Mass shootings at Christchurch mosques

As I post this news, it is still an ongoing situation in New Zealand. There are multiple shootings at two separate mosques in New Zealand. The peaceful services were interrupted by gunfire. One mosque is on the north island, in Auckland, the other on south island, Christchurch.

"What has happened here is an extraordinary and unprecedented act of violence," she said.
Ardern said the attacker has "no place in New Zealand."
"For now my thoughts and I'm sure the thoughts of all New Zealanders are with those who have been affected their families," she said.

Violence is certainly not the way to achieve your aims, especially these types of senseless acts. Motive for the shootings remain to be determined, but I'm probably not speaking out of term to suggest that people's first reaction to hearing this news is to suspect some Islamophobic intent. Discerning motives in the countless Islamic terrorist attacks upon Europe landed me in fair amount of hot water here on DP, but it's safe to assume less restraint in jumping to conclusions will now be made by those who made every excuse in the world for the terrorist who perpetrated the Bastille Day attack of 2016 in France, for example.

When you bring up Muslims terrorists after a white person just shot up a bunch of Muslims while refusing to condemn the shooter, you're a racist and a ****ing awful person. I don't excuse ANY terrorist attacks, especially not right wing white extremists that have the highest body count in the west.

The shooter was not politically motivated, part of his manifesto showed he was a fan of chaos.

To early to bring race and politics into this.

This definitely rings the bell of truth, no matter how much liberals hate it. If we followed their reasoning in response to violence committed by Muslims, it would look something like this:

We should all band together and stop the spread of whiteophobia. This act was clearly committed by a distressed person who's tired of his people being demonised and negatively portrayed. The solution is to show white people more love and tolerance.

How I get dinged about a year or so ago for saying 'Trumpster' and yet we see the Islamophobic/anti-semitic/racist/sexist crap going on here on a daily basis is beyond me, and it has only gotten worse.

People feel like they can be their true toxic selves on the internet. They cannot act or say what they really think in society because they know they'd be ostracized.
