[W:89]Russian documents reveal desire to sow racial discord — and violence — in the U.S.

Re: [W:89]Russian documents reveal desire to sow racial discord — and violence — in the U.S.

I'd say they got their wish with President "very fine people," who used that term to describe Nazis marching in Charlottesville.

The real sin is that nothing substantive is being done to stop further Russian attacks on our election system.

Trump had nothing to do with Charlottesville where one person was killed by a deranged madman. American commie democrats, however, have everything to do with fomenting black racist unrest, hatred and murder of cops, and seditious attempts to disrupt the elected president, government, laws and traditions of the US.

Re: Russian documents reveal desire to sow racial discord — and violence — in the U.S.

The whole “the counter protestors caused the nazis to be violent” narrative is easily disproven by the fact the nazis attacked several people that were not part of the counter protest. Namely members of a multi-ethnic church who were saved by antifa.

Nobody is claiming that Trump had anything to do with Charlottesville. We're simply stating (I guess not simply enough for some) that his response and reactions further emboldened white supremacists and Nazis. How do I know? They said so.

No they didnt, there is nothing that bears that out. The nazis came to charlottesville to stir up violence. James alex fields committed pre-meditated murder. End of story. The last part is true though. The city council should never have given the nazis a permit to begin with.

I'm not sure what the "no they didn't" applies to. It seems obvious to me that if the cops had separated the two groups, most of the violence would have been averted, though Fields probably would have taken the same course of action.

There's a distinction, whether it means anything to you or not, between what the rally's planners wanted and what their followers wanted. The organizers had no motive to want actual violence: they wanted publicity, the better to swell their ranks. Obviously some of the rank-and-file went wanting a fight, but so did the counter-protesters:

Charlottesville Police Chief Al S. Thomas Jr. said the rallygoers went back on a plan that would have kept them separated from the counterprotesters. Instead of coming in at one entrance, he said, they came in from all sides. Headlong into the counterprotesters.

A few minutes before 11 a.m., a swelling group of white nationalists carrying large shields and long wooden clubs approached the park on Market Street. About two dozen counterprotesters formed a line across the street, blocking their path. With a roar, the marchers charged through the line, swinging sticks, punching and spraying chemicals.

I am in no way denying the responsibility of the protesters who assaulted people, but it makes no sense to pretend that the counter-protesters were a cross between angels and patriotic superheroes. Let's assume this account of one group of blocking another is correct. Doesn't that go beyond the bounds of counter-protest? The idea of counter-protesting is to keep to your own bailiwick and make your voice heard against your opponent, not to block the other group and challenge its members to a battle royale.

I'm sure there were individual examples of protesters becoming violent against individuals without cause. That doesn't mean that there were no counter-protesters who started fights without provocation, though, with so many protesters to choose from, the former were less likely to pick on unaligned individuals. But since it's documented fact that Antifa people have assaulted unaligned individuals in other situations, like the assaults at Berkeley in the same year, the Antifa at least are more than capable of doing the same thing you condemn from the alt-Right protesters.

Let me ask you a related question:

In a parallel world, Hillary wins both popular and electoral votes; becomes President.

Do you believe that the alt-Right planners, who were patently been building their power base all through the Obama years, would suddenly fade into the night just because Trump did NOT win?

Is it not more logical that they would continue to build on the idea that they needed to mount more protests to counter the insidious influence of the Left that continued with HC's ascendance?

And that motivation would have been just as transparently manipulative as anything they said in the real world about how Trump supposedly encouraged them.

I'm wondering if anyone cares to get back to the topic raised in the OP: that the Russians had the (unused) idea that they could sow chaos by radicalizing American blacks.

Is this an idea they got from observing the occasional success of Islamic radicalization of Americans (by which I mean full-fledged terrorist activity, not just conversion to the religion)?

It's not Trump's fault what deranged followers say any more than it was Obama's fault for what deranged followers said either.

Wicked Russians have not been the only evil savages to promote such a violent idea. Bill Ayers, Charles Manson, and Saul Alinsky, among hundreds of others, have also suggested stirring up blacks in America for the purpose of destabilizing the country and making it susceptible to overthrow by leftist oligarchs.

You understand that movements have momentum right? If Trump had lost his tactics would not have been legitimized. The movement would not have gone away, but it would have declined instead of grown. Shame kept white supremacist relegated to the sidelines for decades. Some of their resurgence is due to Trump's grand demonstration, that shameless behavior is no longer as much of a barrier to the acquisition of political power, as it once was. That you can repeat any lie, and if you never have to admit you are wrong or say you are sorry, you can continue to behave as if it's true.

Re: [W:89]Russian documents reveal desire to sow racial discord — and violence — in the U.S.

I'm extremely skeptical of this. I mean the US isn't some bastion of racial equality, you don't need foreign interference to stoke racial tensions, we do that well enough on our own.

Re: [W:89]Russian documents reveal desire to sow racial discord — and violence — in the U.S.

What "Russian attacks on our electoral system"?

There hasn't been a single documented instance of a ballot being changed after it was cast and that proves that there were NO "Russian attacks on our electoral system".

Well - doesn't it?

Free speech - the speaking and the hearing - is a thing.

Describing it as an "attack" - however cleverly - is outrageous.

Re: Russian documents reveal desire to sow racial discord — and violence — in the U.S.

The corporate actions of a non-governmental (and for profit) entity are within the discretion of that entity PROVIDED that they do not violate existing law.

There is no existing law which requires a non-governmental (and for profit) entity to provide "no charge services" to anyone simply because someone wants to use those services free of charge.

Facebook cannot discriminate in allowing access to it's free public platform, and must permit free speech.

Re: Russian documents reveal desire to sow racial discord — and violence — in the U.S.

Kind of funny how the so-called party of smaller government wants government to be more intrusive to people and organizations it doesn't like.

Facebook must simply obey existing law, and honor the Constitution; no "intrusion" necessary.

Re: [W:89]Russian documents reveal desire to sow racial discord — and violence — in the U.S.

When it comes right down to it, you do nothing but obfuscate away from far right hate groups. There is absolutely no equivalence between the unite the righters and counter protesters. This desperate desire to equivocate when people point that out kind of shows where your sympathies lie in the end.

Makes no sense. In terms of the right to free speech, you're wildly wrong. Complete nonsense & irrelevant ad hom.

Well said, you described his posts perfectly.

Complete nonsense/irrelevant ad hom.

Re: Russian documents reveal desire to sow racial discord — and violence — in the U.S.

Sadly for many Americans, the two are equivalent. They support what their parents and grandparents died fighting against.

Baseless claim founded in a fantasy premise. Ditto.

Re: Russian documents reveal desire to sow racial discord — and violence — in the U.S.

The degradation of the US school system has largely lead to that.

Baseless nonsense.

Nobody has said this. It is the slavish effort by people like you to lick the balls of Trump.

We can say people are licking other people's genitals here?

Super-duper radically cool beans. :)
