WH and DOJ Officials Discussed Mueller Report Before Release

If you had doubts about Barr's integrity:

WASHINGTON ó Robert S. Mueller IIIís findings will be public on Thursday, but some of them will not be news to President Trump.

Justice Department officials have had numerous conversations with White House lawyers about the conclusions made by Mr. Mueller, the special counsel, in recent days, according to people with knowledge of the discussions. The talks have aided the presidentís legal team as it prepares a rebuttal to the report and strategizes for the coming public war over its findings.

A sense of paranoia is taking hold among some of Mr. Trumpís aides, some of whom fear his backlash more than the findings themselves, the people said. The report might make clear which of Mr. Trumpís current and former advisers spoke to the special counsel, how much they said and how much damage they did to the president ó providing a kind of road map for retaliation.

It was clear when he refused to answer the question on whether the white house had seen the Mueller report. Are there any honorable Republicans today?

Not sure if this has been posted but Barr's actions in a 1989 summary, report was 29 pages, his summary was 13, and yes it left out a ton of info.
Clinton from what I understand ordered its release

Barr is using the same playbook and phrases in both summaries written by him

Re: WH and DOJ Officials Discussed Mueller Report Before Release

I'm confused. What is the issue?

Of course the President would have the right to see and discuss the results before it would be published.

The Special Counsel was appointed by Asst. Attorney General Rod Rosenstein after then-Attorney General Sessions recused himself. This was approved by the President.

The DOJ is a part of the government Administration and subject to the President's authority as Chief Executive.

What law or rule is being broken when the Attorney-General reports the results to the President, and then discusses what must be redacted by law, and what will be published?

If I stop responding it doesn't mean I've conceded the point or agree with you. It only means I've made my point and I don't mind you having the last word. Please wait a few minutes before "quoting" me. I often correct errors for a minute or two after I post before the final product is ready.

Re: WH and DOJ Officials Discussed Mueller Report Before Release

Yes, I posted this on another thread.

Here's my take. William Barr, in his 4 page summary, had used only partial sentences out of the actual sentences by Mueller in the original report. In other words, he essentially cherry-picked and sanitized the results of the report which made them favorable for Trump of course.

Now the report will be released and even with redactions, there's going to be a lot of embarrassing things in there for Trump but not necessarily unlawful.

The strategy is going to be to attack the Mueller investigation itself, from the ground up, and de-legitimize it as much as possible, nearly to the point that people will be wanting Mueller locked up. LOL! (almost serious)

Trump's lawyers, and Barr himself are going to accuse the FBI of unlawful spying and that's a bunch of crap. Those FISA warrants on Page and Papadoupolis were valid warrants. Then they'll move on to Strzok and Page and John Brennan. By the time they're finished, just to save Trump's ass, they're willing to destroy those institutions so vital to our country's security that there really won't be any trust in any government federal agency any longer.

This is very sad what's happened to this country. I think the game is over and democracy lost.

Ethics and integrity. Barr's actions have underlined the rot of American democracy. His actions will do nothing to restore faith in our system of government at a time when most Americans and the world wonder how much deeper in the mud the nation can wallow in the muck.

Of course, when it was first discussed that Barr had briefed the White House, republicans denied it. And why? No reason; just to kill time.
