The president doesn't have floor privileges in the House, only the Speaker can give those to him, or in this case take them away.

Not a fan of Trump or the way he handled this episode, but I would have thought that Speaker Pelosi would have postponed this trip on her own due to the state of the country.

He said he would be proud to shutdown the government, right in front of the press. It's his shutdown and no matter how many time you take a blowtorch to the facts, it will still be his shutdown to 57% of Americans.

Trump asked for $1.6 billion at the beginning of December and Dems gave it to him. The Senate Republicans passed the EXACT same bills McConnell passed a month ago that Pelosi is bringing up now, but then they and Trump changed their minds after Coulter told them to shut the government down.

Well, he shouldn't make grand promises he knows he can't keep. Democrats themselves were voted back in via landslide on a promise to fight Trump's border policies, so they have their own obligations to keep.

But here's question for ya': if he cares so much about this dumbass wall, why was he ready to sign the CR that lacked his $5.6 billion dollar demands, and why did Republicans pass that same CR just days before they changed their minds? And why didn't Trump push for a border security bill to come to the floor in either House, until Coulter and Lambaugh demanded he does so?

Easy, he didn't actually give two ****s about fulfilling his campaign promised, and figured he could once again get away with fooling you guys - which he almost did.

We disagree about border security and how it is best done, get over it like adults already.

The rest of the government has nothing to do with this dispute, and it is disgusting beyond words to continue to use its services and workers as bargaining chips to blackmail those who disagree to change their votes.

Certainly it's the president's prerogative to allow the use of military transport. It is only logical to postpose trips of this sort during a shutdown of government. Think of all the security needed for these Congress persons including Pelosi. Now if this is considered a childish counter punch, let's see how the Left will handle this. Whining doesn't become you.... especially when turn about is good for everyone concerned....

I wonder that too. If she DID plan such a trip and she wanted to make it on commercial flights she couldn't now. That's definitely something that should have been done privately instead of grandstanding it.
