House Oversight Committee Chairman Elijah Cummings asked reporter Diana Falzone to talk with investigators and provide documents.

A former Fox News employee plans to tell Congress about allegations that the outlet tried to stop her from reporting on the Stormy Daniels controversy during the 2016 election, citing an exception to a nondisclosure agreement she signed.

On Thursday, House Oversight Committee Chairman Elijah Cummings formally requested that the reporter, Diana Falzone, talk with committee investigators and provide documents related to her attempts to report on Daniels’ allegations that Michael Cohen, President Donald Trump's former longtime lawyer, paid her hush money after an alleged affair with Trump in 2006.

How much of an effect on the election the withholding of information regarding hush money payments may never be known. But the fact that Fox News knew it would do some damage to Trump's chances of being elected was obviously politically motivated. Fox wanted to help Trump win at any cost. It's the responsibility of democratic journalism to report facts. This isn't Russia where the press is just an arm of Putin, this is still America with a free press. Let's hope it remains that way.

LOL!!

So now the Dems are going to go after Fox News?

If there were any doubt in anyone's mind that this House nonsense has nothing to do with crimes or justice...rather is just politically motivated misuse of government power and taxpayer resources...this Fox News nonsense should put those doubts to rest.

Well this should be interesting to watch! Not that everyone doesn't know how dishonest Fox has been in carrying Trump's water and covering/lying for him. But it will be interesting to hear a reporter talk about it.

Another malcontent fired employee.

Networks control the content, not employees. Other networks have buried hundreds of stories. If that reporter wanted to control a media outlet's content, he should start one himself.

Hasn't this pretty much already been covered?

The reportage has been that campaign funds were not used to pay the hush money, and even if it was, isn't that the same as John Edwards using campaign money for his lover and love child?

There mere fact that Trump paid women hush money is nothing new or unusual, either for Trump nor for others in similar circumstances.

So until there's something that alters these facts, I'm not really seeing the point here. Maybe I'm wrong.

This thread is about Fox's participation in the cover up, not the act itself.

But since you mention Edwards, let's consider a few things. The National Enquirer was the one who went public with the story about him - but they buried the same story about Trump. Apparently Fox did the same thing. Don't we always complain on here about MSM outlets not reporting honestly? Or is that only bad when they don't report on Clinton's actions?

If you're suggesting that what happened to Edwards, which was the complete and total ruination of his career, also happen to Trump, I'll agree with you.

The difference is criminal intent. The sheer lengths to which Trump went in order to obscure the payments demonstrates mens rea.

The differences are legion, and this article goes into detailed length.

The story was refuted in a link provided by the main story.

Wow that's all ya got?

That was clearly an illegal campaign donation, now the question is, did trump know???

The article assumes the crime:

1. Cohen's confession has no legal impact on Trump.

2. The article assumes money given to Cohen and AMI was an in kind contribution. Trump would dispute that should he ever be charged.

3. The law requires knowledge that the law is being broken.

The lengths to which Trump obscured the payments and the timing of those payments have been covered to death. I'm not relitigating this for the ten thousandth time just for you.

I understand that your purpose here is to spread disinformation for the purpose of protecting Donald Trump. In other words, you hold now the role that Michael Cohen executed before he flipped on Trump.

You brought the issue up here, not I.

Fox News sat on a story...so ****ing what?

Old geezer Cummings (aka Droopy) is wasting our tax dollars on this? Kick his ass off the committee.

So much for freedom of the press. :lamo

You guys lost. Quit whining and reliving 2016. Trump's P****-grabbing film was public knowledge during the election as were several other accusations of misbehavior, why would one more incident have made any difference. Focus on 2020.

So you ARE okay with the idea of Trump being destroyed the way Edwards was destroyed...wow eohrnberger, that's very broad-minded of you.

Edwards used campaign funds to pay Hunter. Apples and oranges.

"In May 2017, Falzone filed a lawsuit against Fox News in New York State Supreme Court alleging gender and disability discrimination, and alleging that she had been banned from taking part in on-air activities at Fox News three days after the article was published.[5] Falzone further alleged that after the article ran, a supervisor informed her that senior network executives Bill Shine and Jack Abernethy had banned her from ever appearing on FoxNews.com, and that she was not permitted to host her own shows, conduct her own interviews, appear on Fox TV, or do voiceovers, and that she should look for another job.[5][4]"
