[h=1]Police stationed outside Ecuador embassy in London amid WikiLeaks tweets on Julian Assange[/h]Police stationed outside Ecuador embassy in London amid WikiLeaks tweets on Julian Assange - CBS News

British police stationed armed officers outside the Ecuadorian Embassy in London on Friday after tweets from WikiLeaks quoted what it said were high-level sources saying Julian Assange could be kicked out of the building within "hours to days." The red-brick embassy building with white window frames and balconies was quiet, though a few protesters gathered outside.

No embassy official commented on the WikiLeaks founder's status. British Foreign Secretary Jeremy Hunt said Assange is a "free man" and can leave the embassy whenever he chooses.

Asked about the presence of armed officers outside the Ecuadorian Embassy, London's Metropolitan Police force said there had been no change in police procedure. Police said in a statement there is an active warrant for Assange's arrest and that the police are "obliged to execute that warrant should he leave the Embassy."

I've been hearing this for months, rumors that the Ecuadorian Embassy is about to kick out Julian Assange. This will be interesting to see what happens because there's an arrest warrant on Assange and as soon as he steps outside of that embassy he will be arrested and sent to Sweden. He's also been subpoenaed by the Mueller investigation for his Wikileaks involvement in the hacking of HRC's email. This would put a big twist into the Mueller investigation and also affect Roger Stone's statements.

...... more

Assange took refuge in Ecuador's London embassy in 2012 to avoid being extradited to Sweden, where authorities wanted to question him as part of a sexual assault investigation.

That probe was later dropped, but Assange fears he could be extradited to face charges in the United States, where federal prosecutors are investigating WikiLeaks.

How did Assange come to be in possession of [Russian] hacked DNC materials?

He acted as a GRU/Fancy Bear/Guccifer 2.0 cutout during Moscow's 2016 US election meddling campaign.

That guy has been the worst, most unappreciative “house guest”. I can’t believe the embassy has put up with him for this long.

Ecuador is a really nice country, very hospitable. I was only there a bit. Commercial fireworks set off (by government authorization) in a crowd around a town square was pretty wild. Stuff landed and people had to scatter, but the party went on.

Ecuadorian President Lenin Moreno wants to be rid of Julian Assange. As soon as Assange steps out of that embassy, London police will put him under arrest and ultimately I believe he will be facing extradition to the U.S. and will be subjected to Mueller's questioning regarding Roger Stone and other Wikileaks contacts.

Here's a snip from this Aljazeera article:
WikiLeaks' Assange 'repeatedly violated' asylum terms: Moreno | News | Al Jazeera

"Moreno told the Ecuadorean Radio Broadcasters' Association that Assange does not have the right to "hack private accounts or phones" and cannot intervene in the politics of other countries, especially those with friendly relations with Ecuador.

Without providing evidence, Moreno blamed Assange for recent allegations of corruption in local media and the publication of family photos to social media. because he blames Assange for recent allegations of corruption in local media and the publication of Moreno's family photos to social media. Julian Assange claims that the Ecuadorian President wants to end his asylum and is putting pressure on him by isolating him from visitors and spying on him."

Assange is an international hero, and the most important journalist in the world.

His arrest and extradition would be a serious and unconscionable crime.

I hope he gets kicked out of that embassy real soon. Assange is an annoying fink who thinks too highly of himself.

The infantile & irrelevant smears against Assange are reminiscent of the insanity of the Russiagate conspiracy.

Yes he is. But Assange is also the victim of two ultra feminist Swedish accusers. And a super ultra Swedish feminist prosecutor who is a close friend of the accusers. Swedish justice at its politically motivated worst.

*Wikileaks involvement in the hacking of HRC's email.*

Oh FFS, it was the DNC that was hacked not Hillary's email server. Of course if you that HRC's email server waa hacked I suggest you notify the FBI immediately.

Only to be eclipsed by the 25 year Hilldog hatefest from the Right.

That's a topic for another thread, but you are making an assumption that he got them from Russia. Hillary's server had hacking attempts by multiple sources, and for a period of time even had the logging turned off. She also apparently had email forwarding to multiple devices, and to other people, which were also not secured. Personal tech support people set the machine up and had access. She even compiled copies on other devices to send to her attorney. Remember that copies were even found on the personal laptop of Anthony Wiener which was seized by police. These emails were all over the place. They could have come from many sources.

Well, she is a monster, but she was never in danger of being extradited, imprisoned and tortured by the power state she serves so slavishly and is thus immune to.

But I do acknowledge that she's been subjected to some momentarily uncomfortable moments, yes.

And that the Benghazi >investigation< was a farce and witch hunt.

But Assange is an actual (imperfect) hero, and is facing real consequences which he can't wave off by saying "what difference does it make now?"

See the torture of Chelsea Manning to grasp what Assange faces at best for simply speaking truth as a journalist.

Anyone seeking his further punishment is a fascist or a fool.

Or both.

Correct.

The police have been present from day one. That's nothing new.

Good point. The DNC incident slipped my mind, and was very different than the issues with Hillary's server. The DNC server 'hack' wasn't even particularly high tech, but rather, someone taking advantage of an idiot. Someone literally asked the stooge for his user name and password, and he told them. It could have been managed by virtually anyone.

LOL Assange a hero? How exactly? He openly conspired with the GOP to leak stuff about Hillary during the elections- that's even more blatant than a possible Russian collusion with Trump. The man is a cowardly egomaniac.
