Ocasio-Cortez and freshman allies amass power, creating problems for Pelosi and party | Fox News

Freshman Rep. Rashida Tlaib’s Twitter bio declares her the “Unbossed Congresswoman” for Michigan’s 13th District.

While the moniker has roots in Shirley Chisholm’s successful campaign to become the first black congresswoman, nowadays it also could be seen as a blunt message to Democratic leadership: Nobody is bossing around the class of 2019.

And that’s a problem for party bosses.

On everything from the Green New Deal to impeachment to criticism of Israel, a squad of first-year congresswomen are flexing their muscle and posing an implicit challenge to Democratic honchos like Speaker Nancy Pelosi. Their stridently liberal agenda – and power to steer the national conversation via social media and press attention – has fueled tensions inside the party tent that in turn are testing leadership's control while stirring political concerns going into 2020.
I've been talking about Pelosi's headache. Here's an article about it. But Dems brought this on themselves. They keep veering left, until they get socialists elected.

Good. For too long, the Democratic Party has tried too hard to appease the Republican Party that has gone further and further right to the point where they openly support Nationalism and Fascism. All while Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer sit and get paid to ineptly meander around and let the GOP run roughshod against the country.

Sounds like HML, Hoyer, wishes he had a sock to gag a few of the newbie big mouths. Hoyer is right too. Impeachment will kill any chance the Dems have in the 2020 presidential elections. The public is not for impeaching Trump, and these newbies ought to start listening to the people and stop with the self will runs riot type behavior.

House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer of Maryland hit back at some of the most visible new Democrats in Congress when asked Monday by Fox News about the push to impeach President Trump: “We’ve got 62 new (Democratic) members. Not three.”

Hoyer apparently was referring to Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York, Rashida Tlaib of Michigan and Ilhan Omar of Minnesota, who regularly have fought the Trump administration's policies since entering Congress.

They won't They think their version of "Amerika" is one where taxpayers are forced to fork over 85% of our hard earned so lazy scumbags can leech more off the system.

Ocasio-Cortez is Fox New's headache, problem and obsession. And now she is yours as well.

Not really, since none of our base believe in that ****. But thanks for playing.

This is a common phenomenon. Republicans veered right after 8 years of Barack Obama. Now democrats are veering left after 2 years of Donald Trump. The harder one side pulls the rubber band, the harder it snaps back in the other direction.

Nope. Not true at all. As a body, they've veered left, or more accurately, abandoned their more moderate / conservative values. And rather than trying to work with Republicans, they've focused on voting as a block.

I agree that impeachment is the wrong political move for democrats, but it's not because there isn't a strong public will for impeachment. Donald Trump is the candidate that democrats want to run against because his performance as president makes him an easy target to win political points against him. Ironically, the best move republicans could make is to impeach Donald Trump at the last second and run Pence or any other republican candidate in 2020: Clear the decks. All eyes have been focused on Trump and all strategies involve campaigning against him with the mountains of ammunition he has given the democrats over the last two years. Robbing the democrats of that ammunition gives republicans the best chance of holding the presidency.

There are 435 Congressional reps. Just curious why one of them, an freshman from a crappy area of NYC who won by 15,000 votes, impacts you so much?

Have you always worried about one Congressional rep? I know of one who was convinced that Guam was going to tip over. He didn't get as much attention as the right gives her.

If I were still a Republican I'd be a hell of a lot more worried about what has happened to the Republican Party than a single Congressional rep.

Trump is primarily the fault of establishment Republicans not keep their promises.

Interesting. I've not seen that figure thrown about by any of these freshmen, and when I try to google it, nothing comes up. What I've seen proposed is 70% of income after the ten-millionth dollar earned.

For mouth-breathers, the Democratic Party has "veered left" but for the rest of the world, the American Democratic party, as a whole is still conservative and too close to center. There is no such thing as "moderate/conservative values" anymore. That would require the GOP to have scrupels in the first place.

And rather than trying to work with Republicans, they've focused on voting as a block.

How do you figure that? It's a demonstrable fact that the Democratic party bent over backwards in hopes to cater to the Republican Party who was publicly cheering on criminals pointing firearms at Federal Law Enforcement. Pelosi and Obama contributed absolutely nothing to the betterment of America over 6 years of political control over America other than the advancement of GOP policies and the enrichment of billionaires.

She's apparently newsworthy right now, so we talk about her. You do realize that's how BN works right?

Your base doesn't believe in the conventional understanding of facts, evidence or science either. So you can just throw that in with the rest.

damn, how many "bosses" are there?

I am not sure what you mean by the DEms brought this on themselves???????

We saw this same phenomena around 2000 with the birth of the Evangelical as a voting block which, through the aid and organization of Fox News became the tea baggers. Now the TRumpets. These nuts made life hell on the GOp and eventually ran off all the reasoned republicans.

Seems like a similar thing happening on the left now. Thank God the left has no Fox News to hold events and rally people to.

But sure as hell the Dems themselves are not advancing this extremism. The wise ones lie Pelosi are being very measured in handling them.

Almost every link you all post is to Fox News. They consider her newsworthy - and you people eat it up. I've never seen such obsession over one single freshman Congressional rep in my life.

Anyone who denies biological science and believes "gender is a spectrum" has no business whatsoever calling anyone a "Science denier".

And science is not something you "believe" in either, it's a process.

So you support a man who promises to reduce the deficit (he isn't), have Mexico pay for a wall (they aren't), and repeal and replace the ACA (didn't happen), because "establishment"?

Okay, if you're going to post childish words I'm going to ignore you. Most of your post is bull**** and wrong anyway.
