Next time keep your assumptions in check and you won't waste other posters' time.

Says the person trying to figure out irrelevant information that no one cares about.

Re: [W:21]Teens in MAGA Hats Harassed a Native American Vietnam Veteran

Thank for providing the whole video. This proves that the 'lead teen' that the media wants to demonize didn't seek out the native. It's unfortunate that the press reports on these incidents - it heightens racial animosity and fear, while cementing Indians as a minority.

It would be interesting to find out how many people appalled at the MAGA hat kids are supportive of keeping the Indian reservation system intact - keeping this "Elder" in his own little world apart from the rest of us based on his race.

Now that the full context of the incident is known, in retrospect I'm embarrassed for falling into the trap of discussing a racial event based on a biased propaganda piece by the MSM. Much like emails from Nigerian barristers, I must assume that race-based, race-baiting pieces from the MSM are full of crap until proven otherwise.

Shame on me. In effect, I answered the barrister's email and would be happy to provide financial details in exchange for a 15% stake in their recently deceased prince's fortune.

Re: [W:21]Teens in MAGA Hats Harassed a Native American Vietnam Veteran

Other students made way for the Elder to proceed.
This young fellow did not.
Everyone knew it was being videoed.

So the young fellow decides to stand his ground in front of an old man when he could have easily made way.
He states they were not there to cause any trouble
And tops it of with a smirk that did him no favors.
The opposite occurred, he looked like a smug young asshole

That's another question I have. Why not just move out of his way? This isn't the first time, and it won't be the last time, in that young man's life that moving out of someone's way is the right thing to do.

If he was so terrified about having his organs harvested, as I was told by cpwill, why do what he did? Why smirk in some old guy's face?

It doesn't appear that the kid was scared of anything, or intimidated, or felt abused. I'm not saying he was wrong. I'm saying that he didn't make an effort to be non-confrontational either. I did catch a few minutes of the news and the videos and I don't understand the tomahawk chops at all. Were they trying to be cute? Funny? Clever? That was pretty obnoxious.

Meh. This is a weird story all around.

Re: [W:21]Teens in MAGA Hats Harassed a Native American Vietnam Veteran

 it can be, but what I was referring to there was the racial epithets, threats, and accusations being hurled at them by the black hebrew israelite (BHI) protestors who were yelling at them that they were racists, bigots, faggots, incest kids, that the black student in the group was going to be killed and have his organs harvested, etc. The kids responded with school chants. Then a guy leads a group into their midst beating a drum, stands there doing that for a few minutes, leaves, and suddenly they are the racists, instead of the actual racists screaming actually racist things.

I was reading this kids letter last night about the verbal attacks being hurled at them. Now I don't know if he was being honest about one of the students asking one of the chaperones if they could start yelling school chants back at that group or not. It seemed out of place other than trying to give the impression they would never do something without permission. But I seriously question what adult chaperone would think it was a good idea to grant permission for these boys to get their testosterone hyped up in that kind of situation? As the adult wouldn't it have been far wiser to say no, you need to keep moving and not add to an already tense atmosphere? Go wait for the bus.

And second, social media is hardly new. Those kids were born into the world in a time where people's lives are destroyed by foolish comments or actions that go viral. Were these kids oblivious that their actions and faces could end up viral? This wasn't a homecoming football game.

And then as should have been expected they do end up across the www and the face off boy's identity is revealed so he and his family are under fire. So I question again, what chaperone let this reach the level it did instead of moving the boys away from the area? I thought the job of a chaperone is to watch over the group and be the voice of reason. Had they been this situation wouldn't be a discussion.

Re: [W:21]Teens in MAGA Hats Harassed a Native American Vietnam Veteran

Tres, I know you won't respond to my post here, but I am going to address yours anyway in the off miracle that you have the guts to engage in a true back and forth, which I suspect is also beyond your current ability to do...

I remember when right wingers (real ones, like me) respected veterans.

Every American should respect veterans for their sacrifice in serving their nation. It has nothing to do with how YOU as an individual characterize your fellow American's political views, and your new found disagreement with those you used to have a mutual respect for their arguments in here. To suggest such is so dishonest, and demonstrates your willingness to use these fine individuals as a pawn in your pathetic arguments....You call that respect?

Today's right wing (Trump fans) don't respect veterans. Like McCain, and Mueller, and others.

So, in your mind the fact that these men served their country, and in McCain's case was a POW, absolves them of any actions hence forth that they took with their lives? So, when McCain was swindling American's through the Keating 5 scandal, or when Muller was rubber stamping Uranium one, and turning blind eyes to the corruption in that deal they are absolved because, hey, they spoke out against Trump, and you hate Trump as well so they must be saints, right? What a lazy way to look at things.

But they do a great job of pretending they do when Trump tells them "Must be outraged at the sons of bitches who play football kneeling quietly in protest because it's mean to our veterans".

I wore this countries uniform Tres, did you? I understand what the protests had to symbolize, even if those protesting didn't. I wasn't a fan of seeing it, but recognized their right to do so...But, the NFL doesn't have the right to my viewership, or money for tickets and merchandise....I am glad to see that this year, the protesting is all but non existent, and the fans will return....I am a big fan of the "shut up and sing" doctrine....

They don't even know how absurd they look.

Who, the kneeling protesters? I agree.

Anyhow, I can see the Trump fans are tinkling their panties over today's faux outrage.

The only one "tinkling her panties" in here seems to be you...And while we are on it, I notice that a good many of your postings have to do with that phrase "tinkling their panties"... Are you subconsciously telling us some shameful, and very personal thing about an incontinence issue you're having? Because to me that is just TMI, if that is the case...If not you should really try to make your point without trying to resort to outrageous, and stupid tactics like that...

I suppose it's a good distraction from Trump pushing the GOP further and further into the abyss with every day.

Not to worry there young lady...The GOP will survive, and carry on, just as the country will survive and carry on, regardless of any one of detractors like yourself are "tinkling their panties" or not....:peace:

Well their little chop act does show disrespect. Wonder what else was not captured on video?

The elder could have walked around as well.

But in the end the kid was probably taught/told to respect your elders, if so, why did he not do that?
He IMHO decided to stand looking like a smug self entitled punk confronting an old man.
I get the feeling his parents are not impressed.

NO, NO, and NO....

the tomahawk chop is a staple in sporting events...Atlanta braves, Florida State Seminoles, last night at the KC Chiefs game all could be heard singing that chant, and motioning that chop....

What else was not captured on that video, was that the elder approached the group, NOT the other way around as some of the original articles tried to depict the incident, and when the kid wouldn't cede his ground, even when the the elder guy was moving his drum mere centimeters from the kids face, trying to intimidate him, and incite and incident, the kid stood his ground, and smiled back...He should be commended....

Re: [W:21]Teens in MAGA Hats Harassed a Native American Vietnam Veteran

Since this is just Faux Outrage of the worst sort...

https://townhall.com/tipsheet/guybe...ive-american-vet-narrative-was-false-n2539332

On Saturday, a short video rocketed across social media that appeared to show a group of male students from Covington Catholic High School in Kentucky mocking and intimidating an elderly Native American man as he peacefully beat his drum amid the nasty din. Many of the students, who were visiting Washington, DC for the annual March for Life, were wearing red 'Make America Great Again' baseball caps, and were alleged to have chanted things like "build the wall' at their target -- who also turned out to be a US military veteran. Based on the early evidence and claims, it looked like an ugly display of youthful intolerance and bullying. Many who saw the initial tweets condemned the boys' conduct, including myself.

In the hours and days since those first snapshots of the encounter made the rounds, however, it has become crystal clear that the original narrative was hugely misleading. Additional videos from different angles began to emerge, proving that the students did not swarm or try to block the drum-toting man; rather, he proactively approached them. We also learned that a small group of African-American men were hurling racial and homophobic insults at the boys, singling out the small number of non-white students in the group for especially grotesque abuse (including creepily telling a black student that his classmates would harvest his organs). The drum-beating Native American 'victim' was accompanied by someone who screamed at the students to "go back to Europe," profanely hectoring them over 'stolen' land. And the drummer himself acted strangely, choosing to approach one of the students wearing a red hat to play his instrument within inches of the boy's face.
Shouldn't everyone be more outraged that the news media fed them a load of bullsnot? That these kids were wrongly attacked for something they didn't do? That their parents are having their jobs threatened? That these kids are being Doxxed based on LIES?

That's the real outrage here.

Re: [W:21]Teens in MAGA Hats Harassed a Native American Vietnam Veteran

Look Rob, I am not in support of the kid smirking at the elder, but it takes two to tango, and the elder escalated the situation as well...The young man didn't say anything to him, didn't touch him, didn't do anything but stand there and while I don't approve of the smirk he displayed, the Indian elder had a part to play in this as well...It's not a deflection to compare similar situations in different protests...That is only you trying to dismiss that there are jerks on both sides of politics today...

Actually, it was started by some asshat black nationalists hurling insults at the kids. The native guy was drumming and chanting a song that was anti-violence to calm it. And I do detest jerks on both sides... but the "both sides do it" is a typical right wing tactic to white-wash their flaws without ever having to acknowledge their miss steps.

The tomahawk chop thing was definitely disrespect. And it's obvious to anyone who isn't stupid that they were doing it because the man is a Native American.

I taught my kids to move out of the way for adults. Maybe these kids parents' didn't teach them manners.

I think a lot of people in this story were wrong, personally. Let's not act like these kids were on their best behavior. They weren't. If I saw my kids doing that tomahawk chop thing at some American Indians I'd be pretty pissed at them.

So b aging a drum inches from the kids face was to calm him. Right.....:lamo

Faux outrage is faux outrage. The kids did nothing wrong, they were attacked verbally, they were confronted, you should be pissed the media lied and you bought it hook, line and sinker. You should be outraged there are people doxxing these kids, their parents, calling for these kids to not be employed as they get older, their parents fired. You should be hopping mad that a lie is forcing a false narrative.

You should be mad you're being used to fuel lies.

Re: [W:21]Teens in MAGA Hats Harassed a Native American Vietnam Veteran

So?

At the very least both the kids, and the Indian were both in the wrong....

Lol yeah, best way to calm down a situation is to wack a big stick into a drum literally 6 inches from someone's face. And we're supposed to buy this crap.

 the guy with a drum is his own actor, not a force of nature. He's the one who decided to walk into the crowd and try to take their space. A kid stands still and makes no gesture while smiling, and you declare the guy who initiated that as the good guy, and him the bad guy.

Pathetic.

Re: [W:21]Teens in MAGA Hats Harassed a Native American Vietnam Veteran

So after 62 pages have we yet come to the agreement

1) 4 Black instigators called white kids incest babies and future school shooters
2) Bunch of Teens gathering (in masses) And protesting wearing MAGA hats (so we know their affiliation)
3) A Teen comes face to face with a Veteran and Indian Elder which went on TV and stated that he knew he was getting in to the middle of kids that were angry at someone else. "And I put myself in a really dangerous situation, I put my self in front of that"
https://www.cnn.com/2019/01/21/us/maga-hat-teens-native-american-second-video/index.html (Fast forward to 1:58 - but watching the whole thing puts full context)

So.... Lets just say the actions of ALL parties were surely not our greatest moments, but was the initial report worth its weight in gold and attempt to create yet ANOTHER false narrative of "Teens, wearing MAGA hats and racism?"

Sad how far we have fallen.....The boy who cried wolf is getting worse..... The sad part is.... it will show the true colors of Extremist..... and it will TAKE the Masses of those that do NOT take the views of Extremest (BOTH Left and Right) to combat these "Fake news and False narratives"

Agreed, but that was missing from initial reports. Why do you think that was?

The native guy was drumming and chanting a song that was anti-violence to calm it.

Really? Because from what I saw, with the Indian walking up and getting in the kids space, and drumming at least a couple of times so close to the kids face, it sure looked as though he was trying to provoke the kid....

And I do detest jerks on both sides...

Good, I think we have always agreed on that....

but the "both sides do it" is a typical right wing tactic to white-wash their flaws without ever having to acknowledge their miss steps.

And using a statement like this is a typical left wing tactic to place all the blame of a situation on the right, instead of acknowledging their own missteps....See, I can do that too....;)
