Trump curses Mueller appointment: 'This is the end of my presidency' - Reuters

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S. President Donald Trump believed the appointment of a special counsel to take over the federal probe of Russian interference into the 2016 election would spell the end of his presidency, according to the report by Special Counsel Robert Mueller.

When then-Attorney General Jeff Sessions informed Trump of Mueller’s appointment in May 2017, the report said, Trump slumped back in his chair and said: “Oh my God. This is terrible. This is the end of my presidency. I’m f****d.”

I think Trump's quote speaks for itself. He's a thug.

Well duh! What else would you expect a completely innocent POTUS to say?

I don't know a single innocent person that would be terrified of being investigated for crimes they didn't commit. Not one.

Mueller was pissed off at Trump for:

1. Not yielding to Mueller demanding special favors in a golf club membership because he was Director of the FBI (for which Mueller should have been prosecuted)

2. Refusing to appoint Mueller back to being director of the FBI.

President Trump knew this and knew how adversarial the relationship was with Mueller. He also knew that Mueller was privately meeting with Comey and that he and Comey together conspired to get Mueller appointed. Comey has outright admitted that.

Please tell me you're joking.

And now the context of that quote, from the link, that was conveniently left out of the opening post;

“Everyone tells me if you get one of these independent counsels it ruins your presidency,” Trump said, according to the report. “It takes years and years and I won’t be able to do anything. This is the worst thing that ever happened to me.”

Calling intellectual dishonesty! You left out the context of the quote!

I think this thread speaks for itself....:lamo

Well duh! What else would you expect a completely innocent POTUS to say?

Since he has been 'completely exonerated,' I'd expect him to be rejoicing. Not hard to figure out why he's not doing that. And Barr is just his bagman.

I don't know a single innocent person that would be terrified of being investigated for crimes they didn't commit. Not one.

Then let someone accuse you of child rape.

Trust me, you would be.

I've been accused of a crime before. I never once felt terrified that my career was over. I cooperated fully with Law Enforcement and in short time I was exonerated. Hell, when I applied for my Security Clearance I was investigated fully and still wasn't afraid or terrified because; and get this... I don't go around committing crimes.

i have been giggling about this "innocent behavior" all day.

Yep context is everything. The willing idiots always conveniently want to omit the part that explains what Trump meant.

Also: You should read the entire context of what Trump was saying rather than a single cherry picked sentence.

He is the rest of the statement:

“Everyone tells me if you get one of these independent counsels it ruins your presidency,” Trump said, according to the report. “It takes years and years and I won’t be able to do anything. This is the worst thing that ever happened to me.”

My wife was a Federal Court Reporter for over 30 years and worked on hundreds of cases. She always says it doesn't matter if you are innocent it matters which prosecutor you get. Think Duke lacrosse case.

Good thing we're talking about an investigation where the prosecutor is not even relevant yet.

It appears that I am the first one to SHOW that Trumps quote was taken out of context:

D4cdiBhWkAc1RNL.jpg

It turns out Trump was correct he had to put up with a sham investigation for two years, that garnered nothing of substance on him.

========================================================================

Meanwhile Mueller broke a Special Prosecutor rule, which forced AG Barr and Dep AG Rosenstein to make the decision that no obstruction occurred:

AG Barr knows Mueller failed to follow the Special Prosecutor rules, which is WHY he along with Rosenstein decided that there was insufficient evidence of Obstruction, which Mueller was supposed to do.

Well it appears that Mueller VIOLATED the Special Prosecutor rules that required he give, " he or she shall provide the Attorney General with a confidential report explaining the prosecution or declination decisions reached by the Special Counsel", which he failed to do according to, Cornell Law School:

28 CFR § 600.8 - Notification and reports by the Special Counsel.

"§ 600.8 Notification and reports by the Special Counsel.

(c)Closing documentation. At the conclusion of the Special Counsel's work, he or she shall provide the Attorney General with a confidential report explaining the prosecution or declination decisions reached by the Special Counsel. "

Mueller punted on it, which is WHY Barr and Rosenstein made the decision based on the feeble evidence that there was no Obstruction. It is clear Mueller KNEW there was no clear evidence of Obstruction, which is why he decided to force the Attorney General to make the decision FOR HIM. Here is what he said on WHY the AG and not Mueller (who was supposed to make the determination) along with deputy ag, Rosenstein that there was no obstruction of justice. The Federalist showed here why AG did it:

"Attorney General William Barr spoke during today’s press conference of Mueller’s failure to perform this regulatorily required duty. When asked why he and Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein felt it necessary “to take it to the next step to conclude there was no crime,” Barr retorted:

The very prosecutorial function and all our powers as prosecutors, including the power to convene grand juries and compulsory process that’s involved there, is for one purpose and one purpose only. It’s to determine yes or no, was alleged conduct criminal or not criminal. That is our responsibility and that’s why we have the tools we have. And we don’t go through this process just to collect information and throw it out to the public. We collect this information. We use that compulsory process for the purpose of making that decision. And because the special counsel did not make that decision, we felt the department had to. That was a decision by me and the deputy attorney general. Yes."

It's like Mueller's running a concentration camp with Trump his only prisoner.

It is disingenuous of you to take these comments out of context. But I expect this from Progressive co-conspirators. Trump understood that a Special Counsel investigation would cripple his Presidency, as it has. From the context of the rest of his comments, I don't believe he thought he would be found guilty of anything. This has now been realized. It isn't the end of his presidency.

A Brief Summary of the Report: Russians wanted to protect us from the "corrupt Hillary Clinton" and put someone in office that they could reason with. (The reset button never worked.) The Russian spies took advantage of the inept DNC and Clinton campaign to expose their emails with the assistance of WikiLeaks and others. The Russians used social media to attempt to sway the election. (Are Americans really so stupid that we couldn't make our own decisions based on facts? I'll bet the US never tried to use social media or other means to sway opinions in another country...see Obama, Netanyahu and the Israel election.) Russians tried to gain favor with Trump associates by promising "dirt' on Clinton. Trump associates, as participants in opposition research, agreed to listen to them. Finding nothing that was not already known about Clinton's corruption, the Trump campaign ultimately ignored the Russian approaches. Following Trump's election, his transition committee understood the importance of initiating a dialog with the second most powerful nation in the world. (As the report notes, Putin commented after the election that he didn't even know who he needed to talk to in order to initiate diplomatic communications with the new Administration.) Unlike any recent administration, Trump did not have the political structure behind him that Clinton or any other Republican would have had. Not surprisingly, mistakes were made (see Flynn). Many of the individuals in the campaign or transition were looking to improve their own self worth (Papadopoulos, Manafort). This was not a conspiracy (or collusion).

Trump didn't think the investigation was fair and tweeted bad things about Mueller. Comey interfered with a presidential campaign, has proven to be a liar and is incompetent. He was fired. That is not obstruction.

You realize it is quite typical for a special counsel to NOT make any decisions on that right? Mueller was leaving it up to congress and it is their job now.
