Pelosi appears to mock Ocasio-Cortez over reliance on Twitter for support | Fox News

“While there are people who have a large number of Twitter followers, what's important is that we have large numbers of votes on the floor of the House,” Pelosi said.

“As I say to my own district, ‘You go out and elect 218 people, just like San Francisco, then we can talk,'” she said.

“It will be one of several or maybe many suggestions that we receive,” Pelosi said. “The green dream, or whatever they call it, nobody knows what it is, but they're for it, right?”

Ironic considering that Pelosi once passed a healthcare bill to find out what was in it.

But still, I love a good fight on the House floor among power-hungry liberals.

Pelosi absolutely despises the newer generation of Democrats that are advocating for actual policies instead of running on the usual platform of "At least we're not as bad as Republicans."

Pelosi, Schumer, Wasserman-Schultz, etc need to either wake up and get with the times, or they need to leave and make room for progressive lawmakers to take charge.

But if you run on the policies of Ocasio-Cortez, you will be smaller than the Green Party. LOL

Most of the country is not made up of socialist nutjobs.

There is something super funny about the two choices. Either way it's a joke.

It really is time for boomers to hand the country off to younger generations. They have shown time and again they are disconnected from the realities of today. It is said that most people's political beliefs are shaped from when they are a teenager to early 20's. That's why you see all this 70's and 80's rhetoric in congress. These people don't even realize how outdated their views are.

No on both counts. What the radical progressives advocate for are hollow resolutions not policy.

It seems AOC would be better suited to be on The Micky Mouse Club or on Nickelodeon.

I agree, but you at least need the people taking over to be reasonable adults.

She's too old for that.
I say she would make a great head for lipstick ads.

Pelosi's power comes from her ability to twist arms to force people to vote how she dictates and from her ability to extort big money from big business. She is an expert at both. I don't think she gives a damn that the policies are harmful for most of America but she wants to keep that power.

If Ocasio-Cortez is successful in turning a lot of Democrats into her social green new deal mentality however looney tunes that is, Pelosi will no longer have the power to dictate policy that brings in all that lovely corporate money. And I'm pretty sure AOC won't be able to replace it.

Hallow resolutions are what the Democrats ran for almost 16 years now and it absolutely shows. The Obama administration had every branch of government in power and accomplished nothing. Easily the most forgettable administration in history If we had more firebreathers in the House and the Senate calling for actual reforms perhaps the Democrats would have retained power in '16 instead of losing it to a fascist and his rich friends.

Trump's campaign promises included free healthcare, education reform, and infrastructure repair. All major platforms that AOC, Ohmar, and Sanders advocate for and Trump ended up winning an election.

I agree that first political views are shaped when a teenage but, then life happens you get a job, get married and raise children - that's when your political views mature.

No actual reforms have been proposed. Only very high level pie-in-the-sky ideas and good luck finding the votes for the ballooning tax rates required to support those things.

Prediction:

AOC will respond by saying that Pelosi's comments reflect how the establishment believes what they think is more important than what ordinary americans think

Or something along those lines.

No actual reforms were proposed, the DNC stalwarts are too limpwristed to do anything other than marginal, incremental changes that can be reversed when power is exchanged to the Republicans (which is has.) The only thing that has stayed is the ACA. Whoopty do, a healthcare bill that is still wildly unpopular because it didn't go far enough

Republicans know politics isn't about compromise. They didn't give two ****s about what the Democrats feel before raping and iging the economy to benefit millionaires and billionaires, they just do it. The Democrats would be wildly more popular if they played this game by the same rulebook as the Republican party.

Not that you would be able to tell that is indeed the case in here.

we had such a candidate in '16
but the democratic party/debbie wasserman schultz put their thumbs on the scale to deny him the nomination
when his supporters saw what was going on with Bernie, they sat home instead of voting

as to the global warming issue, AOC has jump started the discussion about how to respond to it instead of the previous dialogue only being about whether it was real

No, she didn't. She passed it so you could find out what was in it, which I'm guessing you never did.

Pelosi extended coverage to 20+ million Americans. That's an actual policy, not a tweet. Which I think is her original point.
