Good questions. Seems that this 'dossier' was thrust onto the FBI from a number of different sources all on or about the same time.
Almost as if this was coordinated in some fashion, so that it would be impossible for the FBI to ignore . . . . .

Just because it's backed up, admitted to by the subject himself and has generally been proven false for 2 years isn't really sufficient proof these days. Unless Rachael Maddow says it isn't tru there is always the possibility that the denials have simply been a massive coverup.

Actually, if you watch the video, read the transcript, Trump was saying that if you are famous you can get away with doing that, not that he had done that himself.

But since when would anyone expect any sort of accuracy from the media when it comes to their reporting on Trump. Right? So often wrong they've been, almost count on it.

That's because it was unverified. McCain didn't care though....He just wanted to get it out there, lie about his role, and ruin Trump.
The dossier was given to David Kramer -- a former State Department official and McCain associate. He was responsible for getting copies of the dossier to a dozen journalists at outlets including CNN, BuzzFeed and The Washington Post. McCain denied and lied that he had a role in the dossier getting to BuzzFeed.

You know when it comes to the left they are all so willing to believe anything derogatory said about Trump even by Russians close to the Kremlin . It was Russians that Steele got his information from for his infamous dossier . The only friggin collusion with Russians that occurred in 2016 was the Clinton campaign, the DNC with Fusion GPS and Christopher Steele. I have to tell you in the past weeks with the release of testimonies of persons involved in all of this I am convinced there's some people going to jail for what they engaged in and the media that promoted it all the way is facing a day of reckoning.

As far as McCain goes, for two years folks have known it was he and his aides that were responsible in part for spreading that piece of **** to the media. I am just sorry he isn't still among us to face his lies denying it.

Regardless of how one feels about John McCain, the man, the long time senator who reached across the aisle to Democrats, a decorated war hero, a beloved father and husband, friend of many, I knew his hands were dirty when it came to the dossier and he lied about being involved in releasing an UNVERIFIED dossier to the media.

I do not see in the article where it claims that McCain gave the dossier to the media. It claims an "associate" of his shared it with the media. It is not news that McCain gave it to the FBI.

I assume most of McCain's actions in regard to Donald Trump were attempts to save the nation from a crazy person.

If Trump had released a similar document about Clinton, his base would be cheering.

For once I agree with you. When discussing court decisions, for example, how hard can it be to imbed a link to the decision? Or in this case the testimony? I'd much rather read the document than someone's 400 word summary of it, regardless of outlet.

More information on when the dossier was written.

According to this report, the Steele document, as Steel testified, was written on the Dec. 13, 2016.

He testified none of it was ever verified by himself. IOW, he never bothered to go back to Russia and get verification. Page 12.

See Item A: page 15 of Steele Testimony, (link below). The unverified Steels dossier was given to David Kramer by the request of John McCain, who then distributed copies to the media, including BUZZFEED.
