House Votes in Favor of Illegal Immigrant Voting

Just bolded the "huh" part of your post....Trying to abolish the electoral college is recently a democratic thing, maybe Republicans clamored for it when Obama was elected, but I don't think so, but I could be wrong.

You are. Do you think it was liberals clamoring for this?

If anything, it was Republicans that got the idea when they thought they were a majority. They haven't been a majority in a decade. The writing is on the wall for the GOP and they're doing everything they can to restrict even legal voters from accessing the ballot box.

Lol, remember, this thread was based on a lie.

I thought the republican party was usually the party that wanted the feds out of state and local government.

We have a smallish population of undocumented residents in my city. I wouldn't have a problem with them voting in school board elections because they have kids that go there. How is it the federal government's business if my city decides to allow it (which trust me, they won't). I don't see any reason to think that would lead to voting in any elections for any office other than that.

The difference is the ability to admit when wrong and I have done that, you never have to the best of my knowledge. It isn't about the time in the forum it is about the posts and your support for those who believe as you do and total ignorance of the data and ability to research that data

er uh Con, I know you're only here to derail the thread but since it derailed in the first post I have to ask: when have you ever admitted you were wrong. I post facts that prove you wrong and I got nothing. I post you contradicting yourself and still I got nothing. I'm just wondering if in fact you've ever admitted being wrong or is this just another ridiculous lie on your part?

Conservative gets caught lying and making up understandings of the laws, and his response is to spam a thread with how much more virtuous he is and how you spend 24/7 on this forum even though he has 2x More posts than people who've been here far longer than he has.

Lol, you can't fix delusions of grandeur.

The problem with Republicans in their 50s and 60s is that they think my generation will keep their culture wars going forever.

House Democrats voted Friday to defend localities that allow illegal immigrants to vote in their elections. This turned back a Republican attempt to discourage the practice just six months ago, when the chamber was under Republican control. At that time 40 some Democrats joined the Republicans to discourage the practice in localities that allow it. This time only a handful of Democrats joined the Republicans denouncing the practice. It's just another example how far left the Democratic party has gone in recent weeks on multiple issues.

Greetings, Vesper. :2wave:

Why would this illegal act be allowed anywhere in this Country for any reason at any time, and I don't care which party is guilty! I would be interested in knowing the names of who voted in favor of this shameful error in judgment and WHY? :damn

I assumed you wanted the exact bill, and the wording they used, when I said it was remarkable the wording was in there, I took the article at it's word and they summarized what was in there,

Seriously, this shouldn't be this hard,

And everyone wonders why politicis are rancid right now? Can't even ignite a discussion.....that's just sad.
I am going to give you the benefit of the doubt and assume that you really do want to discuss this issue, and by discuss, I mean talking about it in a reasonable way.

Don't you think that it would be difficult to have a reasonable discussion if you do not

A) use legitimate and credible sources that you have validated

B) avoid fallacies like the Slippery Slope argument (ie. This is just a first step)

C) avoid accusing others of having beliefs they have not claimed to have (ie. So you think everyone should be able to vote)

Between you and my wife, I am pretty darn set, I will tell you that.

And yes, there is a big difference between local school boards and national elections,

Answer me this though, if you allow it for local elections, where/when/how do you draw the line?

To me it's pretty simple, either you are allowed to vote, or you are not. The size and the scope of the election should not make a difference.
We live in a democracy. We can set the line wherever we want to.

And I don't know of any rule that says if we let a group of people vote in one type of election, we have to let them vote in every election

Agreed.

As is most anything the left doesn't like.

Greetings, Erik. :2wave:

If there is any other country on this planet that allows anyone from anywhere to vote in their country any time they feel like it, I'd like to hear who they are because this could fall under RIPLEY's Believe it or Not, and would either be deemed worthy of a loud shoutout of good news, or become known as the country of psychiatric hospitals created for people who find it impossible to obey the laws of their own country! :moody

Stand Down...The story is fake, bogus....More non sense to get middle aged white people frightened....

Voting is a right of citizens, it should not be changed. Why bother to become a citizen if we are going to award you all the rights and priveleges of citizenship even if you are illegals? Make no real sense but perfect political sense for liberals. They want those votes. In the future look for more black americans to turn away from the democrats, so they need to make up the voting loss. Makes perfect sense.

3 Arguments for Keeping Electoral College Are All Wrong | Time

If your ONE argument that says it's REPUBLICANS are pushing to change the system is a tweet from Trump in 2012....you don't have much ground to stand on.

I love it though how, everyone says Trump is a liar, you can't trust his words, he lies, etc and then...they bring up his words to say thats what he thinks/feels etc.

Can't have it both ways, he can't be an outright liar that lies all the time, then attack him by using the same thing you said he lied about, as a truth.

Trump's single most problem right now, is he can't shut up and get out of his own way.

Anyways, tell me again how Republicans want to get rid of the electoral college?

I’m sorry to say you’ve been conned by actual fake news. It saddens me that bogus stuff like this gets published, and gullible people then believe it. Then, later, they vote thinking this information was truthful. It’s not good for democracy.

Absolutely agree with you, I think I owned up to it 3 or 4 pages in, but regardless, agree, it only hurts the country when that happens.

Washington Times should have been a solid source you would think...but yes, in principle.

B. First step isn't a fallacy, not sure why you would say that. Especially in this day and age of political correctness.

C. If accusations are made, they are made straight up, not by asking questions.

And I don't know of any rule that says if we let a group of people vote in one type of election, we have to let them vote in every election

Not yet, but that is how laws are made/expanded.

It's not far fetched to ask, if you let them vote in local elections, how long before they are asking to vote in national elections, and how long is it before people want them to? Right now, there are people perfectly ok with them being here illegally, bypassing the system that OTHERS have went through, essentially cutting the line etc. Right, wrong, fair, unfair, everyone has an opinion on it, but it's a legitimate argument to ask those questions.

We have established that the best of your knowledge doesn't often hold a candle to some of the forum's most reliable posters. Hell, I'm not even the most reliable and I made your attempt to try to get some digs at my presence on DP look stupid, given that you literally post 2.5 times more than I do, and your posts roughly allow for 1 post every hour on this forum. This gives you close to 2x the number of posts that I have, in 3/4ths of the time.

You're mad that demographics means your preferred party won't be winning popular elections and will be relying on changing the rules to the game to win. That's fine, just don't get it twisted. The fact that I spend far less time than you do here means I can afford to live whatever life you have, and still have enough left over to live whatever life I want.

Lol, you trippin'.
You are so right the opinion of "reliable" trumps official verifiable data. Thanks for pointing that out

I noticed you dropped the "you spent 24 hours here" routine after you were shown to be an hourly visitor to DP. I guess it's easier than being regularly destroyed in the economics forums and complaining that people aren't as giddy about you hypocrisy as you are.

Stay in your lane buddy, your life isn't as real as mine.

Don't really mind the 24 7 hours you spend here but I do take exception when you don't post official data to support your claims but suppprt the opinions of who you call Reliable posters.

You see opinions don't win debates or court cases so you lose on both counts

Lol 80K posts over 9 years. Just under 10K posts a year. Claims other people spend the day here. I could spend a year writing every day for 24 hours a day and still be 24000 posts under your current.

You can't fix that sort of delusion.

Facts matter. Another fun fact: Democrats out numbered Republicans by millions in every presidential election of the last 12 years. Democrats regained the House.
