Bernie Sanders Enters 2020 Presidential Campaign, No Longer An Underdog

Bernie will not get the nomination. His followers will stay home in November, just like they did before.

A third party candidate will peel off more votes from the dem nominee.

Trump will be re-elected.

What has led you to this conclusion? The only people who seem upset with leftward policies seem to be the uber-wealthy Blue Dog billionaire class and corporate media elites. One of these is Schultz's campaign manager IIRC.

Won't happen.

He only needs about 5%, and the Democrats are cooked. Ralph Nader all over again.

50% approval rating and looking at a field of socialist misfits.

He's probably laughing because he can't believe he's going to win again.

There is one socialist that has declared his candidacy that I'm aware of, and that's Bernie Sanders. Who are the rest of these "socialist misfits" who are running?

If I had my way, I'd ban all mention of race from political parties and news outlets. Why are there 2 front page articles on CNN steeped in the fetid stench of race? Ban it.

Without race, the Democrats have no platform. It's their lifeblood.

Meh I do think the DNC wants a corporate style dem to run against Trump. The last thing they want is for Trump to get up there and scream "socialism" at rallies for the next year. I think thats why we saw Kamala Harris and Amy Klobuchar both walk back their healthcare plans to make them more moderate. They cant come out looking "too far left." It will be interesting to see if Democratic voters feel the same.

If I remember the 2016 polling, Sanders was beating Trump in the polls.

The polls proved very accurate and in another universe Sanders won the election.

One thing I really like about Bernie is of the candidates so far he is the most pro gun. He is unlikely to do a knee jerk reaction.

They can actually prevent Bernie from running. As I recall they put rules in place so this couldnt happen again. Now it is, they have an indie running without being a democrat. What do they do? Tell him he cant run? What a mess that would be. Also will Ocasio Cortez endorse him again as she did in 2016? She could make a huge difference for Sanders. Remember the primary voters are typically much further left that the general voter.

Is that what made the Republicans in our wonderful state vote for Trump in our 2016 primary - they were all leftists? I mean, I know they were idiots. But left leaning too?

I actually think Bernie won the state for 2 reasons - he's our neighbor to the west, and I really believe the state is/was Clinton weary. Remember how poorly his son fared in the primary for Carol Shea Porter's seat?

And he is a democratic socialist.

In the history of the world the most successful economies were socialist/democratic hybrids, which whether people like it or not is exactly what America is.

Maybe it's time to have a president that understands that...

Not to be a Debbie Downer for the Bernie fans, but what I think is going to work against him the most is his age. I'm not bigoted about people's ages by any means. But he was old in 2016 and he'll be older bet year. Just my opinion. The Democrats need someone young, fresh, attractive and dynamic. Like Obama and JFK.

Anyone who remembers how the 2016 general election went down with any measure of objective clarity should give extreme pause to entertaining the thought of an establishment corporatist going up against Trump a second time.

It's not just his age.

It's also his "free" **** philosophy.

Elections are decided in the suburbs. People in the suburbs know there is no such thing as free ****, it will scare them away.

I am a die hard never Trumper and I literally don't know what I would do if a far left candidate comes out of the Dems. Like Bernie.

They use that, and "vote us into office, we'll raise other people's taxes and give the money to you!" Of course, it all goes to the government instead.

I re-read the post and apologize. Still sounds like you're more worried about stopping Sanders than beating Trump though.

No... I detest Trump, his ideas, policies and his gangster mentality and his hoodlum conduct.

I just know that Sander's is not the best choice for us as a nation. I'm ok with the fact Sander's garners the support of young people and awakned some who had not been politically concerned. He unfortunately did not know how to make the best beneficial usage of his followings, He was never going to be elected, BUT...He could have gained some position in a Democratic Administration for his key points as a system player for those key things, such as education reforms and medical... We already have Elizabeth Warren who is far more effective than Sander's when it comes to dealing with Wall Street, Banks and elements within the Financial and the big corporate impacts upon Consumers.

People have to know where they function best... everyone with an Idea is not the type nor the fit for Top Leadership. There too is a certain decorum of manner, that has been historical for Presidential Persons, and how they communicate. Sander's does not have it in the way that fits or works on the Global States, nor fully on the Domestic States. His presence is like a hunched over whiny old man.... who thinks he can turn American 180 in a day.... That's just not the nature of the nation. We Turn through process and those processes have and require "steps" and "stages". It's fine to give people the "lofty dream of future ideals", but we have to deal with what "can" be done within a Term... and if we understand the nature of the "term"... and the nature of the Congressional Make Up... Then that should indicate the nature of challenges that exist.
We have a mass of work to do before society can realize the Loft Left Goals of the Sanders Train's Destination. We have a mass of Right Wing Judges Across the country making precedence everyday that will take years if not decades to change, we have a SCOTUS that has a Right Lean, and we have a nations of Governors that are still clinging to Right Wing Confederate Ideology, then when we realize our State, County and Metro's in every county has a broad mix of Right Winger's from County Commissioners, to City Council Members.

Yes, it would be great if we could again, have "no cost community colleges" and the "1960's low cost of State Universities"... but that is not going to happen in the flip and spin of a moment. Community Colleges may be far more likely to bring down cost, but State Universities have gotten a taste of "money", they will not give that up willingly, and the Top Universities, know as long as State University keep their cost up, the Top Universities and Ivy League can raise their cost even higher.

The answer to education for America today... may well be not to try and point everyone toward University, but Point, Lead and Guide People to "VOCATIONAL AND TECHNICAL Training Programs... Why? Because 'we have the internet" which information is readily retrievable to anyone with a cell phone or internet connections, so... that means, people can update their knowledge base in an instant, and they can "collaborate", research and find the resolves that others have achieved, which enhances their ability to perform and function. in some fields, people can find support data, instructional video and innovative advances right through the internet and the associations they can build via the internet. So... our future trajectory is today, different... Therefore Technical and Vocation Training combined with the Internet can give a Tech/Voc Certified person the capability to a level that once only Bachelors and Masters Study programs had a lock on. Today, we have the high standard feeder system schools who have high school students who function today, at what use to be a AA degree levels, and some of the more advanced ones at bachelors degree level.
So... we need to change the standard, because the dynamics have changed... and not base everyone on a "university degree", because today, most degree are used as nothing more than a "get a job certificate", because most don't work anywhere close to the field they degree is claimed.

LOL, real Putin stuff, you should get a merit badge from the KGB in the mail.

I don't see Bernie getting the nomination anyway. At this point, I don't even see him taking New Hampshire again.

Sanders time has come and gone. That is sad for America since he would have beaten Trump and been a great president. But the Democratic Party needs to build around a younger figure in much the same way they did in 1960 with John Kennedy.

Bernie Sanders/Stacey Abrams ticket.

Anyone of reason knows this.

Our budget is OUT OF CONTROL and not DEm or Republican speaks to it.

All the self proclaimed conservatives that post here we never hear a peep from. (phony ****s)

All I hear from both sides is a divide on what to spend more on.

This country is doomed.

He's late to the party, much too late.

Sanders is like a bad joke that keeps resurfacing. From one old man to another Bernie, it is time to put dreams to rest. You scare more than half the nation, few could be more decisive than you. You run, Trump wins without campaigning.

Too late? It's almost a full two years until the election.
