Black woman violently beaten by gun-wielding white man faces felony charge

Its a good thing to tell kids to be wary when we have cops that are incredibly poorly trained when it comes to interacting with people like them.

So you advocate teaching black kids to be wary of white cops because there are a lot of white cops in America who do not have the proper training to treat blacks with proper respect?

A lot of cops period.

A lot of cops period.

Little brown boy: You had better be careful because there are a lot of bad cops out there who hate brown people and will hurt them if they are not prepared to fight them for trying.

Well.. first.. black people are not just "all  people in veritable war zones". Black people are of all classes. Maybe you don't realize it.

Do me a favor: Don't add words to a statement I made and place quotation marks around it to make it appear I said something I didn't. I realize there are black people of all classes. Our last president came to Chicago as a community organizer and left office a very wealthy man, complete with a mansion in a tony section of the District of Columbia and the requisite Ivy League daughter. At the beginning of the Obama Administration, there were about 86,000 coal mining jobs in this country. By the end of it there were about 50,000. I'm guessing the white coal miners in Ohio, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia who lost their jobs thanks in part to his anti-carbon regulations aren't feeling particularly privileged at this point. One could say they got the shaft.

Just be aware that there are plethora of studies that show that black people. are pulled over and stopped more than white people doing the same behavior.. AND even when the results of those searches are LESS productive than searching white people.

Like I said, I'm sure there is unfair stereotyping going on and undoubtedly some, frankly, bigoted cops. But the BLM people need to get their **** together and do a better job of vetting their victims and not jump to conclusions before all of the facts are in.

There is question on how that "initial assault.. on the officer occurred."... In fact.... the report by the police officer seems very conflicted.. that at the same time brown was supposedly striking him.. he was also trying to grab the officers weapon. There is a lot of question there.

I'm not debating this again just so you can dig yourself into a deeper hole. :doh I'm just going to refer you--again--to the Obama DoJ Report on the incident:

The only possible basis for prosecuting Wilson under section 242 would therefore be if the government could prove that his account is not true – i.e., that Brown never assaulted Wilson at the SUV, never attempted to gain control of Wilson’s gun, and thereafter clearly surrendered in a way that no reasonable officer could have failed to perceive. Given that Wilson’s account is corroborated by physical evidence and that his perception of a threat posed by Brown is corroborated by other eyewitnesses, to include aspects of the testimony of Witness 101, there is no credible evidence that Wilson willfully shot Brown as he was attempting to surrender or was otherwise not posing a threat. Even if Wilson was mistaken in his interpretation of Brown’s conduct, the fact that others interpreted that conduct the same way as Wilson precludes a determination that he acted with a bad purpose to disobey the law. The same is true even if Wilson could be said to have acted with poor judgment in the manner in which he first interacted with Brown, or in pursuing Brown after the incident at the SUV. These are matters of policy and procedure that do not rise to the level of a Constitutional violation and thus cannot support a criminal prosecution....

Because Wilson did not act with the requisite criminal intent, it cannot be proven beyond reasonable doubt to a jury that he violated 18 U.S.C.§ 242 when he fired his weapon at Brown....

Conclusion

For the reasons set forth above, this matter lacks prosecutive merit and should be closed.

Sure I got your point.. and blew it out of the water. The number of black mothers out of wedlock as a percentage has NOT increased.

:doh Considering that in 1940 less than 20% of black mothers were not married while by 2014 about 70% weren't, I would say that's an increase.

What affects black people? Well lets see.. First..there are studies that show that when a resume is sent to an employer...and the name on the resume is a black sounding name.. its significantly less likely to get a call back... then that same resume with a white sounding name.

There are studies that show that redlining and the effects of redlining.. still exist.

There are recent studies that show that black people applying for mortgages get hit with more fees and higher interest etc.. than white people with the same financial status.

Studies on the Judicial system show that there is racial bias against black people.

Studies on school systems... show that black children are more likely to be suspended for behavior.. while white kids are less likely to be suspended or expelled for the same behavior.

Lets see.. so you have racial bias in hiring, in the judicial system.. in getting loans, in education, Gee.. maybe its these things... and not because married black woman are having fewer kids.

You touch a lot of ground here, and I can't reasonably address all of it in a single post. So I'll focus on one: hiring. Part of the problem related to hiring comes in when the black candidate doesn't have the requisite qualifications compared to applicants of other races. For example, blacks have a considerably higher failure rate on passing state bar exams. If you were hiring a lawyer and you knew one candidate passed the bar on the first try while the other one needed at least one more try to pass it, would that fact affect your hiring decision?

That's sound advice.

It's weird that people like Michael Brown and Trayvon Martin are held up as righteous martyrs when there are much more clear cut cases of injustice, e.g. Walter Scott and Eric Garner. I think Scott's case was simple murder and Garner's was at least manslaughter.

Maybe it has something to do with the total publicity given the Brown and Martin cases. Cynical perhaps, but it looks a little like opportunism.

It's also weird that so many people insist on painting the police brutality problem as mainly a racial issue, when in fact far more white people are killed by police (yes, black deaths are disproportionate to their weight in the population, but they still are only about a quarter of police killings). Wouldn't it be more effective to get people of all races united behind a move to reform police tactics?

You claim blacks and liberals do not tell kids cops are racists and they you try to explain why it is a good thing they do tell kids that?

Nope not at all. Gee man.. you need to get a grip here.

first.. I said that black folks are NOT teaching their kids "he hates black kids and he will shoot one in a minute"... no way.. no how. Thats your BS.

But.. to deny.. that racism exist and that it exists among police officers.. just as much as it does the rest of the population... exposes my children to risk.

And its not like I or any other parent of a minority has to "teach their kid that people are racist". Society teaches them that. My sons realized racism back in elementary school when other children called them racist names. Instead.. we parents have to teach our minority children how to deal with racism as best they can. Part of that is to teach things like they have to be extra careful around police officers. They have to be better students, better workers, harder workers.. etc.. because they have to try and overcome the negative stereotypes that they will encounter.

In no way does this excuse the racism that exists in america.. or indicates that it should be accepted.. or that its okay. Now that I see it from my sons perspective.. I work hard to educate people about racism and change the institutions that continue to be racist.

However, my sons need to know how to live in a society that sees them differently than it does me. Thats just reality. The hardest thing as a parent is when there is no way to overcome it.. when the racism is just there and there is nothing they or I can do to alleviate it.

I have seen it.. I have felt it.. so I get the rage that black parents have.. I get the angry protests etc. You don;t understand it.. because you are white.. you don;t get it.

I get it. For example.. my sons endured racism in elementary school through middle school and even some in highschool. Now.. if every time.. some kid said something racist.. and the teacher ignored it. If everytime.. some kids ganged up on my son and started pushing him around and calling him racist names.... If everytime something racist happened to my child... I went running down to the school.. or the local pool.. or an employer... Crap.. I might as well camp out at the school.. So.. you don't..

And then.. something really bad happens or is potentially life threatening. Like when one of the racist kids.. my sons main tormentor.. threatened to shoot him with an arrow (in archery class).. Well.. that kind of behavior could be a real threat. Just screwing around.. a kid could get injured. And so I go down to the school to meet with the administration etc.. about this very real threat. And what do I get told by administration.. and a bunch of the other parents that here what I went down there for?

"oh its just an isolated incident... things like that don't happen in OUR school"... Talk about the rage my wife and I felt. Because it dang well does people. It dang well does.

Blah blah blah. YOU are the one that started the whole.. black communities are war zones crap.. so black people.. should be more concerned with that. You made a complete BS statement. And now.... you are making some completely and utterly irrelevant post about white coal miners.

Come on man.. everyone can see right through you.

Like I said, I'm sure there is unfair stereotyping going on and undoubtedly some, frankly, bigoted cops. But the BLM people need to get their **** together and do a better job of vetting their victims and not jump to conclusions before all of the facts are in.
Bull.. they already do. They are not jumping to conclusions on every black person that gets shot by police. You are only getting the ones that are obviously questionable. The black community is not up in arms over every black criminal gets shot.

Now.. when a black man in his own apartment gets shot for being in his own apartment.. thats an issue. When a black fellow.. who is the caregiver for a developmentally disabled person.. is lying on the ground with his hands in the air.. and gets shot.. thats an issue

When I man holding a cell phone in his parents backyard.. gets shot.. for nothing more than holding a cell phone.. thats an issue... the list goes on and on. and they include a black kid committing no crime.. who ends up getting killed by an armed man that pursued him down a dark street. YOU sir and a lot of other white people.. dismiss black lives matter because you stick to one or two cases.. and go... "well that guys was a punk.. I mean.. the teenager had smoked weed at some point.. or well the police thought he might have stole some things"... as if that explains why its okay that the teenager got shot while unarmed.

For cripes sake.. you have unarmed black people in their own dang apartments.. getting killed by police officers.. and your focus is.. "well black lives matter.. better get better victims?????"" WTF

Do yourself a favor: Find another victim.

Nah... sorry but the actual evidence still shows its not a good shoot.

AHHHH... you are so wrong. TAKE A LOOK AT THE LEFT SIDE OF THE GRAPH THAT YOU POSTED!!. IT does not say.. "percentage of mothers"... it DOES NOT SAY THAT... IT DOES NOT SAY THAT.

The left side of your graph says "PERCENTAGE OF [B]BIRTHS/B] to UNWED MOTHERS"....

percenage of births... I already explained it to you and gave you links to the statistics showing I am right. Percentage of births.. means that if the married black mother birth rate does down.. and they have fewer children.. or no children.. while the number of unwed mothers stays the same.. but they have the same number of children or simply don;t decrease in children as much as married mothers.. then the statistic gets skewed toward "out of wedlock births"...

THATS the reason for that number... fewer children by married mothers.. NOT more unwed mothers.

Wrong.. the study I referred to.. AND I PUT THIS IN MY POST... used resumes THAT WERE IDENTICAL when it came to qualifications. get that? IDENTICAL to qualifications. THEN ONLY DIFFERENCE IS IF IT WAS A BLACK SOUNDING NAME OR A WHITE SOUNDING NAME.

Qualifications had nothing to do with it.

Oh come on man... you just don;t want to understand it.. do you.

Black criminal who is obviously a threat to police.. is killed by police.. black folks and white folks don;t say a peep.

White criminal who is obviously a threat to police.. is killed by police.. black folks and white folks don;t say a peep.

the problem is.. you have way way way way .. larger number of black folks.. that are unjustly killed by police AND get away with it.. than you have white folks that are unjustly killed by police.

I can only think of three white folks unjustly killed. Jack Yantis.. The australian woman, and the kid in the hotel shot by the officer with an AR rifle when he was crawling toward him.

the list of questionable shoots of black folks? Lot higher.

Do you have a source for that? Every source I've checked show that of people killed by the police, far more are white.

Now, if you have data that shows that blacks are victims of far more of the "questionable" shootings, I would sincerely like to see it and learn. The same goes for the percentage of "unjust" police shootings where the police aren't convicted, broken down by race.

Until I see that data, I can only conclude there is no reason to believe that "bad" police shootings of blacks make up a far higher number than that of whites, in light of the fact that the majority of people killed are whites.

First.. I was not stating that white people are killed by police less. Thats true.. because white people make up the majority of people.

However.. I was injecting some context into the conversation.. since white people NOR black people protest when obvious threats to police are killed by police.

but you can start with this

Over the past year, The Post found that the vast majority of those shot and killed by police were armed and half of them were white. Still, police killed blacks at three times the rate of whites when adjusted for the populations where these shootings occurred. And although black men represent 6 percent of the U.S. population, they made up nearly 40 percent of those who were killed while unarmed.”

Fact check: More whites shot by police in 2015 than minorities?

I'm aware of those statistics.

A new look at racial disparities in police use of deadly force

Okay, so you are not going to own changing what I wrote, which says to me you were deliberately being disingenuous. But back to my point: Each year about 7,000 blacks are murdered, most of them by other blacks. In ten years that's 70,000 dead blacks, which is more dead than what we lost in the Vietnam War. And yet the larger problem is white oppression? Wow.

Nah... sorry but the actual evidence still shows its not a good shoot.

You're just seeing what you want to see. The evidence, both physical and witness testimony, corroborated the officer's account, as per the Department of Justice Report. It's there in, um, black and white. :2wave:

If there are ten kinds and seven of them are now raised by unwed mothers wheres decades ago maybe two were, does it really matter how you slice it? There is a good possibility a high percentage of those kids are going to be raised in poverty. Also, the rate of kids being raised in single-parent households is only slightly less than the rate of out-of-wedlock births.

Wrong.. the study I referred to..

SIR..you are ignoring the cold hard facts..

You know, you really have to look hard in Silicon Valley to 1) find a conservative; 2) find someone who isn't a progressive. They pretty much universally loathe Donald Trump as a hater and bigot. And yet the hiring of blacks with STEM backgrounds is lacking. There is virtually no diversity among the workforce in these high-paying tech jobs in California, Washington, and Oregon. But you'll find many East Indians and Chinese. Why do you think that is? California is stuffed to the gills with racist liberals who just like Patels and Wongs but not Robinsons or what?

Little brown boy: You had better be careful because there are a lot of bad cops out there who hate brown people and will hurt them if they are not prepared to fight them for trying.

Be wary and careful about what you do in front of a cop. What you think is normal everyday things could set one off, more like it. With the cops being further militarized, it is more likely one would overreact.

I'm aware of those statistics.

A new look at racial disparities in police use of deadly force

"To be clear, there is a population-level racial disparity in fatal police shootings. But our work suggests this disparity is explained by differences in rates of exposure to the police, rather than racial bias by officers making deadly force decisions."

But that rates of exposure to police could be and probably is due to racial bias:

The Stanford Open Policing Project has “collected and standardized over 200 million records of traffic stop and search data from across the country,” which resulted in sweeping evidence of “significant racial disparities in policing,” according to a new report.
NBC News reviewed data from the project and noted that officers stop and search Black and Latinx drivers based on less evidence than what they require to stop and search White drivers. Meanwhile, White drivers “are more likely to be found with illegal items.” From the report:
After accounting for age, gender and location, we find that officers ticket, search and arrest Black and Hispanic drivers more often than Whites. For example, when pulled over for speeding, Black drivers are 20 percent more likely to get a ticket (rather than a warning) than White drivers, and Hispanic drivers are 30 percent more likely to be ticketed than White drivers. Black and Hispanic motorists are about twice as likely to be searched compared to White drivers.

Okay, so you are not going to own changing what I wrote, :

Because I didn't.

And yet the larger problem is white oppression? Wow
.

Yep.. I don't know why you don't understand that... oh wait.. I have read your posts..so yes I do.

Lets start with the major factor in violent crime:

Income inequality.

(PDF) General Causes of Violent Crime: the Income Inequality

Income inequality is found to be a strong determinate in violent crime. Institutional racism.. like redlining, like disparity in hiring practices.. like banking.. and the judicial system.. all lead to income inequality for the black population.. and thus higher levels of crime.

If there are ten kinds and seven of them are now raised by unwed mothers wheres decades ago maybe two were, does it really matter how you slice it? d:

Yes it does. Because the overall birth rate for unwed mothers is actually going down.. so fewer of those children are likely to be born into poverty. The only difference is that while the birth rate for unwed mothers is going down..the birth rate for wed mothers is going down faster and more.

AS far as racism and silicon valley? Whats your point? I pointed out that there is institutional racism.. that affects hiring practices... I didn't say a word about Donald trump or silicon valley...

Stop trying to divert from the facts that I have presented to you.

Be wary and careful about what you do in front of a cop. What you think is normal everyday things could set one off, more like it. With the cops being further militarized, it is more likely one would overreact.

Statistically, fewer than 1 cop in a hundred turns out to be bad. Also statistically, more than 6 good cops in 100,000 are murdered by thugs who do not like cops.
