Iran may attack Israel if U.S. standoff escalates: Israeli minister

I agree. We should start at the Suez Canal, and conquer everything from there to the Chinese, Russian and Indian borders, with the exception of Israel.

You've been playing too many video games if you think that's even possible. This isn't the 4th century when there was constant warring of different tribes. The US can't simply "conquer everything". That's immature thinking.

I was being hyperbolic. That means, I was using an exaggeration to make a point. It wasn't meant to be taken literally.

So let's see, we now have Iraq, Palestine, Syria, Venezuela, North Korea, Iran.....and counting.

Liberals have an odd taste in allies.

The real question is why is the White House sabre rattling? Bolton has wanted to attack Iran for decades. Now, he has the opportunity but no motive, since Iran is no imminent threat. Pompeo visited our European allies and they rejected the U.S. view. Trump doesn't read intel reports and gets info from opinion pieces. He's shockingly uninformed but clearly is going to act without Congress. This is a foreign policy disaster unfolding before our eyes.

The Mad King wants his war, I guess.

I think the more accurate view of the situation is Trump: the blithering idiot is being worked over by Bolton and Pompeo. Trump thinks he's in control, but he isn't. He thinks he will give the order to go to war or not, based upon how fresh the McDonalds fries tasted that afternoon. But, Trump can't see that Bolton and Pompeo are slow-walking him into a war with no exit.

Yes, he's completely malleable. He doesn't read intelligence reports, so he is subject to the views he hears from advisors and Fox pundits.

Yep, and America writ large is being perceived as an egotistical fool. We aren't getting any go ahead for our war from the international community, because our war is based on unfounded claims and lies, and we're going ahead with it anyway. Truly sad and despicable that anyone would vote for this.

Gee, you mean like how Trump fawns over thugs like Putin and Victor Orban?

OK, so what, exactly, was your "point"?

Was it that the United States of America should invade and conquer any country that doesn't do exactly what the President of the United States of America tells it to do?

Or was it simply that the United States of America should THREATEN to invade and conquer any country that doesn't do exactly what the President of the United States of America tells it to do?

Or was it that the United States of America should invade and conquer any country that doesn't do exactly what the President of the United States of America tells it to do PROVIDED that that country has oil?

The point was that I don't have any more regard for Saudi Arabia than I do Iran.

A war would be more beneficial to the Leftists than it would be for Trump.

Ooooooooooh wouldn't they just love to!

Listen folks, we're not taking about 'a war, a war, a war' here. What this leads to is Israel and Saudi Arabia's intense desire to simply erase all traces of Iran entirely. I mean just wipe them off the map of the earth entirely. Do you understand that that means, really? A war in the Middle East is beneficial TO NO ONE in the end.

So Iran the terror spreading theocratic regime of darkness are just peace loving angels and it's the bad democratic Jewish country trying to get them wiped off the map for... whatever reasoning, in forcing them to start a war by doing... something. Right?
Where does that place the lizard people please tell us, seeing how the world is flat and the moon landing was a lie.

Always interesting to observe the anti-Western propaganda around here that would side with any evil and backwards regime or faction that is willing to wage war against the civilized world.

You got that totally backwards. It's nobody but Muslim-hating John Bolton that's stirring the pot with the help of Bibi Netanyahu and the Saudis.

I'm still waiting for your input on the lizard people and what their role in the situation is.

Iran has been waging a war of terror through proxy for decades now. It's not some innocent victim, it's an aggressor in Syria, Lebanon, Iraq, Yemen, Gaza and elsewhere and the no.1 sponsor of terrorism on our planet. No one is pushing it towards attacking US targets, no one is forcing it to start a war, yet US intel suggested they were planning such an attack and this started the current escalation which would probably end with nothing. The only interest the US, Israel and SA have is that Iran will stop its aggressions and stop trying to gain nuclear weapons.

'Lizard people'? what does this have to do with Steve Mnuchin? Just a joke. Britain’s Ministry of Defense issued a statement backing comments made by a senior British military official disputing U.S. claims of an increased Iranian threat in the Middle East.Our allies in France, Germany, and Britain have been at bitter odds over Iran since Trump made the consequential decision last year to withdraw the U.S. from the Iran nuclear agreement and reimpose crippling sanctions on Tehran—a move the deal’s European signatories not only condemned, but have actively worked to circumvent. The US is an island on this front against Iran except for Israel and Saudi Arabia of course. I wonder why?

Respect is a two way street. Wouldn't you agree?

Since the US, in the persona of Mr. Trump, gives zero indication of respecting any other country, why should any other country respect the US?

One gains respect by acting in a manner that is worthy of respect. Some of the things that are worthy of respect are:

  1. dealing honestly with others;
  2. not demeaning others;
  3. not attempting to bully and/or oppress others;
  4. keeping the word that you gave to others - even if it is inconvenient;
  5. not lying about others;
  6. admitting that others have legitimate aims and aspirations - even if those conflict with your own;
  7. not insisting that others act in a servile manner towards you; and
  8. not insisting that your wants come first in all situations regardless of what that does to others;

and Mr. Trump misses the boat on all of them.

You appear to have missed the reference to Saudi Arabia.

Of the two (Israel and Saudi Arabia), it is the Saudis that are the most interested in Iran "simply vanishing" because that would do two things:

  1. remove a major impediment to the spread of Wahhabism (the "Saudi Flavour of Islam") throughout the Middle East; and
  2. enable Saudi Arabia to obtain possession of the Iranian oil fields once Iraq has been removed from the equation (or turned into a client state).

The Israelis would be content if the Iranians simply shut up and stayed home.

One can say many unkind things about the leaders of Iran, but one cannot say they are insane, which they would be if they dared attack Israel.

One does not need to be a Nostradamus to know that if Iran were to attack Israel, the former within a few minutes would be the proverbial parking lot.

if America or Israel decided to use nuclear weapons you will be denounced world wide as pariah states and face economic sanctions from almost all nations on the planet ... you think it's bad now how people see America and Israel you will be alone

And there would be a goodly number of people in the United States of America who were loudly condemning the rest of the world's anti-Semitic condemnation of the peaceful, democratic, Israelis.

PS - Make that "VERY loudly".

PPS - Make that "VERY loudly and continuously".
