House Democrats exploded in recriminations Thursday over moderates bucking the party, with liberal Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez threatening to put those voting with Republicans “on a list” for a primary challenge.

Take it in people, take it all in...AOC is a cancer to this nation...An authoritarian Socialist/Marxist...Is this really what America wants?

A good look at this question was put out by Heritage that needs to be read....A clip:

"DSA believes in ending the private ownership of industries whose products are viewed as “necessities.” The production of such products, it argues, should not be left to “profiteers.” It also believes that government should “democratize” private businesses — that is, give workers control over them — to the greatest extent possible. “Socialism,” explains a member of DSA’s national steering committee, “is the democratization of all areas of life, including but not limited to the economy.”What is happening in America, once the apotheosis of capitalism?
The first part of that answer lies in two words, not “Karl Marx,” but “Bernie Sanders.” The senator from Vermont captured the hearts and the votes of many millennials with his call for single payer health care, free public college, campaign finance reform, and racial, economic, and climate justice. The prime target of his animus was the top 1 percent in America who own, it is true, some 40 percent of the nation’s total wealth — as much as the bottom 90 percent. What Bernie rarely pointed out was that the same top 1 percent paid 39.5 percent of the individual income taxes. Sanders had a ready explanation for how to pay for all of the freebies: increase the taxes on the rich and their corporations. In Bernie’s world, there is such a thing as a free lunch because the bill will be paid by those at the top.
According to one CNN analyst, millennials rallied in the many thousands behind Sanders because they are socially liberal — especially on LGBT rights — saddled with mountains of student debt, disillusioned with the status quo, “and eager to break with traditional [political] models.” Bernie provided solutions to all their problems — without detailing the price or conceding the lessening in individual liberty. Such details were swept aside by the revolutionary spirit of the millennials who “felt the Bern.” As one Bernista said, “You can build a powerful political movement with a base of 2 million true believers.”

And how is that any different than trump or the RNC threatening to attack anyone that dares primary against trump or trump threatening to attack anyone who goes against him?

You say we cannot have this in the us when you support trump who has done exactly that. You are a hypocrite.

Hmm... Tax the rich, feed the poor, 'til there are no rich no more. The problem, it seems, is then what?

What could have been a reasonable discussion about the new Democratic majority, ruined by partisan jibberish.
If we're gonna compare Democrats to Republicans in today's climate, and ask "what we want", it's:
- not trump
- not trump's collaborators.

But it is true, the newly elected Democrats need to figure out if they won their elections because of their own personal platform, or because there was a national backlash against the worst president in modern history along with complicit Republican congress.
I feel it's the latter, and if they make that calculus based on the former, they may get burned, and burn democrats along with it.

You're being fooled. Trump cut taxes on the wealth/corporations.
Trump funded economic growth with massive deficit spending and on the tax cuts (deficit spending).

If a Democrat had instead raised taxes on the wealthy, and increase spending, would the nation have gone more into debt or less ttwwtt?
Tax cuts for wealthy and corporations + more deficit spending
Tax increases for the wealthy/corporations + more deficit spending

Tell me more about how taxing the rich till the ain't no more, is even remotely related to this reality.

What, exactly, did the OP have to do with Trump or tax cuts?

I think that the House was a rather mild election considering that is what usually happens to a President in the midterms...In fact it was, compared to recent midterms in the past administration really mild....But, go ahead and think it was some kind of mandate to become more radical, and lose in 2020....

Pelosi unleashed her characteristic subtle criticism on Ocasio-Cortez and her partner in the Green New Deal, Sen. Ed Markey (D-MA), in an interview with a reporter from “Rolling Stone” magazine, who asked her why she had yet to allow House Democrats to dicuss the plan openly.

“The Green New Deal,” Pelosi said, goes “beyond our charge.” and “is not what we hope to achieve.”

“Now, in terms of the Green New Deal [as conceived], that goes beyond what our charge is. Our charge is about saving the planet,” Pelosi told RS. “They have in there things like single-payer and … what is it? Guaranteed income?”

An aide quickly added, “Guaranteed income, and then a jobs guarantee.”

That's your response? Yes, silly me thinking you'd discuss something seriously.

...so give all the wealth to just a favoured few, 'til the rest work for bare subsistence wages, a dollar or two a day.

Like everything, taxes in moderation. IMO the USA is slipping too far towards a favoured few.

From Wikipedia in 2007:

As of 2007, the richest 1% held about 38% of all privately held wealth in the United States. while the bottom 90% held 73.2% of all debt. According to The New York Times, the richest 1 percent in the United States now own more wealth than the bottom 90 percent.

More recent numbers I believe:

This statistic shows the wealth distribution in the United States in 2016 based on family data. The distribution indicates that the lower-income 50 percent of the American population owned about 1.2 percent of the total wealth, while the 1 percent top-earners were in possession of about 38.6 percent of the wealth. The rising wealth inequality in the U.S. has become a growing concern among the public and a common theme in political discourse. In 2018, a majority of people worldwide owned less than 10,000 U.S. dollars, while 436 million owned 100,000 to 1 million dollars.

I was thinking of questioning that for you....You tried to say that I was comparing Trump to AOC, I wasn't...then you went into some disjointed rant about the tax cuts...Try again buddy.

I'm discussing your article.

If AOC and others believe they were elected primarily due to their own particular political platform/views/agenda, I believe they are making a mistake.
Democrats won a house majority IMO, in large part based on voters choosing "not Trump or Republicans". I believe they did so both in opposition to Trump, but also in opposition to Republican's controlling both branches. Because of that, I don't think the fiery new Democrats should be feeling that they personally have a mandate. I mean, they should represent their district, no doubt, but they should also keep in mind that without the presidency or the Senate, there is ****-all they can do. And if part of what they do is oppose their own party, it's not gonna benefit anyone but Republicans.

On that at the moment I agree with you....I do believe there is a little of believing her own hype going on at present...We shall see if Nancy can reel her in...

Maybe so, maybe not, but it sure wasn't any kind of landslide across the nation as was predicted....Remember, Democrats failed to take the Senate, so all of this chaos that Democrats in the house are doing, ultimately goes nowhere going forward...

Because of that, I don't think the fiery new Democrats should be feeling that they personally have a mandate. I mean, they should represent their district, no doubt, but they should also keep in mind that without the presidency or the Senate, there is ****-all they can do.

Yep, and we will see if seasoned Democrat operatives in the party can settle them down...

And if part of what they do is oppose their own party, it's not gonna benefit anyone but Republicans.

Yep, kind of like when Republican's do it to their own party, and liberals in here call them "real Republican's" or "moderate", or "rational".... It ain't no fun brother....

Borrow and spend more seems to be the plan.

I'm not sure what that has to do with taxing the wealthy? So back to the topic I replied to:

According to the facts I could find, the USA appears to be shifting towards all the wealth for the favoured few.

The federal government does not tax wealth - it taxes income.

Psst, but the implication is that if you're making enormous incomes, and not taxed much, you will over time become wealthy and have more power than ttwtt78640 to shape national politics in your favor.

Quite true, thus legal bribes (aka campaign contributions) seem to result a federal income tax code in which the richest pay lower effective tax rates than the not so rich do.
