Facebook busts Israel-based campaign to disrupt elections

Not sure where you anti-Israel bias stems from. No reason to hazard a guess here.

My "bias" is against any outside interference in another country's "democratic processes".

Of course, that is a tiny bit more abstract than "You linked to a factual account of wrong doing that occurred in Israel therefore you are a Nazi who wants to kill all the Jews." - but I can't help that.

That being said this was a private firm.

Who was paying them?

Pretty sure wherever you come from also has a criminal element.

Yes we do ("2011 Canadian federal election voter suppression scandal"). Mind you, that was purely domestic and not any interference in the internal democratic processes of another country so it's not QUITE the same thing - which is not to say that it was a "Good Thing" or that anyone actually approved of it.

In fact, if you want to take a look at "Redistribution of Federal Electoral Districts ", "Code of Professional Conduct for Election Administrators " and "ID to Vote" you might find one or two features that you actually approve of sufficiently to (with minor modification) consider adopting where you live.

Where do you get the poster is being anti-semitic? Outing a country doing this kind of thing should happen more. No country should be involved in another's elections and that especially goes for america. Freedom and democracy doesn't only come through warfare and this is twenty first century warfare and should be fought on all fronts. You brought the religious aspect into the discussion not the OP.

Hi, Bongs.

Hopefully you read a little further in the thread, after getting all this off your chest, and found:

Oy vey...for someone who drops sarcasm like a prom date on Saturday morning, you sure don't recognized it when it's kicking you in the taint, do you??

Nevermind...sheesh! I agree with you. Dang!

So, of course I'll say you're absolutely right. :) Nice soapbox, though, I hope that was therapeutic. ;)

OlNate was being facetious, and free speech - it's speaking/writing and hearing/reading - is a precious right to be protected.

These attacks upon it are the true danger.

However...I was careful to respect TOS. ;)

It's a private company, just like the ones in the US who do the same thing or anywhere else in the world.

It's always fascinating to observe the mentality of those who see such threads and take advantage to lash out and expose their demonic hatred for an entire group of people.

Facebook busts Israel-based campaign to disrupt elections

Facebook says it has identified a private Israel-based influence campaign aimed at disrupting elections in various countries and has canceled dozens of accounts that engaged in spreading disinformation.

Nathaniel Gleicher, Facebook's head of cybersecurity policy, told reporters Thursday the tech giant had purged 65 accounts, 161 pages and dozens of groups.

He says they primarily posed as political candidates and peddled fake news about elections, mostly in Sub-Saharan African countries, and with some scattered activity in Southeast Asia. The pages racked up 2.8 million followers and hundreds of thousands of views.

COMMENT:-

Obviously "Fake News" because the Israelis are staunch defenders of freedom and democracy and no one in Israel would even dream of doing something like this.

Right?

You might be more convincing by cleaning up your own house before condemning others.

I will also say our own MSM are major drivers down the disinformation highway, the previous 3 years, are a prime example.

Right?

Of course not. This is part of the statecraft that almost every country EVEN THE UNITED STATES regularly participates in. Hell I seem to remember the Obama admin actually trying to use the state dept to work to undermine Israel's prime ministers election, an ally to the US. I don't remember your outrage then, but I was not around here so perhaps I am mistaken. We all do it, hell we actually go so far as to attempt to use the military and economic means as well to remove a leader of another country that we don't like. Talk about meddling. That is far more egregious than some facebook ads for Christ's sake. I am sure Israel is guilty of doing this as is many other countries, so what? I have np with it. If Iran wants to buy some anti-Trump facebook ads go for it, what is the problem here? If you really want to be concerned about "foreign meddling" then perhaps a good look at the countries who actually sent millions of dollars through the fake charity within the Clinton foundation might be in order. That is until she lost and then suddenly those "donations" from other countries just dried up. Shame we can't just be intellectually honest, even here.

Ha!

Hilarious. :)

But Facebook has - yet again - done the wrong thing.

It's a private company, and they can do what they please with their platform. I really do not understand why people insist FB is being bad here.

If anything the best thing for the planet is if FB were to cease all operations and simply eradicate its own platform.

I have np with FB selling ads within reason. Because of the access to the world I do think it shady when they operate in a manner that discriminates due to political indifference's. Unfortunately political opinion isn't a protected class from discrimination so I doubt there is little that can be done.

Nothing ought to be done, except -everyone- should simply stop using the platform. FB sucks, it's trash, it takes ownership of your photos and it tracks you and everything else.

It's a terrible company owned by a terrible person and it should be shut down.

Not surprising...."Meddling" is a time tested tradition among the worlds players....

Hey, I tried to tell them to stop being so anti-Semitic. Apparently they don't accept garbage accusations from me either. Sad world.

Yeah you only did that to throw a jab at those fighting antisemites since any opposition to antisemitism seriously pisses you off. This thread is not about all Jews it's about a private company from Israel, there was no reason for your comment, private people from anywhere can do literally anything. Life's too short says your signature. Stop wasting it on hating 0.2% of the world's population, it will make you miserable.

Right?

But they failed to bust the Russians in time, who apparently used Facebook in the propaganda campaign.

:lamo Not sure what's funnier...that you believe what you're saying, or that you believe I will.

Of course the thread is not about all Jews. I can't believe that admission is coming from you, though. Neither is criticizing the Israeli government, who has been a stain on this planet for some time now. Sadly allegations of hate towards the Jews and anti-Semitism have been thrown around so much that they have as much impact the word beige.

At least, that's what I think I discovered, when I tried super hard to get the folks annoyed with another example of electoral interference to stop being anti-Semitic by complaining about it. I mean, I know, I know, surely there are far more political reasons to impact a, well, election, than economic ones, so it really looks like the Israeli government contracted out some shady business to a convenient private contractor, but that would never never never never happen - I mean, what are the Israelis, if not shining examples being diplomatically straightforward. Perfect compliance with the UN, a spotless record in their own country. The only POSSIBLE reason that ANYONE would EVER accuse Israel of ANYTHING has GOT to be a raging case of anti-Semitism. Why do they hate so much, Apocalypse....why DO they hate so MUCH?

Right Apocalypse?

:lamo

Thank goodness for the Russians...thanks to lessons learned there, FB can now catch the Israelis in the act. ;)

This could be simpler...everyone posting content other than pictures of their kids, their cat, or what they had for supper last night get immediately charged with treason. Easy peasy!

Again, you were taking a jab at people who oppose antisemitism since the opposition to antisemitism really pisses you off.

This thread is about accusations against private people. There are private groups (an endless amount) who do the same in the US and elsewhere. Saying all "X" are this and that because you see someone who is an X does this and that, is backwards.

I'm not interested in diving into discussion about the reason for your agenda and the massive brainwashing you've been exposed to and how much you've let it get to you. What you're doing, this backwards mentality of generalizations based on origin, of trying to use every excuse you get to promote hatred against a very specific and small group of people on this planet, will make you quite miserable if it hasn't already.

Define anti-Semitism. It seems based on our previous interactions that you have a shapiroesque view of anti-Semitism.

Question 1: why do you want me to hate the Jews so badly? I mean, you tell me I do so often that you must, I can come to no other conclusion...

As for the rest of your Sputnik grade analysis, well...hehe... Sorry, friend, the Israeli government has taught the world to distrust the Israeli government. Which is an ENTIRELY different thing than saying the Jews have taught the world to distrust Jews. I know you'll likely never understand the difference, as invested into the whole victim / martyr brand as you are, but I'm not sure I could possibly care less.

Anti-Semitism is easy to define. It's when you say anything unflattering about Israel, irrespective of whether it's true or not. Also, empathizing with Muslims and saying the word Palestine are also anti-Semitic.

(I've had this talk about a hundred times with our friend here, let me save you some time).

Taking advantage of a thread about private people to attack their origin is backwards.
Entering the thread and first thing attacking the opposition to antisemitism is even more so.
You and the others promoting all this hatred in this thread should do more to understand the concept of private people as opposed to a collective.

You see, the only people who say what you're saying here are the antisemites. No one thinks it's antisemitism to oppose anything about Israel. Certainly not to say anything positvie about Muslims, which I don't see the connection at all. The anger you have towards any opposition to antisemitism is the greatest giveaway of your hatred more than anything else.

Man, all those heavy accusations, and yet, somehow, I will survive. I want to be helpful...if you want to be as devastating as you seem to think you are, you should base your accusations in reality. It works a lot better.

You didn't answer my question, by the way...very rude.

Right...the only way anyone could possibly find fault with your ridiculous allegations and generalizations is if they are anti-Semitic.

You've got it pretty nicely tied up there, man, the perfect little bubble. Good for you. :)
