Re: Trump envoy is selling out Afghanistan in Taliban peace talks: senior Afghan official
You should also remember that the Russians were invited into Afghanistan by the legal government of Afghanistan and that that legal government of Afghanistan was in danger of being turfed out of office by Afghans (and their supporters) who were fed up with the level of graft and corruption which wasn't balanced off by any corresponding level of "good government"[SUP]1[/SUP].
Today the situation is completely different because it is the legal government of Afghanistan that is in danger of being turfed out of office by Afghans (and their supporters) who were fed up with the level of graft and corruption which wasn't balanced off by any corresponding level of "good government"[SUP]1[/SUP].
NOTES
[SUP]1[/SUP] "Good government" being used in the Afghan sense of "letting local graft and corruption continue unabaited while providing at least a modicum of public services AND not stealing everything in sight for the benefit of the leaders of the national government" and NOT in the Canadian "Peace, Order, and Good Government" sense.
Yeah...we go in debt. At some point it's going to be a problem. Also, we were in Afghanistan before to fight the Russians. It ended up funding and training Bin Laden and the Taliban...how'd that work out for us? Your position is clown shoes.
