[W:141]******Razor burn: Gillette ad stirs online uproar

Re: Razor burn: Gillette ad stirs online uproar

Has there ever been a thread you've been on where you don't claim other posters are racist?

Has there ever been a thread you didn't come out looking like a total ****ing idiot?

In chronological order:

That is a hate crime. That is racism.

You're foolish if you think being for white culture means you are a male chauvinist.

Maybe your racist angle will work out better for you.

Re: Razor burn: Gillette ad stirs online uproar

Who's causing an uproar? Mysogynist pigs who want to continue to be able to grab women by the *****, sexually harass them, abuse their wives, show no respect for women?

holy shirt we really have a lot of assholes in this country

I admit, after hearing all the hysteria over it I thought it would be some hate-filled anti-man commercial or something. When I actually watched it I was left scratching my head at all the hubbub, because I can't really see anything wrong with it (other than including a clip of that chick from Armenian-Genocide-Denying 'The Young Turks' in their clip collage). Like, I didn't realize a message to not be a bully, or a dick, was so controversial. Honestly I think the folks having a freak out over it should examine their lives a bit and see if their reaction might be because they're the sort of people the ad was talking about.

I can, years of reading the dumb, hateful BS that right wingers spew, I'm not surprised. They are complete and utter assholes. America's Taliban.

Just like they are angry with minorities and gays, they are just mad they can't be dicks to everybody and get away with it anymore, and scared they are becoming a huge minority

Re: Razor burn: Gillette ad stirs online uproar

You really are a one trick pony aren't you?

all the trolls are one trick ponies that just keep posting the same dumb stuff over and over and over again on every single forum

Re: Razor burn: Gillette ad stirs online uproar

OK what did you mean by the post?

You posted that Steve King of Iowa was a victim of the “house.”

I posted to the effect that it was his ”mouth” that got him in the scrap he is in. Did you really not follow?

Starting to think there are only a handful of actual trump fans that are speaking what they truly feel while the rest are just trolling. Dishonest trolls suck.

Re: Razor burn: Gillette ad stirs online uproar

You have any girls 'cause seems to me the lessons of the Gillette commercial are appropriate for women as well. Especially bullying.

I sure do...did I not include girls in my post?

Re: Razor burn: Gillette ad stirs online uproar

More like the mouth...

Huh? Remove them ellipses...

His mouth like the Jews in Nazi Germany used their's to proclaim their sabbath on Saturday?

Re: Razor burn: Gillette ad stirs online uproar

No one likes being lectured by giant corporations, when it's painfully obvious that it's their moneyed interests, and not any real alliance to human values, that's driving their agenda.

No one is saying they said anything wrong. It's that they think that it's their place to be everyone's parents that's wrong.

What happened to all the liberals in 2004 that were telling us about how elitests shouldn't lecture common folk about morality?

They're job is to make and sell razors....and they really need to get better at it, before they start lecturing their customers about how to behave.

leave this kind of high mindedness to local pastors and social justice warriors. They're cut out better for this thing...unfortunately.

There... There...

Show me on the doll where the mean corporation hurt you. Do you want us to tax em, will that make you feel better son?

Re: Razor burn: Gillette ad stirs online uproar

Well, I like it...got 2 boys of my own, who I taught the golden rule to as they grew up...nothing wrong with teaching your children, boys and girls alike to treat one another with compassion and respect...

I sure do...did I not include girls in my post?

No. Any significance to leaving them out of your post?

All righty then! Today’s veneer was wafer thin............

Re: Razor burn: Gillette ad stirs online uproar

So, what say you? Love it? Hate it? Either way they are bound to make money off it....

The ad...

Well crap like this pretty much gaurantees their competition my business. Doubt I'll be the only one. We'll see if it matters.

Not so sure it will work in their favor. All the SJW crap from Hollywood ends up getting the worst ratings and reviews (that aren't "professional" and bought) and lose money time and again. Might hold true for companies telling us that we should do better.

Ironically, I get the message that Gillette feels as a product for men, they should help women. Not sure implying they need our help is really as enlightened as they think.

Re: Razor burn: Gillette ad stirs online uproar

I'm waiting for the follow-up ad for their Venus customers that implores women to be the best that they can be while depicting them gossiping, nagging their significant others, talking incessantly, laughing at another woman being fat, pulling each other's hair, etc.

You know, so long as we're throwing stupid stereotypes out there.

You mean none of that **** about women is true?

Yeah, becasue I didn't...

Re: Razor burn: Gillette ad stirs online uproar

The problem is whether or not publicly traded corporations should be wading into social issues without input from the shareholders and with paid advertisements that have nothing to do with their product and in which there is zero product placement.
What's the social issue? That men should treat people with respect?

Please tell me what the social issue is. Thanks!

Re: Razor burn: Gillette ad stirs online uproar

So it's an ad telling men how to basically not be assholes?

Great. Sad that we need a razor company to remind men that they are men, and not little boys, but if that's what it takes, I'm all for it.

If you are not the kind of man that this commercial is speaking about, then good on ya'. The commercial is not for you, and thank you.

On the flip side, I wouldn't be totally against a commercial from Sephora or Ulta, telling women not to be bitches all the time. In many cases, women are each others' own worst enemies, being all snipey and catty.

Sometimes people need a gentle reminder that they are being assholes.

So you buy into the stereotype enough to believe that it's mostly true enough to require a commercial.

Re: Razor burn: Gillette ad stirs online uproar

If these ads somehow where instead conveying anti-gay or anti-immigrant messages, so-cons would be cheering loudly.

I'd rather just buy dollar shave club :)

and libs would be outraged. Instead of one-upping each other in hypocrisy, How about we just accept that fact that it's annoying anytime some big corporation who engages in slave labour decides to preach morality.

In a nutshell, it’s a feminist movement trying to redefine societal mores. Now perhaps you can tell me what razors and shaving cream have to do with the MeToo movement or did someone in marketing just decide to raid corporate coffers to pursue a personal agenda by releasing an ad that doesn’t even feature Gillette products?

The message of treating everyone regardless of race, religion, sex and sexual orientation equally and with respect is still to be respected. Whereas Anti-gay and xenophobic messages are not.

Social nihilism selectively enforced.

Except, that's not the message. The message is buy our product, and if you don't, you're a misogynist. What's to respect about that?
