President Trump on Wednesday responded to the Democratic National Committee refusing to let Fox News host a Democratic primary debate by threatening to “do the same thing” with other networks during the general election.

“Democrats just blocked @FoxNews from holding a debate. Good, then I think I’ll do the same thing with the Fake News Networks and the Radical Left Democrats in the General Election debates!” Trump tweeted Wednesday.

I think that tweet just confirmed WHY Fox shouldn't be allowed to host the Democratic debates.
 
Why don't we just go without the General Election debate. Everybody knows who they are going to vote for by that time anyway.

The questions are never actually answered by the candidates.

I'd like to see him try that one. The SDNY would be able add another notch to their belt buckle with a new crime conviction. Why should Fox host any democratic debates, they're clearly fully owned by Trump? It's not a secret and everyone knows it, they're an arm of Trump.

Fox News knew about the hush money payments to Stormy Daniels before any other news outlet and they chose to bury it, not report that news until it was known throughout the other news agencies, then and only then did Fox report on it. So, they intentionally stifled that story to protect Trump. So, screw Fox.

no big deal. i don't need to see him lie to know that i will be voting against him. it won't be any more difficult than voting against him via Clinton.

I think the RNC should boycott ALL news outlets that report the truth. If that happened, they'd be a lonely island wallowing in a sea of sycophants, nothing more. As a matter of fact that would be incredibly beneficial for democrats because Trump wouldn't be getting his lies and poison out to masses of people, like Independents and people on the fence about who to vote for. His message would only go out to diehard pro-Trump and pro-Fox base, which is all they have to begin with.

I am sick of Fox and Republicans controlling the messaging of the Left. It happens here, too.
Had enough.

This is another one of those subjects where the battle lines being drawn and all the partisan support for this nonsense ends up harming the voter.

We’ve known for sometime that networks have a political lean, we know networks tend to highlight what makes their opposition look bad and diminish coverage on what harms their own, and we know that dealing with the debates has always been problematic.

But doubling down in support of what the DNC is doing, or what Trump is suggesting with a Tweet makes the issue much worse. If one is in politics and refuses to engage political opposition the natural invitation is for all things division oriented.

There is no possible way to look back on this and suggest gain or improvement, and if Trump had any wisdom at all he would have realized the opportunity he wasted. DNC backs out of working with FoxNews, all he had to do was nothing and show he is not afraid of CNN, MSNBC, whoever else.

But hell no, he took the bait and joined the DNC in epic cowardice.

Hopefully someone at the RNC shows a little confidence. Doubtful, but it would be nice.

Has Fox ever held a democratic primary debate?
At least let's say since Bush?

If they haven't then why is the president interfering in the norm again?
If they have....have the people that gave Trump the questions in the last fox debate been treated and judged the same received the same punishment as the CNN folks?

Yep. It's one of the many reasons I never saw him as a leader. There have been so many opportunities to take the higher road, but he prefers reprisals as his reaction of choice. None of this is surprising if you look back at his public life prior to becoming president; the sad thing is its what many identify as "strength". His calls for unity are laughable given his tactics of attacking opponents with pettiness and child-like behavior; and while some may see it as "sticking it to the man" it really is just us shooting ourselves in the foot. In a previous post I stated this is just the continuation of more political silos. What I'm hoping is for a groundswell of folks who don't want to participate in this moronic nonsense and start voting for candidates who are more focused on solving issues than engaging in this idiocy.

That sounds nice but there won't be any Republucsn primary debates. Didn't the RNC change there rules so trump can't be primaried?

The deluge of conservative posts here are no different. They've been desperate in their attempts to change the dialogue. Distortion, lies, misinterpretation, character assassinations and downright denials of fact and reality have been rampant ever since Democrats took over the House. It's only going to get worse.
 
I don't think Trump has the authority or any ability to do that.

i'll probably watch the debates if they happen. however, i'm fairly fed up. if Trump wants to cancel the debates, then whatever.
