Facebook busts Israel-based campaign to disrupt elections

Can you explain why those who "defend" the actions of some Israelis on the grounds that the actions were taken by a "private firm" condemn the "Steele Dossier" even though it was prepared by the private investigative firm Fusion GPS?

I can't.

Who has "defended the actions"?

Please stop being so anti Semitic.

Is that a joke?

Because it is invoked so frequently these days, the term "anti-Semitic" has lost all meaning. Its connotation has become "I don't like the truth".

Need to clarify “not NECESSARILY”....whom are deciders? Facebook employees?

"Not NECESSARILY" means exactly that.

The identity of "the deciders" is irrelevant because all that that "not NECESSARILY" says/implies is that there is going to be a bit of a grey area.

To clarify "grey area" the old lawyer's joke is that the "grey area" is summed up by

If you were already in a mental institution they wouldn't let you out, but if you were not already in a mental institution they wouldn't put you in.

Who has "defended the actions"?

Everyone who has said that it is "anti-Semitic" to investigate this matter further, or who has said that the matter should NOT be investigated because it was "only a private firm" involved.

Yes I would.

Please stop talking about the Israelis in an unflattering way, you're part of the problem. Anti-Semitism is the problem, not Israeli campaigns to interfere in elections. America and Russia do it all the time.

Why do you hate the Jews?

Please stop believing that ALL Jews are good people and never sin. That's just being narrow-minded and shows a lack of integrity on your part. There's both good and evil in men, even in Jews. You need to open your mind up and understand that blindly following either Trump or Israel is just wrong. As I said, there's good and evil in all.

People have the right to see someone in an 'unflattering way' as you put it because they have a mind and can think for themselves. We are not robots programmed to support only one group over another.

grey area can lead to some murky places......fake news by Steele Dossier turned into $30 million dollar investigation called crossfire hurricane

Facebook busts Israel-based campaign to disrupt elections

Facebook says it has identified a private Israel-based influence campaign aimed at disrupting elections in various countries and has canceled dozens of accounts that engaged in spreading disinformation.

Nathaniel Gleicher, Facebook's head of cybersecurity policy, told reporters Thursday the tech giant had purged 65 accounts, 161 pages and dozens of groups.

He says they primarily posed as political candidates and peddled fake news about elections, mostly in Sub-Saharan African countries, and with some scattered activity in Southeast Asia. The pages racked up 2.8 million followers and hundreds of thousands of views.

COMMENT:-

Obviously "Fake News" because the Israelis are staunch defenders of freedom and democracy and no one in Israel would even dream of doing something like this.

Right?

What's the difference between this, and all the comments by european nationals against trump on social media?

It seems like if you're a conservative trying to share/promote your opinion, you're trying to "influence" or "disrupt" elections.

If you're a liberal journalist, then you're just "sharing an opinion".

Question, didn't the US just trying to influence an Israeli election? Where were the liberals then?

Again, who said that? Are you just making things up?

lol...yes, it is a joke. I just wanted to get it out of the way before the usual suspects said it in seriousness. Conversation got derailed anyway...lol... It was an experiment, and it proved what I expected to be proved.

Got to admire the way you've managed to trigger literally every single one of the antisemites around here when your intention was to attack those who oppose antisemitism.

You, unfortunately, didn't get the joke. ;) Now stop being so unflattering towards me. Why do you hate white guys so much?

Obama admin. sent taxpayer money to campaign to oust Netanyahu - Washington Times

US presidents have always meddled in Israel's elections, but Trump is the first one that was doing so without any consideration for the prospects of peace in the Middle East.

Earlier this year, giant billboards, showing Trump and Benjamin Netanyahu smiling and shaking hands, sprang up on Israeli highways. The photo had the tagline, "Netanyahu, in a different league", was signed at the bottom by "The Likud". The Likud is the Likud-National Liberal Movement, which is a centre-right to right-wing political party in Israel. On February 5, Trump shared a photograph of one of these billboards on his official Instagram account. The US embassy in Jerusalem insisted that the Trump administration did not favor Netanyahu in the upcoming elections.

Do you see how 'bull****terish' this was? OF COURSE Liberals spoke up!! But you obviously didn't pay any attention to their voices. One needs to be extremely naive to believe that these moves had nothing whatsoever to do with Israeli and US domestic politics and the powers that connect them (ie, the Jewish and Evangelical lobbies).

There are no anti-Semites here. Stop.

I have to say, Israel has got to top the list of guaranteed conversational cluster ****s.

Clarence Thomas would probably disagree

You've just witnessed a small amount of them. There are hordes.

None of the people "triggered" by my post are anti-Semitic. They just have the same BS meter that I have. You have done more for true anti-Semitics than any one of them could do on their own...I'm assuming you've heard the tale of the boy who cried wolf?

Yeah, I also heard the tale of the antisemite who denied antisemitism exists.

Yeah, I also heard the tale of the antisemite who denied antisemitism exists.

Doesn't refute. I heard about anti-Semites that deny the holocaust. Anti-Semitism exists...but you have weaponized it to silence opposition on an anonymous debate forum. Shame on you.

The same presidents willing to sell you out for oil and health insurance companies, and now you're telling me they meddled in "consideration of peace in the ME", as if that were an excuse? Not even jehovahs witnesses have that much blind faith.

Yea, and? I'm just saying, you liberals were no where to be seen when it was Obama doing it. But then, the minute Trump gets involved, now it's something you have to protest. Nope, you don't get away with that. If it was okay when Obama did it, it's DEFINITELY okay for trump to do it, because unlike liberals, generally the right has little qualms with protecting US interests abroad.

what the **** you talking about? I never saw any liberals protesting obama for meddling against Netanyahu. I guess you only like to protest when it's not your guy doing it, eh?

I believe all forms of racism need to be called out and confronted, that doesn't mean I silence any opposition, it means I'm calling your friends out when they start letting the antisemite in them come out. I don't see how I'm silencing anyone in general.

Thoreau72 who you claim isn't an antisemite made this post (just used the search engine by placing "Jew" as the searched term) not long ago:
Deadliest attack on Jews in US history

This is a claim that all those Jewish members in the congress are dual citizens with an Israeli citizenship, people including Bernie and Schumer and others, so to question their loyalty to the US. (Something along the lines of Ilhan Omar the dirty antisemite)

The only reason he claims they're dual citizens of Israel is because they're Jewish. This is antisemitism. He is an antisemite, as well as a 9/11 truther and a CT lover in general. It's well known to those of us who are here for long. Yet you deny his antisemitism. You entered this thread and the first thing you did, because you've seen "Israel" in the title, is attack those who oppose antisemitism. Now you can either face reality or maintain your "antisemitism does not exist" mantra, but what it says on you is obvious.

My "anti-Semitism does not exist" mantra? lol... You must be thinking of someone else. My complaint is your shameful abuse of the term, to describe anything you don't like. Coming from you, that term carries no more weight than "yuck" coming from my 6 year old son.

At some point, when you see people who otherwise speak out against anti-Semitism calling you a fraud, you need to self examine. Type less, think more, that kind of thing.

Here's something that will blow your mind, but it's time you hear the truth: Criticizing and scrutinizing Israeli policy and government is not anti-Semitism, even if it's coming from an anti-Semite. ****ing deal with it.

This thread has nothing to do with the Israeli government, and no one suggested that every criticism of any Israeli policy is antisemitism, it's something you antisemites escape to to try and defend your Jew hatred.

The person you claimed isn't an antisemite with your "there's no antisemitism in this fine establishment" nonsense was shown to be an antisemite. I guess you believe that calling congressmembers who are Jewish "dual citizens of Israel" because they are Jewish, even though they have no Israeli citizenship, isn't antisemitism. It is. I don't know who you think you're fooling here.

Please put your money where your mouth is. Show us even ONE giant billboard that went up in Israel prior to any election showing Barack Obama shaking hands with Benjamin Netanyahu. That NEVER happened and Barack Obama NEVER aided Netanyahu to win an election. Do you know why? Because Barack Obama was smart and because he knew that Benjamin Netanyahu was being helped financially by his benefactor Sheldon Adelson and others of his ilk. Adelson had engineered and financed some of the most virulent anti-Obama propaganda during the 2008 election campaign. He detested Obama, and Obama knew it. Obama also knew that Adelson had launched an entire daily Israeli newspaper devoted to elevating Netanyahu and destroying his rivals.

So no. OBAMA NEVER DID IT!

Benjamin Netanyahu is as crooked as they come. He and Trump as soulmates in that respect. He's possibly the first candidate for re-election as Prime Minister in Israel's history that faced charges of bribery and other crimes yet was still re-elected thanks to the corruption in the Israeli government.

lol...and yet, here you are, accusing everyone of anti-Semitism, proving that my first post, as facetious as it was, was SPOT ON. Had you not shown up, as I completely predicted you would, I would have looked like a cryptic asshole, and life would have went on. But no, you do you so consistently that I was never worried. You prove me right so often I feel like I should be paying you.

Let me ask you this...you have said ad nauseum in this thread that it was a private company. I agree. A private company working on influencing foreign elections, operating in Israel, a country that has benefitted enormously from the results of previous election interference - I'm not sure there has ever been a better US president for Israel than Trump. So...is it anti-Semitic to discuss the obvious possibility that the Israeli government was involved? Wouldn't it be weird for the same people who called for an investigation of Russia to not call for an investigation of Israel? Given the Israeli government's history of tap dancing along the border of shady sometimes, while steaming over it in tanks at others, this is hardly CT forum material.

Please...tell me how any of what I'm saying is anti-Semitism. :) And don't bother with the first and second lines of defensive tactics that are popping into your brain right now, I already know what you're going to say, and have the responses already written up. Shock me, and respond with something actually worth the time I'm spending on you. How about starting with why you think a private Israeli company would try to influence foreign elections, if NOT at the request of the Israeli government.
