Chinese woman arrested at Mar-a-Lago indicted on two counts

Zhang was charged with unlawful entry of restricted buildings and grounds and false statements to law enforcement.

Yujing Zhang, the Chinese citizen arrested at Mar-a-Lago in March while President Donald Trump was at his nearby golf club, was indicted Friday.

The short, two-page indictment gave no new information about how Zhang allegedly got into Trump's resort in Florida two weeks ago. She was charged with two counts — unlawful entry of restricted buildings and grounds and false statements to law enforcement.

She was carrying a Radio Shack-worth of electronics & malware & all she gets are these charges? Sounds like she'll get 30 days probation. Someone seems to have dropped the ball on this one.

It's hard to tell just from brief news reports but she seems like an absolutely terrible spy. If this was a state operation you would expect her to have every lie and move perfectly calculated. The "carrying computer malware unlike anything a government analyst had ever seen" part is even more bizarre. I wonder what that means exactly.

That was my thought. She seems awfully prepared for a nutty person... yet would be the world's most incompetent Chinese spy. Also to the strangeness... why have two passports? Perhaps she's working for a corporation?

Interesting. Thank you for sharing.

Dual citizenship usually means dual passports. She could have been born outside of China, such as in Malaysia. Hence dual passports.

Did you see something about dual citizenship?

The article says two Chinese passports.

Missed that. Makes her situation even more murky.

She apparently had malicious intent, given the malware alone. Our intelligence people are not interrogating her in some black site? This is the stuff of conspiracy theories.

That definitely caught my attention. I have some possibilities but we can't know for certain without more information.

Most nations have and recognize three types of passports: regular, official, and diplomatic. When I worked in embassies I always had two passports: a tourist passport and a diplomatic passport. Pretty much all other government officials who travel regularly, other than the military, carry a regular passport and an official passport. So it is POSSIBLE this person was a government official traveling with her personal passport and her official passport. I realize technically spies ARE government officials, but unless their cover is as a different kind of government official, they would only ever be caught with one, regular, passport. Which makes this even more odd because they didn't FIND two passports on her, she voluntarily offered up both of them at the checkpoint. Which means she didn't care to hide the fact she had two passports. But at the same time, if one of those passports was official or diplomatic I feel pretty certain the media would have reported that...unless authorities are keeping that under wraps.

There is one other, less cool, possible explanation I can think of: She had just recently gotten a new passport but her US visa had already been issued and affixed to her older passport. In that case she would show the new passport to show she had a valid passport and she would show the older one to show she was in the country legally.

I also don't think this woman was an agent with Chinese Intelligence services. They wouldn't utilize people that incompetent for that kind of work. But it could potentially be a freelancer hoping to find some info she could sell. We are missing too much information to really know.
