Re: Razor burn: Gillette ad stirs online uproar
There are actually differences in the razors beyond just color. Blade angle, handle angle and materials used. I've researched (looked up on the internet) this, because I was curious why women's razors cost more than men's.
Women tend to shave in a shower, so they need different materials to handle the wetter environment. They also need different handle angles, as men tend to shave in front of a mirror - so they don' t have the same vision requirements of the shaver that women have while in a shower. You can see your entire face in the mirror, where as women have to be able to see the blade area to know where they are shaving.
So, there really is a reason their razors cost more. As with most items subject to the "pink" tax.
Just as an aside
I don’t know, but I love the irony of an attack ad on “toxic masculinity” from a company which markets gendered products on the basis that pink and purple casings transform their man razors into lady razors.
