'Tentative date' of May 15 agreed for Mueller to testify before Congress | US news | The Guardian

Democratic congressman says: ‘We hope that the special counsel will appear’ while Trump tweets: ‘Bob Mueller should not testify’

Robert Mueller may be one step closer to being questioned in public on Capitol Hill, with a representative of the special counsel saying he has agreed to testify before Congress, according to a Democratic congressman on Sunday.

Rhode Island congressional Representative David Cicilline said a “tentative date has been set of May 15” for Mueller to testify, he told host Chris Wallace on Fox News Sunday.

Hope this opportunity to shed light on the so far partially sequestered Mueller Report happens despite Trump's attempt to stop it. What's he obviously afraid of?

Same deal as Barr? Staffer attorneys get 30 minutes to question him? Probably not, huh?

Isnt the tone of the media and the democrats intresting how it contrasts to Barr.

They demand barr appears and offer no flexability toward the conditions he must appear under. They threaten subpoenas.

Mueller they hope can accomidate them to when they desire but if not they offer flexability to a time thats more convenient.

The contrast is stark.

I look forward to hearing from mueller and watching the democrats and the media put their hypocrisy on full display.

To be clear i dont want mueller to testify because it going to embarass the left. I just see that being a forgone conclusion from it unless they decide to throw him under the bus too.

I do want mueller to explain some things now the investigation is complete. The public is owed an explination of what lead them to the conclusion reached in his report.

Mueller's spokesman is declining comment on whether he's agreed to "tentative" date of May 15 to appear at House Judiciary Committee.

UPDATE: House Judiciary member Rep. David Cicilline has walked back his claim that Mueller has tentatively agreed to testify before the committee on May 15, apologizing for the confusion.

I'd like to know when the no conspiracy or coordination conclusion was arrived at.

Even more grandstanding coming up. Thankfully, I would be in the country when this one happens though. I will expect a completely unbiased reaction when I check this forum later in the evening though.:lamo

Now we'll see if the Democrats decide to have staff attorneys question Muller instead of committee members asking the questions as it has always been under congressional protocol until they decided to weaponize the process in their attempt to destroy A.G. Barr.

Because Mueller isn't refusing to testify? If Barr chooses to act like a suspect with something to be hide, we shouldn't be surprised he's treated like one.

Damn right the contrast is stark. Clear as day to me who's attempting a cover up.

So they are using the same set of rules for Barr and Mueller...interesting.

I'd like to know when the no conspiracy or coordination conclusion was arrived at.

No such conclusion was arrived at by Mueller. Mueller said that they could not attain enough evidence to charge them, due in part to lying witnesses, witnesses taking the 5th, witnesses refusing to testify, and destroyed evidence.

Barr freely volunteered his time--however much time they wanted, to testify before the Senate committee. He agreed to volunteer his time--however much time they wanted--to the House committee too, and he wisely backed off when Nadler demanded that it be an impeachment proceeding instead of the fact finding session that Barr agreed to. Nadler was way out of line, violated pretty much every congressional protocol, and he and others have been indefensibly dishonest and hateful in how they have characterized the A.G.

I think Nadler and all others who have slandered the Attorney General should be censured by Congress.

Grandstanding is the correct term. The term hearing is a joke. No Congressperson wants to hear any testimony. Some at the Barr hearing never asked a single question

If I were any person summoned before Congress I'd decline.

I personally look forward to hearing from Bob Mueller although I suspect he will refuse the invitation. I also think once the Dems realize Bob Mueller can be grilled similar to the manner in which Bob Barr was, they will attempt to move toward closed door testimony, if at all.

While I am convinced some of the SC staff had political bias, I have yet to be convinced Bob Mueller does. He and Barr are reported friends as well as former Boss and appointee. I find it difficult to believe in that culture Mueller would throw his friend over-board. I suspect it is as Barr stated that staff members with political bias are still butt-hurt after failing to deliver and becoming the heroes to the left they had hoped to become. They were given authority to send the letter. The real question is can the dems discredit AG Barr as well as possibly the IG and his report before this turns into a train they cannot stop leading back to the Obama admin. I strongly suspect Brennan will be the fall guy in all of this.

Nice work, Barnacle!

No such conclusion was arrived at by Mueller. Mueller said that they could not attain enough evidence to charge them, due in part to lying witnesses, witnesses taking the 5th, witnesses refusing to testify, and destroyed evidence.

Then Mueller lied;

"[T]he
investigation did not establish that members of the Trump Campaign conspired or coordinated
with the Russian government in its election interference activities"

YES... Mueller Most Definitely Should Testify, even more so after "Barr came to do the bidding of Trump".

American People without any thought about Party, should be in support of TRUTH!!!! This is far more important than any Agenda of any Party, to get to anything except "THE TRUTH".

We all know, both Democrats and Republicans, that Trump has much that he is trying to hide. anyone who denies that is lying to themselves !!!

No white nationalist promotion of wealthy white man dominance shall proceed in America's Future... It's about "all people" !!!! The nation has been screwed by the greed of the wealthy, and even more so by "power hungry men" - The Nation is more important than the "hunger for power of any man" !!!

The Economy is not what it claims, and the Stock Market as it has become today, is a "Wealthy Man's Game"... "Trading Fiction, based solely on the Fictions of Trading Frenzy"... IT DOES NOT Support nor does it Promote the Stability of Any Company.

There is no Industrial growth of "Factory Building", and there is no "Reclaiming of Closed Factories".... This is what people should be aware of, but many simply are not. There is no plan nor acts being done to "invigorate Industry of Factory Development" in any of the regions of the country. Trade Wars have damaged the American Farmers, and "We have absolutely NOTHING, that signals any productions of the "home appliances that ALL AMERICANS utilize in their homes.
Furniture Production is not developing and what little there is, is struggling. Fashion Designs and Production of American Designers, is not growing, and we don't make "quality footwear in America for the average American.

These things should be of concern, regardless of political party insidiousness.

Mueller's Report is Crucial... to get American on a Tract, by getting this "madness addressed in our system". This "every other day, Trump Generated Distractions, has the entire nation feeling "Unstable". He has his mind bent on hat the world was like in the 1950's, and it will NEVER return to that madness.
Barr should be "jailed" for what he has done to the Justice Branch of Government, and Senators on the Republican Side should be each who support this madness charged with "contempt" and be censured.

People need to awaken and be "clear minded" about the damages that have been done. If people were smart they'd go back and realize he damages that Rumsfield did in conjunction of Dick Cheney...and their promotion of the "unitary executive theory - American has to correct this... its up to the people to be aware and learn.....

Trump has lusted for Putin, and soon as he thinks he's clear, he goes right to Putin !!!! That should "ALARM" Every American....

YES... Mueller Most Definitely Should Testify!

Barr's a hostile witness, Mueller isn't.

I mean, metaphorically speaking.

It's so disheartening to watch the democratic party continue to heap failure on failure. This election is just like the last, theirs to lose, and they are doing their best.

After all the administrations, conspiracies, conspiracy theories, drama and BS I have lived through, I have begun to wonder over the last 3 or 4 years if my children will ever see a respectable President or the many reasons America has been great in my lifetime.

They deserve better than to inherit this reality show drama crap.

Every thread seems to be about this useless crap or some sort of other partisan issue and I find myself posting less and less again. I took a break when ODS overtook this board and have tried to suffer through the TDS when I saw at least a few reasonable people in the mix. Now it just seems like all serious discussion has disappeared and it's a matter of who gets the cheapest shot or what article/poll/whatever supports the partisan stance currently being taken.

Dems had seemed the less crazy party until recently. Now it's a toss up. Like most true moderates, I'm getting sick of watching this lose-lose battle go on and on and on.

Little English lesson for you: "did not establish it happened" does not mean the same thing as "established it did not happen". I know, English is hard...
