Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin won’t release Trump’s tax returns to Congress, says no ‘legitimate

Re: Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin won’t release Trump’s tax returns to Congress, says no ‘

I am simply BLOWN AWAY that so many people are fine and dandy with Trump being forced to disclose his tax returns. I'm appalled that so many are fine and dandy with this whole "guilty until proved innocent" thing in relation to Trump.
No, you are fine with any length your idol will go to dodge the law.

Re: Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin won’t release Trump’s tax returns to Congress, says no ‘

[/B]That's a helluva' take, when obstructing the work of the People's house! :doh

Actually, it is what Trump does; take what you're doing wrong, and accuse it directly of the other guy.

What work, exactly, is being obstructed?

Re: Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin won’t release Trump’s tax returns to Congress, says no ‘

Yes, it does. Sorry you're having trouble with reading.

Quote the law...

Re: Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin won’t release Trump’s tax returns to Congress, says no ‘

How is disregarding the law fighting for justice for anyone? Is that the example a president should set? Change the law if it is wrong, but Trump and his ass kissing lemmings are too stupid to do the right thing even when they have the power.

President Trump is excercising his 1st Amendment right to petition the government for redress of grievences.

Re: Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin won’t release Trump’s tax returns to Congress, says no ‘

Only in Trump Fan Nation is "I'm defying the law and not releasing the tax returns of Donald J. Trump" considered to be fighting for "justice and the rights of the American people".

I hope Trump pays you for your posts.

If Trump does not pay them, the Russian likely have a means to compensate them for this madness, in broad respective ... post as such may even be made by Russian Operatives.

Re: Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin won’t release Trump’s tax returns to Congress, says no ‘

Mnuchin says he won'''t release Trump'''s tax returns, says it lacks '''legitimate legislative purpose'''

Basically, Mnuchin and Barr are saying "Let's take this to court and see what they say". That's EXACTLY what they should do too.

Frankly, it kind of feels good to see an administration fight for justice and the rights of the American people.

Absolutely! Our fourth amendment is at stake. Screw congress and their damn overreach!

Re: Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin won’t release Trump’s tax returns to Congress, says no ‘

LOL! Yes, you are rabidly hyperpartisan. You're not fooling anyone but yourself here.

LOL! Literally nothing you just cited supports your asinine claim.

And 'coup'? You should consider learning words.

I am pretty confident in my vocabulary and how I use words. And generally, the way I use words is quite intentional and for good reason. I am also quite confident that when there is no competent rebuttal for what I said but the other insults me personally, I have won the argument.

Re: Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin won’t release Trump’s tax returns to Congress, says no ‘

Honestly, the Treasury Secretary isn't wrong. I mean, he does have a point. What legislative purpose does releasing the President's tax returns do for anyone? Where is the law that says a President has to release their tax returns?

Re: Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin won’t release Trump’s tax returns to Congress, says no ‘

All liberals on this thread are hyperventilating ... again ...

Attempted coup.

Forget the fainting couch. We need to buy these people their own county to faint in at this point.

I wish the Trump Fans would turn off Hannity and do some research on the law. But that's going to happen after my Beagle learns to play gin rummy.

I am pretty confident in my vocabulary and how I use words.

If that were actually the case, you wouldn't have reference a magical, NeverNever Land attempted coup.

You haven't been insulted. You were called out on an asinine claim you made. You couldn't support it. End of story.

US Code Section 6103(f), which entitles Congress’s tax committees to obtain any tax return or other tax information, including IRS audit work files. Under Section 6103(f), the Treasury secretary “shall furnish” these documents upon written request from the committee, denying any exercise of discretion from the secretary.

Re: Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin won’t release Trump’s tax returns to Congress, says no ‘

Because: Republicans are all for the rule of law...until they aren't.

Shameful hypocrites.

Let's allow the courts to decide and then you get back to me so I can remind you to eat a little crow.

Until then....

Congress can view the tax returns of any U.S. citizen for any reason. The law is pretty clear and it has nothing to do with the fourth amendment. The data being requested is held by the IRS.

Asked and answered.

Knew you couldn't, because you're lying. :lamo

OK. They can obtain the tax returns. I stand corrected on that. However, the Secretary does have a good point when he says that it doesn't have a legislative purpose.

So you don't understand the definition of the word "shall". Not surprising. Too many letters?

Trump's impeachment...

No, the Secretary is wrong. It's a law that's been on the books since 1924. First passed because of the Teapot Dome scandal. The Congress doesn't need a legislative purpose. The law is quite clear.

Re: Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin won’t release Trump’s tax returns to Congress, says no ‘

You suggest changing the law if it's wrong. Well, the process for doing that is, first, to oppose that law in court.
No Congress can do that. Missed some civics classes?

I respectfully disagree. While the law may be there to obtain said records, I don't think it to be unreasonable to ask what the actual purpose is of doing so.

Holy ****. Trump Fan Nation doesn't know how laws are changed in this country? They think Congress has to go to court to change a law?

I'm ****ing depressed at the sheer level of ignorance.

Asking is not precluding.
