One could just as easily turn around and say that marrying a rich philandering asshole is a more time honored way of slutting your way to the top.

Yup...we have different standards. And while I wouldn't identify as a "Nationalist", given all the baggage that term drags along with it, I would call anyone a damn liar if they suggested for a moment I didn't love my country, ahead of all others, at least as much as you do. I guess we'll find out soon enough if I'm in the majority, or you are, in terms of what direction this country goes. Gotta love an election year. ;)

I guess I just don't understand why a self proclaimed nationalist would feel the need to import America's worst political traits. Canadian conservatism has only resembled American conservatism very recently. It used to be a much better version of itself. I often think that the greatest threat to our Canadian identity isn't our immigration rate, but rather some our conservatives fever to emulate the worst of America's right. In creating that kind of environment in our country, they, in my eyes, are the biggest traitors and sell outs we have.

But we've had this chat before. And somehow I think we'd still have a good time sharing a beer around a fire. So, at least for now, Canada isn't dead. Thank God for that.

No, but there is a very vocal sub demographic that wishes there were. Small but mouthy, as it were. If we start moving right as a country, under the current iteration of the Conservative party, I think we're a ways off from relaxing. Get rid of the populists, the fear mongers, and the low class assholes, and I'll consider voting for them again.

Honestly, I have no idea who I'll vote for this time around...probably the Liberals, but ultimately whoever looks like they have the better chance of beating the CPC. I won't be as happy to do so as last time around. I'll give you a rare concession and admit that Trudeau has been disappointing on some fronts. Great on others, but definitely frustrating and disappointing on some.

But I'd take a lifetime of him, over the current CPC.

I never hated any politician who I oppose, and I never hated any entertainer whose craft I abhor. I think Ozzy Osbourne's music sucks. I think he's repulsive to look at. Does that mean I hate him?

I'm disgusted by the comments about Harris. Disgusted. Why are people so interested in everyone else's sex life?

He also states,

I believe we can...but first, our extremes, on both ends of the spectrum, need to STFU, and stop trying to act American. We're not, and we'll never be. Thank God! (Sorry American friends, just two Canucks chatting here, we still love you)

We need to calm the rhetoric down to boring old Canadian politics - the kind that actually gets stuff done without ripping the country in half. We need to compromise. We need to understand that younger generations are taking over, and deciding where this country will go. If that means building a more compassionate, tolerant, anti-asshole societal philosophy, well...so be it. You guys had your chance, it wasn't great, it wasn't terrible, and I'm sure the same thing will be said about my generation, and every generation after me - which is fine, so long as they also say we were uniquely Canadian, which was never a fixed position, but rather an approach.

We may need a change, but we do not need a regression, nor do we need to plagiarize the catastrophes of other nations. We're more than capable of creating our own. ;) I'll stand by Trudeau, girlie man socks and all, until a better option comes along. I don't see one yet, my friend.
