Kentucky health officials are proposing a ban on tattooing over scarred skin, a plan that could block one of the reasons why some people get a tattoo in the first place.

We're really going overboard here. Abortion laws have a reason behind them. This is just controlling people's lives.

Hard to call a law reasonable and necessary when no reason for the law was stated. Perhaps some campaign cash from plastic surgery interests might be involved.

The right wants to control your life their way, the left theirs. Bottom line, whether left or right, their agenda is control of other peoples lives. Tattoos, Crazy law.

Exactly. Abortion laws (and Roe V Wade) were more about right to privacy.

Whatever happened to the party that was against government control of peoples' lives? I think it's gone forever, and has been replaced by refugees from padded rooms.

IMHO, the constant need for campaign cash allows (causes?) government to go (grow?) in directions which it otherwise would not.
 
So if you get a tattoo over a scar in Ohio does that make you a criminal when you enter Kentucky?

The government is all about controlling peoples' lives. Drug laws, anti-abortion laws, and this absurdity from the Bible Belt.

Since "writing" has been recognized as falling within the 1st Amendment "freedom of speech" provisions, as has drawing, painting, movies, and television, this proposed legislation is clearly unconstitutional as it infringes on a person's 1st Amendment "freedom of speech" rights.

On the other hand, the legislators could simply have spent a couple of hours too long in the bar.

I suspect that there is a possibility that the legislation is an attempt to prevent women from obliterating the "Scarlet A" that will be tattooed on their foreheads if they are convicted of engaging in sexual relations outside of marriage that some of the Kentucky legislators would really like to see introduced.
