The Cohen materials outline how in October 2016 Essential Consultants was established, and then how in January 2017, money began to flow in monthly from Columbus Nova LLC. The monthly installments were for $83,333 and totaled $583,332 from January, 2017 to August 2017.​

Why this matters: The government, in its documents, states that LLC is "an investment management firm controlled by Renova Group, an industrial holding company based in Zurich, Switzerland that is controlled by Russian national Viktor Vekselberg."

Who's that? Viktor Vekselberg is an oligarch with close ties to Russian President Vladimir Putin, who was sanctioned in early 2018 for activities including election interference. The sanctions prohibit Vekselberg from traveling to the US.

Why was Vekselberg paying Donald Trumps lawyer and what for?

Vekselberg is a longtime friend and business partner of American billionaire and major GOP donor Leonard Blavatnik.

I don't quite understand ... the information that Cohen had been paid $500,000 by Columbus Nova LLC - and its affiliation - was already released last year and "discussed" in the media in May of 2018.

So, what makes the re-release of that info such a "bombshell"?

Actually old news. Cohen has even admitted to trying to sell access to Trump and he did so for millions, with many companies, including companies like AT&T.

It means we are on a new person who has all the goods on Trump. It's was never Manafort, Cohen, Papadapoulous, Flynn, Stone.. I am probably forgetting somebody. It was really Vekselburg who is a double bonus as he is Russian, but has a very Germanic sounding name.

This is all part of an active investigation that is going to produce indictments, that's what.

They defended Cohen until he plead guilty and then they attacked him, always pretending to be doing what they were doing on principle.

Possibly, who knows who all got swept up in purchasing the white house illegally. If they hadn't been so obvious and stupid with Russia they would have gotten away with it.
