Trump gives AG Barr authority to declassify documents related to 2016 campaign surveillance

I'd say it's amazing how quickly you guys threw the IG investigation under the bus once you realized that it wasn't going to bear fruit, but by now I'm not surprised at all.

Why did Obama let this happen? They knew the Russians were actively causing trouble and did little to try and stop it. Why did they not notify the Trump election team of the Russian activity?
Soon we will know many more answers when all of the classified material becomes know to the public and the DOJ.

This is EXACTLY why these documents are being released. Releasing them prior to the conclusion of the IG report would have compromised the report. People need to be careful with this, though. It could very well turn out similar to the Mueller investigation... conduct that is not flattering of those being investigated but no real "there" there.

I'm curious to see how this all plays out.

Remember folks, the deputy AG and FBI director that were appointed by Trump have no doubt seen these warrants, and the former signed a renewal application. We already know there was something illegal about the investigation.
Former FBI general counsel James Baker is under a criminal investigation for leaks and McCabe for lying about leaking.

Hard to claim the investigation was legitimate when details of the investigation it were leaked to the press prior to the election
I mean if you guys are so sure it was legal then wouldn't you want these documents declassified ?
It would prove Trump and his supporters we're wrong the entire time

Didn't an IG report get McCabe and Strzok fired?
 
These documents are not just limited to what IG Horowitz has been investigating with the FBI and DOJ but an order for the Intel community to declassify docs and fully cooperate with AG Barr.

The IG is investigating several different angles. The report on FISA abuse and surveillance is the one that has been reported as "coming out soon". Trump releasing these documents would indicate that this particular report is now concluded.

The former hasn't had jack brought against him, and McCabe's statements were totally unrelated to the FISA warrants.

Dude, if the FBI wanted to use this against Trump, why didn't they leak it during the election? That totally undermines your narrative that those agents followed department policy and kept it confidential.

Meanwhile, the FBI field office in NY did leak to the press in order to make an impact on the election, so if anything there was a "deep state" against Clinton at that time.

You know Gowdy and Nunes saw these full FISA warrants over a year and half ago, right? If there was something criminal there, they'd have told the president to declassify the applications, ASAP, and they'd have destroyed Mueller right then.

Rosenstein, Boente, and Wray, all of whom Trump appointed, also saw these warrants. Do you think they're aware of a criminal coup, or something improper, and are just either oblivious to it , or helping cover it up? Please, for once, try not to be so absurd.

I'm betting the documents will show that 10 days before the first FISA application was submitted, that the FBI knew who Steele was working for, knew Steele was leaking to the press, knew that he was talking to the State department, knew that his dossier was filled with inaccuracies and straight up lies and knew he wanted his information to be made public prior to the election. ( Which it was )

It will also show that the FBI hid exculpatory evidence and information and that information will be made available.

It will also show Brennan pushed for the dossier to be added to the ICA, and Comey went along with it.

"We found no evidence that political bias or other improper considerations factored into the FBI's decision to seek the FISA warrants".

There are some very interesting things going on right now that no one outside of a select few with top secret clearance have any way of knowing "for sure". This excludes everyone on this site.

I was talking about the existence of an FBI probe into Trump. Why didn't Strzok or Page leak that?

Steele met with State Deputy Assistant Secretary of State Kathleen Kavalec 10 days before the FBI submitted their first FISA application.
