation, and submissively accept.

Yes, and when a single death at Charlottesville ousted Steve Bannon, Little Lord Kushner took over Trump's domestic policy making decisions. Since then, there have been deaths daily due to illegal immigration. And most have probably forgotten the name of the woman killed at Charlottesville.

Today the US uses 40% of its' arable production to make fuel with. The EU does a similar amount. The largest single customer of grain in the UK is a plant that uses Russian grain to make fuel.

This has caused the world food price to be twice as much as it should be.

This, for us rich people, is a little concern, about $900 per year, but for the 3 billion people who live on less than $2.50 per day it is catastrophic. They have life expectancies in the 40s. Without this artificial price inflation they would expect to get to around 60.

Why do you think that there would not be a drive to leave the place where people sleep hungry to get to the place where you can easily live out of the bins?
