I believe we can...but first, our extremes, on both ends of the spectrum, need to STFU, and stop trying to act American. We're not, and we'll never be. Thank God! (Sorry American friends, just two Canucks chatting here, we still love you)
We need to calm the rhetoric down to boring old Canadian politics - the kind that actually gets stuff done without ripping the country in half. We need to compromise. We need to understand that younger generations are taking over, and deciding where this country will go. If that means building a more compassionate, tolerant, anti-asshole societal philosophy, well...so be it. You guys had your chance, it wasn't great, it wasn't terrible, and I'm sure the same thing will be said about my generation, and every generation after me - which is fine, so long as they also say we were uniquely Canadian, which was never a fixed position, but rather an approach.
We may need a change, but we do not need a regression, nor do we need to plagiarize the catastrophes of other nations. We're more than capable of creating our own. I'll stand by Trudeau, girlie man socks and all, until a better option comes along. I don't see one yet, my friend.
But I'm all about your wife's beer.
We'll trade you Trump for the guy with the girlie socks. We'll even toss in Sidney Crosby and Justin Bieber to sweeten the deal.
