  • Special counsel Robert Mueller will make a statement on Wednesday regarding his investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election, his first public comments regarding the high-profile probe he was appointed to lead two years ago.
  • The event, scheduled for 11 a.m. ET at the Department of Justice, will be streamed live on the department’s website, according to a press release. Mueller will not take questions.

His statement will probably be brief. Further questioning will be behind closed doors in front of Congress. He's not going to take any questions.

Interesting. I'm not even sure I know what his voice sounds like.

Interesting. I'm not even sure I know what his voice sounds like.

I've only seen a video of him testifying before Congress years ago.

I think his statement will be brief and it will be as apolitical as it could possibly be.

So when his overall message agrees with Barr will Democrats let it die?

Mueller's bud Comey just yesterday published an oped in the WaPo saying he Comey was confident Barr's inquisition against the investigators would come out okay for the good guys. Perhaps Mueller will confirm this. After all, each Comey and Mueller is a chain of command guy who doesn't rock the boat and the Mueller appearance today at DoJ was just announced in a Department news release. Perhaps DoJ ran out ahead of the event with its release yet I can't conceive of the milquetoast Mueller throwing hand grenades at DoJ or Trump.

I think for the most part it's going to be his resignation announcement. Anything of pertinence will go on behind closed doors, the public will never see or hear it and both sides will politicize it entirely for their own self-interests.

It is his resignation that will allow him to testify before Congress without Trump's permission.

His public statement is probably going to be boring and uninformative. My main concern is whether his Q&A with Congress will be on the record.

Maybe a more visual knock-down of allegations in Wolf’s new book?

Sure. I'll ask you an equally speculative and loaded question, when Trump admits to all of his lawbreaking and corruption will Republicans finally drop their support?

No chance of that. Democrats have no tolerance for anyone who disputes the story they spent so much time and political capital to create.

Everything that goes on in official Congressional meetings, whether it's a run of the mill bill they're voting on, or whether it's interviewing witnesses. Every word, every period and every comment made by everyone is kept as an official record and preserved as public record.

They won't. They'll say he was badgered, harassed and forced into it. Who knows, they may even say someone tortured him into lying about being a liar. They will support him no matter what, right to the bitter end whether it's in 2020 or 2024, they will go down the drain with him, us and the rest of this country. We're all swirling around that drain now, so if there's 4 hour years of his incompetence and corruption, there won't be a country left.

I’m going to sit back and watch the:spin: after Mueller talks.

Reminds me of Benghazi and her emails. All that political capital wasted. All those investigations and...nothing. That explains why the right hates Comey so much. He said she wasn't guilty, and the GOP tried desperately to prove her guilty.

Such a big fail for the Republicans.

He’s going to speculate on who drew the dicks on American Vandal.

Well, in the Clinton case there was nothing found because a lot of stuff never got turned over and some of it was KNOWINGLY destroyed while under subpoena. I mean, you're right that nothing was found but the reason nothing was found was COMPLETELY different than with Trump.

Each of us will determine or judge what Mueller's overall message is. You should not expect others to adhere or to comply to your understanding of it or of your interpretation of it. Virtually everyone is expecting Mueller to be rather milquetoast in his statement so it would be difficult to spin vanilla into a strawberry chocolate swirl no matter how desperate one may be to try.

The only place for Mueller to speak appropriately is in Congress where he can also be questioned and be obligated to answer. Along this line Mueller may announce today his separation from DoJ where he's still under contract. He may have something to say to the Congress directly via this event. I say these things to point out to you that you should not get too far out ahead of yourself in anticipating Mueller.

Placing so much emphasis on Mueller has disallowed democrats from addressing very real issues with the modern conservative movement.

He isn't going to testify and the Democrats don't want him to. He's already offered to testify in a closed session and make the transcript public, but the Democrats balked.

Ah, so no evidence was found to convict her of anything. I guess this means you'll stop calling her a criminal now and chanting about locking her up.

He'll probably say :" I did the investigation. I found all kinds of obstruction of justice and if it were up to me, he'd be in jail!!!....also Climate change is real, trickle down doesn't work and the rich need to pay their fair share...."
