Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez Releases Green New Deal Outline

Well, if the nonsense in that little manifesto is your cup of tea, so be it.

Some pretty good ideas in there, endorsed by many others. What plan for dealing with climate change is your cup of tea?

One that isn't simply a watermelon (green on the outside, red on the inside).

I saw this somewhere else and thought it was pretty amusing.

"Having an AOC moment will replace the "blonde" jokes"

She means well but like most who live in the world of unicorns and fairy tales, she could use a little ritalin to settle down.

I have watched a lot of her interviews mostly because she is pretty hot. What I have noticed is that she compares apples to oranges and spews misinformation. How many times has what she said been proven false and yet she still has supporters. I've noticed those who interview her often rolling their eyes as if to wonder "what the, huh! She comes off as someone with the brain the size of a squirrel brain. She is spunky but very stupid!

That being said, could you ask for a greater gift to Trump for 2020?

Must be a reading comprehension fail on your part then.

I think it's on your part.

Follow the thread.

Her spokesman said to Tucker Carlson that the FAQ in question is "doctored."

She retweeted that segment.

She followed that up with a tweet of her own repeating the "doctored" bit.

This is all in the thread.

So now the plan has been removed from her website, and she is claiming that it was planted there by the GOP to begin with.

This bitch lacks integrity more than she does basic education.

Scary.

Folks love tax plans that lower their own taxes and/or raise taxes on someone else.

Perhaps. And this wraps it up pretty neatly with a bow on top...

Also, I'm not sure how much revenue we get from taxing income above 10 mil. Can't imagine it's the 10s of trillions required to reach these "goals".

Maybe we can just find what closet the DOD left that 21 trillion in. Surely it's still just laying around to be found and spent.

It's where that money is spent that generates the revenue not just the initial tax itself. Macro economics.

You are simply too focused on those mere details - AOC will soon have months of experience designing systems to run national socialist economies.

You are generally fairly even-keeled so... National socialist? Really?

Yet, look at the responses from who would be her political opposition.

Any time AOC is mentioned the opposition to her in this forum is generally one of these two:

  1. Call her stupid and/or naive
  2. Play the irrelevant hyperbole game

They just can't seem to refute her or her policies straight up.

My bad, I didn't realize you were playing a game.

And it looks like you lost.

Of course, but we are talking about lots of major money losers all at once. Even if we do see a positive ROI, it will take a decade minimum. The initial money won't be close to enough to fund stage 1, so we have to borrow trillions using this proposal as a method of paying back.

Not only do we lose money at an astonishing rate, but our credit rating hits a worldwide low.

It is a framework. The rollout won't being as dire as you are predicting. If it ever gets rolled out at all. It's a wonder how we ever passed anything with such pervasive pessimism in America.

That's because she is stupid and naive!

She is who the true silent majority support. Overall independents outnumber Dems and pubs. Independent does not mean centrist it simply means you don't like either party.

However polling has shown steady support among independents forever for Bernie Sanders platform.

If the dims ignore that we get Trump 2.0. if they support it the Republicans lose, horribly.

The question is, are the Dems going to be brave, or be centrist? Pundits are saying they can't win without a centrist. They're wrong. We just had a centrist run as a democrat and look what happened.

Of course faux news is ramping up the assault on progs. Could be because they know what I just posted is completely true.

Does/should the use of the term highlighted automatically put you in the lemming category??

It's not really even a framework. There isn't enough of an outline to really build on. More a resolution or manifesto. The most that will ever come of it is campaign statements... "I introduced the new green deal!".

Of course, they are winning - they supply the voters with their choices of candidates to choose among. Some think that when they vote "D" or "R" that they are getting a candidate not pre-selected by the winners.

Lol, whatever you say, Adolph Stalin.

Wow!

One that isn't simply a watermelon (green on the outside, red on the inside).

That watermelon analogy was used in El Salvador by death squad leader Roberto d'Abuisson to describe the Christian Democrats (whose color was green) in his country in the 1970s-80s. Red-baiting is sooo last century.

Face it: we have adopted socialist principles since Roosevelt... Teddy, not Franklin. Paranoia strikes deep.

Yeah, well, a government takeover of the entire economy to forcefully reshape it to service a lengthy long-standing lefty-"progressive" wish list, significant portions of which having nothing real to do with "climate change," is considerably more red than anything which has ever been attempted here.

But like I said, if you're fine with it, so be it.

Her top adviser doesn't even know what this new Green deal is about.

A wish list is exactly what it is, an outline of directions to go that the more liberal part of the Democratic Party tends towards, based on the problems it believes the country faces. No different in kind than what the more conservative part of the GOP might push for. No more communist than the republicans are fascist. Neither group will get everything they ask for.
