From NBC News....

After two years and 200 interviews, the Senate Intelligence Committee is approaching the end of its investigation into the 2016 election, having uncovered no direct evidence of a conspiracy between the Trump campaign and Russia, according to both Democrats and Republicans on the committee.

But investigators disagree along party lines when it comes to the implications of a pattern of contacts they have documented between Trump associates and Russians — contacts that occurred before, during and after Russian intelligence operatives were seeking to help Donald Trump by leaking hacked Democratic emails and attacking his opponent, Hillary Clinton, on social media.

"If we write a report based upon the facts that we have, then we don't have anything that would suggest there was collusion by the Trump campaign and Russia," said Sen. Richard Burr, R-N.C., the chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee, in an interview with CBS News last week.

Burr was careful to note that more facts may yet be uncovered, but he also made clear that the investigation was nearing an end.

"We know we're getting to the bottom of the barrel because there're not new questions that we're searching for answers to," Burr said.

Democratic Senate investigators who spoke to NBC News on condition of anonymity did not dispute Burr's characterizations, but said they lacked context.

"We were never going to find a contract signed in blood saying, 'Hey Vlad, we're going to collude,'" one Democratic aide said.

........

Democrats and other Trump opponents have long believed that special counsel Robert Mueller and Congressional investigators would unearth new and more explosive evidence of Trump campaign coordination with Russians. Mueller may yet do so, although Justice Department and Congressional sources say they believe that he, too, is close to wrapping up his investigation.

"Senator Richard Burr, The Chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee, just announced that after almost two years, more than two hundred interviews, and thousands of documents, they have found NO COLLUSION BETWEEN TRUMP AND RUSSIA!" Trump tweeted Sunday. "Is anybody really surprised by this?"

Normal, rational thinking people are also not surprised by this, either. I guess Trump was right; this was all a witch hunt, and his opponents will just have to find something else to bitch about until the election gets underway. Between Trump's rising job approval ratings, indefensible new green deals, asinine proposals for a 70% tax rate, calls to abolish ICE and siding with illegal aliens over their own countrymen, it's probably safe to say that Trump will probably win re-election.

All that is left is deciding a new campaign slogan...

They will dismiss it because the Senate has a GOP majority and therefore is acting with bias while clinging to what the Dems try to do in the House which is totally unbiased.

Mueller is close to closing his investigation. The Senate has other nonsense to consume their time. If the Dems wants to pursue a different angle on this, they're more than welcome.

Republicans control the Senate.

Republicans are going to defend their president to the death.

This report is as useful as used toilet paper.

NEXT!

From my perspective it's about the findings of the investigations; I didn't have a hope they would or wouldn't implicate Trump. It was important to know if there was indeed any kind of conspiracy between a presidential candidate and a foreign government.

Like Climate Change, Biology and Economics, the evidence doesn't really care if you're a Democrat or Republican.

Reality has a well-known liberal bias. ;)

Where it gets interesting is the extent of Mueller's findings and if they lead in the direction of finding the type of crimes indicating collusion between the Trump team and the Russian government. If in the end there's nothing directly linking the two, the Democrats will justify the "witch hunt" sentiment if they continue to try connecting dots.

"If we write a report based upon the facts that we have, then we don't have anything "

That is the salient point but it wont matter.

The concept of fairness and constitutionalism will be beyond the comprehension of those engrossed in the politics of hatred.

"Progressive history" is not actually history.

History needs no modifiers just like crime or justice.

That explain why the left keeps losing...

So we should join you guys in peddling lies and conspiracy theories as national policy. Got it.

The idea is that Trump's contacts would, if offered, try to accept help from Russian officials.

Who needs Ken Dilanian to assess the credibility of the GOP-dominated Senate Intelligence Committee?

I await the conclusion of Mueller's investigation.

The bigger news, to me, comes in the prospect of a bipartisan agreement to keep the federal government funded. I would think this news would add a favorable bump to today's stock market!

The Republican-controlled Senate, headed by a corrupt Senate Majority Leader didn’t find collusion or a crime against a President that they get down on their knees and lick the boots of every single day? Color me SHOCKED!

In other news, water is wet.

You mean like the blue wave in the midterms? That kind of losing?

Democrats only picked up 40 seats vs 55+ gained when Republicans were out of power during the last two decades.

Democrats also failed to capture the Senate.

The term "Blue Wave" is a bit of a misnomer. But let's, for the sake of your argument, pretend that it isn't. Are you trying to suggest that the party out of power is never supposed to win the back the Congress?

If there is no evidence of collusion then the best outcome for Trump is for this thing to drag out into campaign season. He will get a nice approval rating boost when its officially declared no collusion. Best for him to happen in early 2020.

This is a conspiracy but not a theory. Any moron on the right who thinks the evidence exonerate Trump is living a fantasy. There is more evidence of Trumps collusion with Russia than there is for the existence of Jesus. Real, contemporary allies of this bloated control freak are being arrested for lying about their roles in the theft of the election, but he didn't know anything? Right *wink*

It's a testament to the magical thinking of conservative's that they can both believe he's a stable genius AND he didn't know what was being done in his name.

After witnessing Nixon''s deceit and Reagan's subsequent memory loss when questioned about his role in terrorism, not to mention W''s constant ****ting on the constitution, it's clear that the GOP has chosen denial to replace responsibility. I firmly believe that Trump is the lowest primate ever to receive unquestioning conservative support, and that's saying something. They are a group who use indignation to mask their wilful ignorance and get more angry at being caught than most of their victims at being victimized. Indeed, they exemplify the label "shameless douche bags".

With all due respect, the completely unbiased NBC piece DOES disclose that Democrats HAVE discovered evidence of collusion -
"Donald Trump Jr. made clear in his messages that he was willing to accept help from the Russians," one Democratic Senate investigator said. "Trump publicly urged the Russians to find Clinton's missing emails."

If Trump talking to Russians during his campaign, after the election, prior to his inauguration and after his inauguration isn't proof of collusion then nothing is. Before Trump we'd have NEVER seen a candidate for that office or one who was successfully elected to that office talk to Russians.

I see two things happening here:

1. The House...and now the Senate...have not found any evidence of conspiracy or collusion with Russia. Mueller is winding down his investigation and it's unlikely he'll find anything.

2. The Dem House has outlined their course of investigations for the next months, and they don't include Russia.

So...the Trump/Russia nonsense has run its course and it's being abandoned. The media is preparing their useful idiots for the let down. When this nonsense is over, the media will switch to the new witch hunt...the House...and the show will go on.

But...what Trump haters keep ignoring is this: There will soon be a new sheriff in the DOJ. Oh...wait...don't worry, he won't mess with Mueller. But, as soon as Mueller is done, he'll turn the DOJ/FBI sights on the corruption from the Obama administration. So...while the Dem House is wasting their time trying to drum up spin, speculation, hyperbole and innuendo about Trump, Barr will be passing out indictments. The media won't dare ignore those indictments.

We'll just have to wait and see how the voters feel about it all. Will they believe the Dem nonsense? Will they ignore what the Justice Department is doing? If so, Trump will lose. If not...we'll have Trump till Jan. 2025.

And then you have the Democrats filled with deranged leftists using any kind of political attack/corruption to attack the president too.
