Ocasio-Cortez, chief of staff illegally moved $885K in campaign contributions 'off the books,' FEC c

If you are never charged with a crime and thus never tried in court then, of course, you will remain innocent. That is how the "just us" system works.

It seems clear there has been some serious misdeeds.

She should be the joyous recipient of a really, really deep dive into what happened.

Then let the chips fall where they may.

If wrongdoing occurred, then those responsible should be punished. Now let’s see Trump-cultists/AOC Derangement Syndrome sufferers say the same about Trump’s glaring wrongdoings

What wrong doings?

A deep dive into all her documents should provide a clear picture.

For her sake, I hope she doesn’t pull a Hillary and start eliminating evidence.

She doesn’t have the leadership of the FBI, nor DoJ thinking she will do them any favors.

The OP link paints a very unclear picture - a series of LLCs/DBAs set up by her campaign manager to move funds about. To prove that she was aware of, much less directed, those actions is unlikely to ever become clear enough for prosecution of her. She will likely assert that money in politics is the problem - not that she did anything wrong other than place her trust in the wrong person.

Editor’s corrections in red:

The rules are for non-Democrats now. That cuts one way. All she needs to do is to say “I’m a prominent Democrat, the future of the party”.

Remember Scooter Libby?

He claimed to forgot. Off to prison he went... and we learned he did not leak the Plame name, and this was known before chasing after Scooter Libby.

Hillary?
Comey?
Clapper?
Lynch?
Holder?
Ohr?

Yep... it is a 2-tier justice system, where Democrats get protection.

The ones that will be found very soon, of course.

Like what? How about a list. Or one example?

At the moment, Ocasio Cortez’s set up looks really, really shady.

Do some reading. It’s not looking very good for her and her man.

But Trump asked Russia to hack Clinton's email server on live TV.

this is fun.

The rules are for little people now. That cuts both ways. All she needs to do is to say "fake news."

Sounds like a witch hunt from deranged Republicans.

If Rump can make that claim with no accountability, the gloves are off.

Looks like Ms Polly Perfect has an ethics problem in her office. And wasn't she railing against this very thing? Is this the good part of socialism we've heard so much about, transparency?

haha...love that you guys are getting all bunched in the pants over this.

So, which is it, American? Do you think she should be investigated, or do you think this "witch hunt" should stop?

See the predicament having no standards has left you in? If you justify shady behavior in your president, you automatically justify it in everyone else. Guess y'all didn't think that through...

Of course, being a lefty, I can still say "Investigate", and not be laughed out of the room...and if I don't, I'm no worse than the right. Huh...how bout dat...

That depends on whether she was deemed to be grossly negligent or merely extremely careless - does it not? Can you prove that she intended for her campaign staff to bend the FEC rules a bit?

The candidate has to sign off on the FEC reports, so ignorance isn't an excuse.

Like what? How about a list. Or one example?

Are you not aware of several ongoing House committee investigations into all things Trump related (before, during and after his 2016 POTUS campaign)? There may not yet be a list of specific crimes but there is a (growing) list of suspects who must be questioned and documents which must be examined.

This one just doesn't have enough info yet. People are so quick to jump on AOC that I'm not buying it until I see a lot more. I am personally inclined to believe she is innocent and maybe this didn't even happen as its being painted.

We will see what comes up. I just really don't see her committing some major campaign finance crimes on her first run for office when she doesn't even understand money and hasn't really had any stink of rule-breaking till now. It's especially hard to believe when so many on the right are trying so hard to take her down.

The reaction doesn't surprise me, but I'm not ready to jump into the mess yet.

I can’t post the entire article, nor other articles.

The picture seems clear. She and her Campaign Dude created a setup to skirt the law.

I had a poll asking how long she would last. I didn’t believe she would get a second term. Looks like she may not complete her first term.

If anyone bothered to read the actual court documents you'd see it was filed by a right wing organization and not the result of any investigation by the government. So in summary right wingers in this thread believe lawsuits filed by right wing organizations prove corruption and investigations by actual law enforcement into the President are witch hunts. It shouldn't escape anyones attention that the originators of witch hunts were the ultra religious conservatives. They really haven't grown that much as a people have they? Socially speaking.

LOL, at least Trump is President of the USA. He affects our lives as such.

This Cortez dementia stuff is about a brown 28 year old girl who does not affect you. LOL

Trumpets, wild men on drugs.

bang bang, shoot em up Trumpies!
Talk about Whataboutism. Don't worry about AOC's corruption because Whatabout Trump.m

A lot of The Best People are saying that, Believe me.

Ignorance may not be an excuse but it can be (and has been) successfully used to deny any criminal intent.

The recent decision in Sacramento, CA not to charge two police officers for shooting (and killing) a suspect who held a cellphone in his hand is a prime example - the fact that the officers were ignorant of what was actually in his hand allowed one to proclaim "gun" and thus both to open fire on the "armed" suspect. Ignorance, as to whether the suspect was armed, allowed that to be declared a "good shoot" or at least not worthy of pressing charges and letting a jury decide.

But Trump asked Russia to hack Clinton's email server on live TV.

this is fun.

That’s your go to? ROTFLOL. May I suggest a facepalm?

Trump was mocking the feckless Democrat Propaganda Machine, and their sickening defense of Hillary’s criminalities.

Trump didn’t delete 33,000 emails. He didn’t do it after a subpoena was issued. Hillary did... and we all know the Goebbels Insprired Media Propagandists (GIMPS) weren’t doing any searching.

It was a hilarious, and brilliant move on Trump’s part.

Investigate her and her Campaign Manager thoroughly.

This setup looks pretty bad. It seems the setup was intended to deceive.

Now we know where she got the cash for those $3500 suits.

Cool, I get to play Trumpist in this thread.

So what? But Trump paying off porn stars with his lawyer's fake company.
Nice Whataboutism. Want to comment on AOC's potential corruption now? It's all about the Benjamins. baby.

Talk about Whataboutism. Don't worry about AOC's corruption because Whatabout Trump.m

Here's a suggestion: turn whataboutery into collaboration - show "the left" how serious they should be about AOC's alleged corruption through your own seriousness about Trump's alleged corruption. This whole AOC thing is relatively new, while you guys have been setting the bar with Trump for a while now... Why get hot and bothered about AOC, given the new standard of accountability established with Trump?
