Fact check: Trump claims a wall made El Paso safe. Data shows otherwise.

Fewer people will hear about the corrections than the initial false info. That is why any politician tells blatant lies. Trump just hasn't learned the importance of moderation like other politicians have.

So if El Paso was not a dangerous city why was a wall constructed long before Trump became President?

That big beautiful wall that will keep out your future Democratic voters.

Nah, the Democrats are getting their new voters from Independents and Republicans that have left the party. BTW, did you see the 2018 election results? Just keep peeing on the Constitution and the Democrats will be fine for decade.

Meanwhile I will just keep thinking of ingenious ways for the new Democratic president to use his'her new emergency powers after Trump sets this precedent. Maybe AoC has some ideas?

If it makes you feel better, we can call it a fence or hedgerow.

Yes. It would make me feel better if you used facts and called it a fence.

No clue. Maybe politics? Facts are facts though, so It's not an "if".

You win. We'll call it a giant assed "Fence".

I don't think you realize how despondent we'll be over this.

Hey, it's not my fault you're fine with massively broken promises and have low standards.

Since then, his idea has shifted from a 1,000-mile, solid concrete wall, to a few hundred miles of "steel slats."

Trump border wall: The president's evolving concept of a barrier

Yikes. And that's IF he gets all of the funding (he won't). So you're getting short changed either way.

He lied to you about that. Like he lied do you about El Paso crime.

Maybe. If these folks have anything to do with it. If they can get land owners to go for it and use their own money, who am I......

Fundraiser by Brian Kolfage : We The People Will Build the Wall
Please.

1) Citizens cannot actually contribute funds to whatever specific federal projects they want. Citizens can only contribute when Congress passes laws allowing those types of contributions, e.g. National Parks Foundation.

2) "The Wall" will cost $15 to $20 billion. That project raised $20 million in a month, most of it in the first week. I.e. the project raised enough to buy maybe a mile of fencing.

3) Lots of land owners are not willing to sell.

Sorry, but this xenophobic pipe dream is not going to happen.

If it helps you sleep at night, yes a fence.

A big beautiful steel slat fence.

A nice little start.... 6 miles of a beautiful wall!

Border wall: Texas contractor SLSCO wins $145 million contract to build 6-mile wall - CBS News

MCALLEN, Texas — Federal authorities have awarded a $145 million contract to a Texas company to build 6 miles of wall along the U.S.-Mexico border in the Rio Grande Valley. U.S. Customs and Border Patrol said Friday that SLSCO will begin construction of an 18-foot reinforced concrete levee wall in February in the agency's McAllen Station region. The company will also increase the height of existing fences.

It will be the first section of President Trump's border barriers in the Rio Grande Valley, the busiest corridor for illegal crossings.

The government recently completed construction of a 2-mile, 30-foot tall section of fencing along the border in California.

You mean The fence here and there. Well, more or less there.

It is almost done. Did you not watch the rally today? FINISH THE WALL!!!

Also, Trump is the greatest president of all!! Except maybe Lincoln.

I guess the best response from a Democrat president would be to declare "National emergency" to address global warming. And since there will be no requirement to establish reasonable connections between facts and presidential wants, it would be okay for him to argue that Trump's wall contributes to global warming and get funds to tear it down...(sarcasm intended).

Yep, and that is why republicans don’t want him to declare a “Trumped up” emergency. Opens the door to future presidents’ whimsical fantasies to grab money.

That's not correct. I've seen pictures of those metal slats and they are big, bold and beautiful.

Should keep out tons of illegal Democratic voters.

Yes, the slats are just wide enough to pass the drugs through...

El Paso has never been dangerous. Cuidad Juarez is. Thus the need for the wall, and other measures to keep the bad guys in Mexico. But, yes, the wall was necessary and built before Trump.

It won’t happen but Trump will claim it did, and that it is his wall. Probably will put the Trump logo on it.

Because there was a gang war on the border, that is over now.

As always trump thinks he knows more than the people that deal with things every day.

He rolls into El Paso for a couple hours and calls the mayor a liar because the mayor actually was aware of facts that didn't back up trumps bull****...

And unlike illegals, there are actual statistics and facts that show it is a problem

It was not necessary, the gang war was over and crime began to dive two years before the El Paso barrier was completed...

It won’t happen but Trump will claim it did, and that it is his wall. Probably will put the Trump logo on it.

That is his only reason he wants it so bad.

So many properties that he had nothing to do with other than his name on them have been getting rid of the trump name.

He wants something with his name on it. Doesn't matter to him if it is in Texas or Moscow...

Yep, Trump continues to parrot what his speech writers provide.

Actually, Trump got his El Paso disinformation from Texas GOP Attorney General Ken Paxon when Trump visited McAllen, Texas.

And typically, because the disinformation was exactly what he wanted to hear, Trump didn't bother to fact-check Paxon's malarkey.

Your link provided the answer - the mayor of El Paso believes that Trump was given misinformation.

Wouldn't you guess that the White House might employ an earnest intern or something to do the same fact checking you and I can do? If facts matter, I mean.

Yes, the slats are just wide enough to pass the drugs through...

After nearly 30 years as a structural Ironworker I can safely say I could climb one of those slat walls in a handful of seconds. If you're in decent condition it'd take me all of ten minutes to teach you to climb it, too.

Perhaps you're having an off night. I agreed Trump was wrong about El Paso. Was the first thing I said.

But the Wall is still going up and no amount of whining or hair pulling is going to stop it.

not according to the deal reached in the Senate....
